Report: Jesse Jackson Jr was tipped off about federal probe in June
Sources with knowledge of the probe told the Chicago Sun-Times that investigators believe Jackson had learned of the federal scrutiny of his financial activity prior to his June 10 leave from Congress.
The sources said it didn’t necessarily mean the tip was from an investigative source, saying it was possible the congressman received a tip from someone who was notified about the probe, possibly through a subpoena.
While Jackson, a South Shore Democrat, eventually released information concerning his health, he did not publicly disclose he had knowledge of the federal probe until last Wednesday — the day he submitted a resignation letter to U.S. House Speaker John Boehner.

And yet he still ran.
Well hey, he is Jr. and he’s a Democrat and he’s from Illinois…
The state deserves to go down the toilet with California.

Funny how government officials can get away with defrauding taxpayers but taxpayers seldom get away with defrauding the government, heh?

He’s negotiating keeping his pension. Anyone else would lose it. His wife should also be in jail.

What is the deal with all of these Chicago political machine members ending up in situations like this?
Weird.

What if the actual investigating authorities are white? Is it worth another CBC performance? Surely there must be a protocol,…..

There’s a saying, “you never beat the Feds”.
I guess, unless you’re connected, like JJ Jr.
Why do people from sleazy political families (thinking Kennedys) get a pass on criminal acts when they say, oh, I was taking too many prescription drugs, or, I have a mental health issue. I guess they know how to play the game.
Nation of men instead of a nation of laws. We are really going in that direction. You know, if Obama had a younger brother, he’d look a lot like JJ Jr.

I’m no doctor but Imma gonna guess his bipolar-ism is more like severe panic attacks and fear of federal prison. The Jackson family definitely knows how to fool the public and game the system.

I guess Reynolds hasn’t had any luck playing the “Catholic schoolgirl lotto” recently. The expression in quotes comes from one of the recorded phone calls between Reynolds and his underage campaign worker; she was trying to set him up with one of her high school aged friends. When the worker said her friend went to a Catholic high school, Reynolds said “A Catholic schoolgirl? Did I win the lotto?”
By the way, Slick Willy pardoned Reynolds on his way out of office, right along with the infamous Mark Rich pardon.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen a picture of Reynolds. Last time I saw him, he looked kind of like a black version of Henry Waxman.

He still does.

In other news, Debbie Halvorson will most likely run for JJJ’s seat. She lost the Democratic primary to him this last time, after being defeated herself in the 2010 general by Adam Kinziger. You would think she might be a favorite, but she has one substantial liability: she’s white.
Black leaders in the district are openly worried about the seat going to a white Democrat because there may end up being several black Democrats running who will split the vote. The district is 30-60-10 White/Black/Hispanic. Also, according to Cook, the district is D+36, so this is one of those cases where the Democratic primary basically is the general election.
It’s good to know we live in a post-racial world where our politics are concerned. *cough*

Here’s a better pic.

Wow. That picture makes him look like he should be out on the wing of an airplane in midflight, ripping apart the engine, while John Lithgow looks on in terror.
