I would think that the oath of office, and the Pledge of Allegiance, should be sufficient. No one needs to be beholden to anyone other than their constituents. Grover gets you to sign the pledge, then Grover decides how to interpret it. For instance, just try to cut ethanol subsidies, and see the wrath of the Norquist come down on your head….

A lot of GOP congressmen don’t sign the pledge. Others do. Also, not every Democrat congressman is pro-choice or pro-union.
