“We’re funding the Left’s storytelling and programming machine. And we’re the smart guys?”
You’d think our wealthiest conservatives would want to mimic that accomplishment in other areas of our culture. Why not create an alternative to NPR? It reaches 33 million people with its feigned neutrality. Or The Daily Show? Ridicule is a powerful weapon, and the Left offers Americans much to laugh about.
In the past two presidential cycles, we spent billions of dollars on political TV ads that many Americans skipped or ignored. And those billions ended up filling the coffers of entertainment conglomerates whose news and programming relentlessly attack and caricature our side all year round.
We aren’t just throwing money down the drain on commercials. We’re funding the Left’s storytelling and programming machine. And we’re the smart guys?
Why do we keep ignoring the importance of story? And why are we surprised when, even when we win elections, our debt piles up, and the administrative state expands?

I happen to think that this is, bar none, conservatives’ biggest problem.
There are very few conservative shows on TV right now. And I don’t mean “shows that glorify conservatives,” because those shows all tank in the ratings. I mean “shows that embody conservative values.”
We have to fix that. You don’t win hearts and minds with An American Carol, no matter how (un)funny it is.

This is true.

I’m not sure Dennis Miller could work 24/7 ridiculing Dims. Lord knows there’s plenty of material to work with though.

I want to see and hear a spokesman for conservative principles, loudly and clearly.
The difference is, I don’t need a cult of personality, charisma, someone who looks like me, someone who feels my pain. No. I want someone to say what I believe, and proclaim it from the rooftops. That’s all I want. And I want him to be heard, and understood. A modern day prophet of conservatism. The closest we have today is Sarah Palin, but she’s roundly ridiculed.

Why not create an alternative to NPR?
That’s kind of like creating an alternative Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda to compete with the Nazis. It shouldn’t exist and should be put out of existence.
By the way, I just heard an interview with Corker on NPR and the interview ended with a very non-partisan Corker pretty much saying the Republicans are as much to blame as the Democrats for the Benghazi scandal.

Glenn Beck. And Andrew Breitbart, were he still with us.
petefrt on November 28, 2012 at 6:58 PM
Yup. Our tax dollars should not ever fund news.
Or entertainment for that matter.

Greg Gutfeld is pretty entertaining, just saying.
Braveheart on November 28, 2012 at 7:06 PM
Gutfeld is a good thinker. I enjoy his commentary more than his humor.

The Palin family has as many reality shows as the Kardashians. But Romney and the GOP establishment thought it would be a brilliant idea to shut out Sarah Palin at the convention, and now Romney blames his loss on those earning less than $50k/year. The Republican establishment is completely out of touch with the American electorate.

This is what Bill Whittle and Andrew Breitbart have been saying for years. I think it’s a large part of the answer. Cancelling out the liberal bias of our “education” system is another large part.
Socratease on November 28, 2012 at 7:24 PM
Agreed, and if you think Palin could win the presidency, so are you.

Ridiculing Obama is not allowed on any channel except theblaze.tv

Ridiculing a black man is not allowed on any channel except BET.
Mormontheman on November 28, 2012 at 7:41 PM
Yup, if we can win back the government, we can cancel out the liberal bias in the education system (school choice, roll back public employee unions), if we have the guts. It has to be done, yet Romney and Christie are the only two candidates I recall even addressing the issue, which is essential, only tangentially.
petefrt on November 28, 2012 at 7:45 PM
Didn’t say she’d win, although I’d vote for her in a heartbeat. (Unless you want to count Arnie) Palin’s the only current GOP pol with with any kind of pull with popular culture. She should be celebrated, not shunned at the GOP convention. Culture is important.
sauldalinsky on November 28, 2012 at 7:48 PM
Yep, media and academia need to be balanced out.
When it comes to media and entertainment, I don’t want overtly conservative messages like An American Carol because nobody wants to be preached to. I just want a conservative presence in the themes and the characters. The Walking Dead would be a much better show if the characters were authentic southerners and not these Berkeley influenced imitators.

Didn’t hear it.
How did he get to that conclusion?

Heard about the new sitcom, 1600 Penn? It’s about a dysfunctional family who just happens to be the Presidential family living in the White House. How much you wanna bet they’ll be Republicans or their party affiliation won’t be revealed?
Mitoch55 on November 28, 2012 at 8:32 PM
No, dismantling it will not undo the damage they did. We need to take their tax dollars and spend it on our own propaganda.
