100 Republicans sign letter urging Obama not to nominate Rice
“Though Ambassador Rice has been our Representative to the U.N., we believe her misleading statements over the days and weeks following the attack on our embassy in Libya that led to the deaths of Ambassador Stevens and three other Americans caused irreparable damage to her credibility both at home and around the world,” Republicans wrote in their letter, which was led by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) and sent to Obama Monday…
“Ambassador Rice is widely viewed as having either willfully or incompetently misled the American public in the Benghazi matter,” it says. “Her actions plausibly give U.S. allies (and rivals) abroad reason to question U.S. commitment and credibility when needed.
“Thus, we believe that making her the face of U.S. foreign policy in your second term would greatly undermine your desire to improve U.S. relations with the world and continue to build trust with the American people.”

Those Republicans are just being racist sexists again. — Condoleeza Rice

Reason enough for him to be even more arrogant.

This is what The GOP wants to pursue now? Everyone in this administration lied but why single her out? Obama, Clinton, Petraeus all misled period and should share the blame.
The establishment always ruins things, they way I see it, going after Rice will generate sympathy and backlash and further the perpetuate the ridiculous war on women narrative.
Most conservatives are framing this as Obama’s lies and incompetence, and i think that is the best way to go.
Rice was the messenger, we need to go after the source of the message IMO.

Alternate headline: 100 Republicans out themselves as racist sexists and/or sexist racists.

The House doesn’t need to approve her nomination, right?…so what’s the point?

Great, there are 100 Republicans who have guaranteed a continued “war on women” meme in 2014.

So, if we don’t get Rice, we’ll get John Kerry.
Right Mover on November 19, 2012 at 3:45 PM
Let’s go back to what I said in an earlier thread about the U.N. weapons treaty. The House has no say in nominations and Obama doesn’t care what the House thinks. The people decided, in their infinite wisdom, to send Democrats back to run the Senate. Reap what you sow, folks. Reap what you sow.

At this point it really doesn’t matter who SoS is.
We’ve had our Arab Spring. I sincerely doubt Rice could top that – she would try though.

I hope they have considered this might guarantee Dear Leader will nominate her, and that it is part of their plan.
farsighted on November 19, 2012 at 4:33 PM
Let him nominate her, then embarrass her into oblivion in the confirmation process and see what she leaks out…
