“[T]hat kind of arrogance — which is what I think it would be — could be his undoing”
Asked directly whether she believes President Barack Obama will select Rice to replace Clinton, Powers said bluntly: “I don’t know, though I think if he does, that kind of arrogance — which is what I think it would be — could be his undoing.”
She explained further: “If she is put under oath and forced to go through and answer all these questions about Benghazi, I think it’s going to put the administration in a really bad position.”
Powers also contested the notion that Rice was ever the frontrunner for Clinton’s position, saying that from “everything I’d heard, it was that she was in the running but it was leaning more towards John Kerry. And then we have this press conference where the president just kind of went off about Susan Rice, and it’s now become almost a sense of pride.”

Hope springs eternal…

Does it really matter who he selects? Kerry, Rice, whoever … he’s just looking for someone who caters to Islam, hates the US and wants abide by all UN treaties.
darwin on November 26, 2012 at 8:31 AM
Why? She can just lie like she did on the Sunday morning shows.
Doughboy on November 26, 2012 at 8:34 AM
She wasn’t cross-examined on the Sunday shows. Goober will tear her to pieces. McLame, not so much. Support Goober. He’s our only hope. He was on fire yesterday.
Basilsbest on November 26, 2012 at 8:39 AM
Why would it be his undoing? Another day, another Truth o’ the Day.
hoosiermama on November 26, 2012 at 8:40 AM
Yup McCain will be a squish
cmsinaz on November 26, 2012 at 8:41 AM
Undoing? The Legacy Media would play the race and genitalia cards and that would be that.
The average Dem voter has no idea who Rice is, and doesn’t care. Remember, these are the constituents that (literally) voted to save Big Bird and were petrified by an imaginary “war on women.”
visions on November 26, 2012 at 8:43 AM
Um. Nothing will be Obama’s undoing.
Seriously. He’s been re-elected. The media has no interest in ANY of the scandals surrounding and involving this Administration, and half of the country doesn’t even believe there have been any scandals.
Obama can do whatever he wants, and we have no recourse.
Washington Nearsider on November 26, 2012 at 8:44 AM
I’ve been thinking this all along. They can play the race card until the damn thing snaps, but the truth is, a Rice nomination brings Benghazi front and center and UNDER OATH.
Sekhmet on November 26, 2012 at 8:44 AM
The facts could lead to Obama orchestrating Benghazi and the palace guard media would not pursue the story.
The Count on November 26, 2012 at 8:46 AM
The game is not to un-elect him. That ship has sailed. The game is to hem him in with scandal, and make him burn political capital keeping a lid on the scandal, rather than making any more destructive moves.
Sekhmet on November 26, 2012 at 8:46 AM
See, ‘under oath’ means something to you and me, but it doesn’t mean anything at all to them.
Washington Nearsider on November 26, 2012 at 8:47 AM
In order to accomplish that though, you need a media willing to tell the truth, or at least act the slightest bit inquisitive.
We do not have that.
Washington Nearsider on November 26, 2012 at 8:48 AM
It’s one thing to be “cross examined” by a reporter hoping to retire to an appointment to a government agency. It’s quite another to be cross-examined by Senators from the opposing party who are slap-fighting each other for your scalp as a wall decoration.
Sekhmet on November 26, 2012 at 8:51 AM
You’re right. I remember when Graham questioned Holder. Tore him a new one….but, what did it get us? Not a darn thing.
NavyMustang on November 26, 2012 at 8:52 AM
Heh.
I completely agree, but that’s where I go back to the media. Will they report it as anything other than a white man beating up on a black woman? The only other headlines would include ‘conspiracy-minded Republicans’ which also limits the impact of any truly brutal cross.
Maybe I’m too cynical.
Washington Nearsider on November 26, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Yes, the media will make sure to get to the bottom of it and make sure the administration is held accountable.
Good Lt on November 26, 2012 at 8:56 AM
This past election, the media have crossed a line. Back in the USSR, they used to say, “If you want milk, take your pail to the radio.” The state-owned media was known to be paid liars for the regime, and had no credibility. One of the things the Rs need to make a priority is closing the revolving door between media and political appointments. If the House now, and the Senate in 2014 pass laws restricting media figures from employment in their offices for a period of five to ten years and their employees from being employed in media for the same time, that would be a good start. If Betty Anchorwoman can’t retire to Senator So-and-So’s press office, she can afford to be more critical of Senator So-and-So. If Congressman Whatsername’s press secretary can’t get a gig at CBS after quitting the Congressman’s office, CBS won’t feel as tempted to pull their punches in hopes of landing said press secretary.

