Hamas leader: I accept a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with the right of return
“I accept a Palestinian state according [to] the 1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the capital, with the right to return,” the Hamas leader told Christine Amanpour in Cairo…
Mashaal, whose interview appeared to move his positions closer and closer toward the positions of the Fatah-dominated Palestinian Authority with whom Israel has conducted numerous round of negotiations, also spoke about Hamas’s use of violence and terrorism.
Asked if Hamas is willing to renounce violence, he said, “We are ready to resort to a peaceful way, purely peaceful way without blood or weapons.”

Just a reminder: “right of return” mean “right to make Israel an Islamic nation”.

I think it’s clear that if they want Jerusalem, they’re going to have to take it. I sympathize with anyone who wishes to undo the errors of colonial borders, but the Muslim population of Gaza has to cut their losses, accept that they cannot get any more land than this, and move on with their lives.
ernesto on November 22, 2012 at 11:28 AM
Right of return? Yeah, dream on.
tommy71 on November 22, 2012 at 11:29 AM
And there is the sticking point.
If ever there was a city that need sovereign city-state status, it’s this one. Don’t allow it to be any nation’s capital city.

LOL. Still, a lie (as usual for the arab/muslim world). Israel should be running on the concept of chetzi-transfer. Palis can have gaza, but that’s it. Israel cannot have any security, at all, if the palis are in control of the West Bank, so that’s a non-starter. Palis in the West Bank will have to go to Jordan, Gaza, or any of the many arab nations claiming they love them so much. They have made sure to demonstrate what serious threats they are to Israel and that cannot be ignored.
As to gaza, whenever the savages there pull the same sh#t as they’ve been doing with the rockets and bus bombings, Israel needs to pound the living sh#t out of the area and take a swath of land, annex it, and NEVER allow it up for negotiation in any way, whatsoever. NEVER. Arabs only understand losing stuff. Giving anything back to arabs that was won in wars they started only whets their apetites for more war and destruction. Eventually, if the savages in gaza can’t control themselves, they will be pushed into Sinai and finally to Egypt, where they belong.
This is the only way to handle the palis (who refuse to be civilized in any way) and is the only reasonable solution for Israel. Otherwise, Israel will just condemn itself to fighting the same exact war every ten years as it has been doing since the inception of the state. And, if Israel does that, eventually they will lose one, just by the odds of Bernoulli Trials.

Screw you. The UN and leftists are among the biggest supporters of “ethnic cleansing”. Leftists love all sorts of social engineering for all sorts of reasons. But you prefer to cleanse whites and Westerners, since that is cool. Did you pray with Rev. Joseph Lowery in the Indonesian’s inauguration for “the day when white will embrace what is right”? I’m sure you did, because that’s how you are. And then you ranted about some illusory racism to hide your own.
You probably didn’t have “boo” to say when the Kuwaitis summarily ejected over 400,000 palis from Kuwait in the wake of the first gulf war. You don’t care about “ethnic cleansing”. You only care about hammering Western civilization.
You people are absolutely despicable.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on November 22, 2012 at 11:42 AM
Not going to happen. Israel will never agree. They won that land as victor of a war when they were attacked. If the Islamists think that they can get it back, they may just lose Gaza as well because that was given to them by Israel. They can take it back.
The left should understand that because wasn’t it their leader, BO, who said “I won”? I do believe that is exactly what he said. Well, guess what . . . Israel did not ask for the war, they got it and they won.
Voter from WA State on November 22, 2012 at 11:43 AM
Colonialism doesn’t really have anything to do with this. The boarders were set when the nations around Israel chose to violate the peace, and all the “refugees” result from that.
Count to 10 on November 22, 2012 at 11:43 AM
Those borders were from land won after Israel was attacked. What part of that don’t you understand? It is your leader, BO, who said “I won” and didn’t allow any kind of negotiation? Yes, he did. Live with it.
Voter from WA State on November 22, 2012 at 11:45 AM
How about this:
You renounce the Koranic sura’s that call for jihad, death and/or subjugation of Jews and infidels, you allow rabbis to teach your children for the next 75 years, allow only western and Israeli programming on your TV’s and radios, give women equal status and stop the persecution of homosexuals.
Leave Gaza and the West Bank and go back to Jordan
After that has been achieved and completely implemented successfully, we’ll get back to you…

ernesto is probably talking about the Ottomans who controled the area for hundreds of years during “colonialism” … and who are now ramping up to reconstruct the caliphate (in competition with Egypt, now). ernesto also has nothing to say about the control/occupation of the West Bank and gaza by Jordan and Egypt after ’48. ernesto doesn’t believe stuff like that ever happened. It makes life easier for him.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on November 22, 2012 at 11:47 AM
Of course, this is what the Palestinians always say on English-language TV.
What are they saying in the Arab media in Arabic? Death to Israel? Take back our land from the Zionists?
Wethal on November 22, 2012 at 11:51 AM
@ernesto: They’re not colonial borders. Whatever the British may have intended before relinquishing their mandate , the 1948 war left East Jerusalem in Jordanian hands. Israel captured it along with the West Bank in 1967 after the Jordanians persisted in shelling Israel despite requests to stay out of that conflict.
Seth Halpern on November 22, 2012 at 11:54 AM
Uh, no . . . that is historically a capitol of the Hebrews/Jews. They are the ones who founded Jerusalem. It was King David who made Jerusalem the capitol of Israel. It was King David who bought Mt. Moriah or Temple Mount for the Hebrews as a site for THEIR Temple. It anyone owns the Temple Mount it is the descendants of King David. Too bad we can’t find any of them. Maybe they would lay claim to it and destroy the mosque that was built on the holy land of God’s chosen people.

