Rasmussen
Poll: 54% identify as pro-choice, 38% as pro-life
More voters than ever now identify themselves as pro-choice when it comes to abortion, and most rate the issue as important to how they vote.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters shows that 54% describe themselves as pro-choice on the issue of abortion, while 38% say they are pro-life.

The Roe v. Wade case was decided by the Supreme Court in 1973.
So the mother of every American who is 39 years old or younger had a the right to make the “choice” of aborting them.
One would think that might make people age 39 and younger more “pro-life.”
Everybody up to age 39 should seriously consider how lucky they are to be alive. And if they grew up with a single mother, the reality is that their mothers probably did at some point during their pregnancy think about aborting them.
How many classmates, brothers, sisters, cousins, potential friends is this generation missing?

Yes, they have. But mostly this is the result of relentless propaganda over the last 5 years, telling women that this is just a debate where a bunch of square old men who hate people having sex want to tell us what we can and can’t do with our bodies. Younger men have bought into this too, and of course abortion is great for them.
“Juno” notwithstanding, most popular entertainment shows that young girls and women watch portray an unplanned pregnancy as a catastrophic, life-ruining event in which the girl is ostracized, shunned by her family, ridiculed at school, called a slut and a whore, etc. There was a famous episode of “Sex and the City” in which Carrie finally comes clean to her boyfriend that she had an abortion at age 22, and he dumps her. Meanwhile, Samantha tells Carrie that she has had three abortions and they were a piece of cake, no problemo.
The vast majority of women have not had an abortion, don’t know anyone who has, and would personally be very torn about having one if they got pregnant. But they really don’t want a bunch of old white male politicians telling them they can’t.

I have a different view. I believe that The United States was allowed to win its freedom against impossible odds and go on to become the greatest nation in history because of divine providence. I believe we are now in a downward spiral becasue we are no longer a moral people. It doesn’t matter if a man (or a nation) gains the whole world if he loses his soul. And when he does lose his soul he can certainly no longer count on divine providence.
I respect your view and I understand that mine is in an ever dwindling minority but I don’t care. If I’m the last person in the world that feels this way then so be it.

The guy I worked for in the Reagan Administration sued to say all the time that this would be the most pro-life generation we have ever seen because they were all born by choice of their mothers and would be grateful that they were not aborted.
Liberals have done an extremely good job of countering that by convincing young women that we are always just an inch away from having their rights taken away. Depsite the fact that we have had five Republican Presidents since Roe, and none have gotten it overturned, they still ran the hell out of that ad saying Mitt Romney WILL overturn it. And women believed it.

Just curious.

LULZ Rasmussen poll…
i bet the REAL numbers are:
94% believe in a Woman’s Right to Murder
and
only 6% believe that life begins at conception
corujodp on November 15, 2012 at 4:42 PM
About 50 million?
50 million more people paying into SS..50 million more with needs for goods and services to fuel an economy..50 million missing that ’1 in a million’ skill or innovative breakthrough in technology or medicine..etc.

So the a culture of death has officially taken over the United States.

He wrote this in 1983 while he was President. It was an unsolicited article for The Human Life Review. It was also published as a small book. If you’ve never read the entire thing, I highly recommend it.

So that means that 38% of the people are Christians and respect life. I guess we now know how low are national morals have fallen.

Well, I didn’t read the article so I’d have to know what the definition of “pro-choice” is. Would the country be totally comfortable with Obama’s view of abortion? Are they pro- partial-birth abortion? Why are even pro-aborts squeamish about showing video of such a procedure?

I don’t trust Rasmussen any more than I trust Gallup or Pew. They all have an agenda.

Gallup disagrees.
I’m inclined to agree with Gallup more on this than Rasmussen, simply because the trends over time have been towards what Gallup says than what Rasmussen says.

Yeah. Only 38% as pro life just doesn’t sound right at all…nothing’s happened in such a short amount of time to explain such a big drop in support. I don’t buy that the ‘war on women’ or Akin’s remarks led to people leaving one side in droves.

The fight also goes on – even in San Francisco California:
If you are in the area on January 26, come join the Walk for Life.
Please help to spread the word about this walk.
In past years, 20,000+ people have walked. In SAN FRANCISCO!!!