The GOP capitulators in Congress will approve anyone that obama puts forward – they don’t care.
Pork-Chop on November 26, 2012 at 9:01 AM
And a constituency that re elected Al Greyson.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Mimzey on November 26, 2012 at 9:02 AM
Until we fight back and take over at least one MSM nothing really matters because most of the country won’t even know about the scandals.
We need some brainstorming and an attack plan or we lose forever.
GardenGnome on November 26, 2012 at 9:03 AM
Kerry is infinitely more qualified than Rice. So I hope that Kerry gets the job.
tommy71 on November 26, 2012 at 9:04 AM
Ahh yes, goober will tear her apart, and then vote yes to her getting the position, lol. After all, he is the person who said winning means you get to pick whoever you want, and everybody has to vote to approve the selection no matter what.
xblade on November 26, 2012 at 9:05 AM
The problem is that without a media willing to do its job, what difference does it make? I’ve said it a hundred times, but it bears repeating. Fast & Furious and Benghazi each would’ve brought down any other President prior to Obama, regardless of party affiliation. Bush would’ve been lucky to avoid prison.
I’m not saying the GOP shouldn’t fight Obama every step of the way. But I can understand why they’d get frustrated to the point of giving up when the guy is literally getting away with murder by his actions and inaction.

And people wonder why guns and ammo sales are spiking. Again. Still. Whichever.

Then we must work harder and smarter.

Dingbat63 on November 26, 2012 at 9:12 AM
Do you get the feeling the Susan Rice is Obama’s special friend. Wonder if they have alot of late night sessions together.
Danielvito on November 26, 2012 at 9:14 AM
OK, either Bill is laying a trap here, or else he’s gone off the deep end.
rbj on November 26, 2012 at 9:16 AM
By the way I do think Obama swings both ways. His other pal, reggie love, likes to get him all sweaty playing basketball.
Susan Rice, reggie love & obamasatan. I bet Obama plays the girl in this threesome. He does look like a tranny.
Danielvito on November 26, 2012 at 9:18 AM
Could be his undoing? What does that even mean? We had a chance to undo him earlier this month and we muffed it. There are no more chances. It’s not like we’re going to impeach him. We’re stuck with him, with Obamacare, with his executive and judicial nominees, and with his insane exercise of executive power.
There is no undoing to be done.
Let it burn.
dczombie on November 26, 2012 at 9:33 AM
I don’t care about qualifications, but I hope he gets the job so we can have Senator Scott Brown back. =)
vegconservative on November 26, 2012 at 9:34 AM
With our luck we’d just end up with Senator Barney Frank. Can you imagine the cluster that would be?
dczombie on November 26, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Yes, throwing your metals over a fence then spending your entire adult life in the Senate is definitely all the qualifications you need to be the secretary of state.
Sigh. At least he has a slightly better resume then our current Secretary of State, who’s biggest accomplishments prior to her job were being married to a former president, and using said political clout to serve a term in the senate from a state she didnt live in / wasnt from / probably had only rarely previously visited.
Timin203 on November 26, 2012 at 9:45 AM
There are no shortage of crazy liberals in MA. Trust me. And enough with Scott Brown, he let us all down big time. Let’s concentrate on real conservatives, and just give up on the idea of a RINO from new england.
Timin203 on November 26, 2012 at 9:46 AM
“Qualified” in what, exactly?
He’s been pretty much a total failure as a US Senator for over 2 decades, he called US soldiers “murderers” (in Vietnam) and “terrorists” (in Iraq), and also had to apologize in public for insulting the intelligence of said US soldiers.
Del Dolemonte on November 26, 2012 at 10:11 AM
After Rice is put through the Obama media propaganda machine, she will be a favorite for POTUS 2016.
That’s the way it works.
Moesart on November 26, 2012 at 10:19 AM
Are you kidding me? Kerry isn’t qualified as compared to Rice? Partisanship aside, the Sec of State is pretty important in international relations. This requires diplomacy (Clinton or Kerry), not a bull in a china shop like Rice (in Maureen Dowds own words). Gotta face the reality – BHO is gonna nominate a prog anyway. Might as well be slightly competent. Kerry has travelled the world, and he knows Presidents and Prime Ministers on a first name basis. He is also well respected abroad. Rice would end up making us more enemies, and might antogonize our friends. Yeah, Kerry is definitely more qualified than Rice.

Oh Please!
This bunch doesn’t care a wit what anyone thinks. They own
the Press, so they can spin this Pathetic Liar into
Mother Theresa by the time the confirmation hearings roll
around.
And the Republican Senators will do their part of rolling
over and accepting her…
Is this Counrty great of what!!