Obama moved the goal posts to the 1967 borders. With right to return, arabs will quickly out number jews, and they will vote for a muslim government. israel will collapse in on itself and become another middle east nightmare.
And remember our buddy from the muslim bro’hood singing about how Al Quds (Jerusalem), not “Mecca or Medina” will be the capital? They’re not even trying to hide the fact that their plan is to form a caliphate with Al Quds as the capital. I don’t know how else to read into the possibility that two saudi cities would be the capital of egypt.

Islam is not a race.
Since 1948 one million Jews have been expelled from Arab countries. How about their right of return to a peaceful life in an Arab country?
You know that’s never going to happen.
25% of Israelis are Arabs. How many Jews live in the Arab countries?
Look at the map, anti-semite. There are more Arabs in tiny Israel than there are Jews in the huge Arab territories.
But that’s the left. Slobbering all over countries who kill gays, women and anybody who is not a Muslim, but denying the Jews their right to survive in their own country.

Cultural purity abroad, cultural purity at home. Minorities have everything to fear from conservatives, and this is where you truly show why.
ernesto on November 22, 2012 at 12:03 PM
I don’t see where I approved of anyone enforcing some notion of cultural purity on their state. Nationalism is garbage, wherever it is implemented. In muslim countries and here at home.
ernesto on November 22, 2012 at 12:04 PM
As a Christian, I don’t believe that will happen. A time is coming when the enemies of Israel will be damaged to almost the point of annhilation by their own actions. It might come during our lifetimes. If it does, look for things to get even worse worldwide.

Voter from WA State on November 22, 2012 at 12:08 PM
I’m not sure I know what you mean. A sworn enemy is trying to kill them, and because they are defending themselves they’re somehow racist?
Maybe it’s because we live in one of the most peaceful times since the dawn of civilization, but you do realize that wars happen almost constantly, and are rarely due to simply “racism”. War is almost always about territory or some kind of wealth (oil is a good, recent example). The middle east conflict doesn’t have anything to do with race either, the Israeli’s are a mix of people from around the world who share a common religion, and the muslims are a mix of people from around the middle east & africa who share a religion. Plenty of different ethnic groups on both sides.
It’s a war for territory on both sides with a healthy dosage of anti-Jewish hate mixed in on the one side by a group whose religion says there will not be peace on earth until the arabian peninsula is muslim, the pagans have been converted, and other “followers of scripture”(christians and jews) are killed.
But fine, yeah, the Jews are the racist ones, at fault like usual… we all remember how those anti-aryan jews forced the Nazi’s hand in the ’30s and ’40s.

Khaled should just settle for the pre-67 borders. It would provide outstanding launch sites for the latest Iranian missiles and give them a good shot at overwhelming Iron Dome.
OK they wouldn’t *win* but this isn’t really about winning. This is about nihilism for the death cultists.

Are you serious? This has nothing to do with race in the US or in Israel. What would you do if a group of people swore to wipe you and your country off the map, were shooting rockets at civilians, bombing buses, and had shown repeatedly over hundreds of years that they will not be happy until you and everyone of your religious group was dead?
Welcome them with open arms?
As for minorities in the US… the vast majority of the country doesn’t look at the world like that, dude. Conservatives believe in giving everyone, whether irish, italian, british, indian, mexican, black, whatever the same legal protections under law. We are the most diverse country on the planet, everyone, minority / majority is treated equally under law (something republicans fought tooth and nail for against democrats). I’ve a younger guy living in a city, my group of friends is very culturally diverse, and it makes me uncomfortable to even have to look at it like that. because I, unlike you, don’t look at people like that.
Timin203 on November 22, 2012 at 12:15 PM
We are talking about the Middle East. You must have realized that minorities have everything to fear from Muslims. You can’t be that ignorant.
You must see that its the Muslims who want cultural purity. Watch the news. They destroy every cultural monument that’s not Muslim.
The Palestinians have written the death of all Jews into their constitution. Not the destruction of Israel – no, the death of all Jews.
What makes you think that Jews will have a peaceful life in a Muslim Israel? They don’t have a peaceful life in any other Muslim country.

In fact, I have to say… this race baiting is probably the most racist thing I’ve heard in a while. Who in the hell thinks this way? An upper middle class WASP living in a lilly white suburb who has no interaction with anyone outside his socio economic class and racial makeup except maybe when he gets Chinese food delivered?
Wander out in to the real world… We’re all minorities in one way or another. It’s a dumb way to think about ourselves and our role in society, and anyone who encourages that way of thinking is crippling themselves and those who listen to them from being a successful, happy person.
Timin203 on November 22, 2012 at 12:21 PM

Apparently you’re still under the assumption this is all about land and a Palestinian state. The 1947 UN Partition Plan called for an Israeli and Palestinian state. The Arabs rejected it and attacked Israel the next day.
This is about the destruction of Israel, nothing more.
