“I think she deserves the ability and the opportunity to explain herself and her position”
McCain, who has said he would block her nomination if Rice tapped as Secretary of State, said on Sunday that he would give Rice a chance to explain what happened.
“I’d be glad to have the opportunity to discuss these issues with her,” he said on Fox News Sunday, adding, “I think she deserves the ability and the opportunity to explain herself and her position.”…
On Sunday, McCain backed off his critique, focusing more on the Obama administration and the failure to prevent the terrorist attack in the first place. “The problem is the president of the United States,” he said.
Although McCain struck a more conciliatory tone on Sunday, Graham continued his attack on Rice and the administration, saying he did not believe the intelligence officials who said they changed her talking points.

If her “explanation” is that despite working so many years in foreign policy, the paper in front of her said “spontaneous protest” she should withdrawal her own consideration.
There is no excuse for someone with that much foreign policy experience to believe it was a spontaneous anything.

Susan Rice- giving us the lie of the land.
Let her continue the White House prevaricating farce.
Meanwhile, the Muslim video guy is in jail.
If only she and Obama would join him.

Is the ‘sexist, racist’ thing getting to them about rice? If rice does go before a hearing, one might expect just more lies out of her mouth?

Rice is stupid as a cow.
I apoligize to cows, white, black, spotted, red, etc.
The land deserves Obama and her. They are the ultimate form of racism.

Rice lied, because she was told to lie – What is there to explain?
Rice does not “deserve” anything, except to be impeached for her lies.

She deserves the ability…
He can’t even back down articulately.
Goober is now our only hope. He was on fire on Stepinawfulgaffes this morning.

McCain is such a wimp in politics.. Any fear that he might be labeled a racist or a sexist and he backs down. Its one of the reasons he lost the 2008 election.
melle1228 on November 25, 2012 at 3:57 PM
Looks like McCain is tripping all over his tongue in his speed to back down.

McShame is the azz he always was. There’s nothing to explain. Rice did what she did and everyone heard her – which was the intention as she blamketed the Sunday talk show circuit with her outrageously transparent lies about benghazi. There’s nothing else to hear and no explanation for it. Period.
We all knew that McShame would fold like a cheap suit. That’s all this POS shit does. Better he should keep his mouth shut and let serious people handle the issues. Better yet that he should resign, take his retarded cow of a daughter off the stage with him and never be heard from again.

Dems attack-attack-attack, and we “re-consider”…gee I wonder why we lose elections??
right2bright on November 25, 2012 at 4:45 PM
I think/hope McCain means in a senate or house investigation under oath, vice a confirmation hearing?

McCain and the rest back off after a few quick rounds of the Race Card. Who expected anything different?
What’s terrifying in all this is not that we have a band of criminal sociopaths Occupying the White House, but that the opposition is either out to lunch or has actually been co-opted by the Occupiers.
I think it’s wasting valuable time to be labouring under the delusion that we can mount an effective resistance through the Republican Party. It’s more than dead- it’s part of the conspiracy against us.
sartana on November 25, 2012 at 6:14 PM
Sartana, you’re right that the GOP as currently configured is a fail. But a 3rd party would be worse. What needs to happen is people like and I becoming more active in local GOP politics. I already am, and encourage everyone who cares to do the same. It can be changed, it will take coordinated effort and time. Go back to Reagan’s speech about this very issue. The Republican party is the ideal vehicle for our principles, it just needs to be led by the right people.
SuperBunny on November 25, 2012 at 7:02 PM
The constant backing down of so many GOP ‘stalwarts’ makes me really begin to wonder if there isn’t a file cabinet somewhere with the goods on all of these folks. I know they’re politicians and stuff, but can it really be possible that that many GOP pols really lack a spine? Without some other explanation? Sheesh.