This is so intellectually dishonest I could spit. You’re just going to forget that the “moral majority” wing of the GOP basically ran the party after Roe v. Wade, that it defined the identity of the party for young people, not any mean scaremongering by the Dems. You’re forgetting that *just last year* GOP controlled legislatures across this country tried to shut down Planned Parenthood, tried to force women to get an ultra sound, tried to pass waiting periods to discourage abortion, tried in VA to force a trans-v@ginal procedure on women and nominated House candidates, senate candidates and a Vice fricking President who do not believe there should be a rape exception for abortion law. The GOP made its own bed and has no one to blame but itself.

Dearest roger has been off his game for weeks. I suspect he figured out that the Democrats were going to win a bit earlier than some folks, even me, and has been dispirited ever since.
libfreeordie on November 15, 2012 at 5:21 PM
Lies.
The woman went to the hospital to ask for an abortion. It was refused. “Her husband told the BBC the termination was refused because there was a foetal heartbeat.”
That meant the fetus was still alive, so she had not miscarried.
No one knows why she died, exactly. Reports are that she developed sepsis, which can occur following a miscarriage when not everything gets flushed out properly and the remnants rot inside of the woman until the infection spreads into the bloodstream.
If that is what happened, it is a separate medical issue that took place after the miscarriage, and could have been dealt with AFTER the baby died. There was no need to rush to kill the fetus.
Sepsis takes some time to set in, maybe a day or two. There are symptoms. It is lethal, but if you go to a hospital they pump your blood full of antibiotics and save you.
This happened to Lily Allen a few years ago and there is an article about it: http://articles.nydailynews.com/2010-11-08/entertainment/29441765_1_bloodstream-infection-lily-allen-miscarriage
Note that she developed sepsis DAYS after the miscarriage.
The line being peddled by the anti-abortion types is that this woman presented with a live fetus and demanded it be killed, the hospital refused, and she more or less immediately died as a consequence. That’s garbage.
Here is the WIKI version of the story:
1st of all a “nonviable” fetus is one which can’t survive on its own outside the womb. A nonviable fetus is simply one too young to be put into an incubator and survive a premature birth. Viability is usually reached somewhere like 23 weeks. So calling the fetus nonviable tells us nothing, it doesn’t mean the fetus was dying.
Once the fetus dies, there is plenty of time of the body to naturally flush it, or to remove it medically, before the corpse decomposes to the point of inducing sepsis. If there is any issue here, it is not that abortion laws killed this woman, it is that either she neglected to seek medical attention, or she sought it but the doctors neglected to act. That would be a typical medical malpractice case, not an indictment of the abortion law.
Sepsis can be reversed with IV antibiotics. It happens all the time. The only reason you die from it is if you show up at the hospital too late, or if the medical staff is negligent and doesn’t diagnose sepsis in time to treat it.
Either way, this is not a death caused by the abortion law. Either Savita Halappanavar is at fault for not seeking medical attention until it was too late, or her doctors were at fault for not identifying the problem and treating it in a timely fashion.

Talk about dishonesty. No one tried to shut down Planned Parenthood. It’s a private for profit company. They tried to stop the massive flow of taxpayers dollars to it that paid for abortions.
You people lie about everything.
darwin on November 15, 2012 at 5:27 PM
55 million is the number I’ve heard most recently. With almost 40 years behind us, over half of those missing would probably be working, and paying income taxes and Social Security, consuming groceries, cars, durable goods, etc. Instead we’ve got millions of illegal aliens, who, while they consume items, generally aren’t paying income taxes and Social Security.

Noliblieorlife, we wanted to shut down taxpayer money being funneled to planned parenthood- a private organization. If they are such a wonderful organization, tell your ‘free stuff” friends to give money, so those of us who don’t want the “choice” don’t have to pay for YOURS.
Again another shiny lie that you tell your supporters. Really do you Dems just say squirrel and work on all your idiot “womyn.” Virgina Planned Parenthood already stated that they already MANDATORILY DO a vaginal ultrasound and a vag exam to date the pregnancy. What we want is that a women making a choice gets and EDUCATED choice. Don’t tell her it is a clump of cells because it isn’t. That is the whole reason yall are against it, because some women might actually get hip to your lies.

Liberals morons have been led to believe that killing babies, massive illegal immigration, high taxes, forcibly confiscation of the fruits of ones labor and zero responsibility for managing ones own life are “enlightened” views.
Liberals are either:
- Very stupid
- Very selfish
or
- Commited socialists

It’s funny how you are all about regulations “for the good of the consumer”, even for explicitly Constitutionally protected behavior (waiting periods) except for what you like. Hypocrite.
And no, they weren’t trying to shut them down, just remove taxpayer funding. At some point PP makes enough money.
