ObamaCare implementation could spell trouble for Democrats in 2014
The establishment of an exchange involves a massive data compilation process in which the federal government will have to figure out Americans’ income levels to determine their eligibility to receive benefits. The exchanges are supposed to be up by the fall of 2013 so that individuals can begin enrolling in them.
Each state faces its own challenges in setting up the exchanges. In Washington, D.C., officials determined that the uninsured population was too small for the exchange to function. So they have taken the step of conscripting individuals and businesses with between two and 50 employees to purchase health insurance through the exchange, making it the sole marketplace in D.C. for plans that aren’t “grandfathered in.”…
With a number of Republican governors deciding that letting the Obama administration set up their state-based exchanges is the lesser of bad options, the federal government will be facing a number of logistical challenges to getting them up and running.

Won’t be so difficult once they get done tattooing barcodes on our foreheads.

Not to mention an economy in collapse and war spreading like wildfire after military cuts decimated our defense.
Good job, Barry. Mission accomplished.

Why does this remind me of the story about the dog that finally catches the bus?
We need bumpstickers with a slogan like this:
Line 1: “O-Care: [House vote] and [Senate vote].”
Line 2: “Democrats, you own it.”
BuckeyeSam on November 15, 2012 at 7:26 PM
Wasn’t there some change to Senior coverage that was supposed to kick-in this year, but was conveniently put-off until after the election? They can’t hide that anymore either.

We can only hope.

Obamacare needs to be stopped. This is going to turn the American healthcare system in to shambles.

Obama isn’t bothered. He’s guaranteed (unless he’s impeached) till 2016.

That’s when they’ll push the idea of single payer. These obstructionist reich-wing conservative governors and their states hate the sick and poor people. That’s the beauty of the socialist playbook – the next best can’t fail solution is always around the corner. And big government voters love it every time.

Yep. All while they loot the treasury to pay their slaves. Like daddy canceling the credit card, it’s time for a reality check.

Whatever problems arise will be swiftly dealt with via a presser by Dear Leader whining about Republican obstructionism.
And it will work.
55% of Americans will believe that all of the problems with Obamacare are actually because of Republicans.

No matter. They’ve got more excuses than grains of sand on the beach. It’s Boehner’s fault or something.
The Count on November 15, 2012 at 7:40 PM
So, they can force you into an exchange even if you have your own insurance coverage. Uneffinreal!

Yeah, solution for seniors: Don’t get sick.
petefrt on November 15, 2012 at 7:45 PM
Yes, and worse yet, they will in effect tell you what treatments are available to you, EVEN IF you pay your own money for it. They call it “best practices” and “whole life system”.
You’re 75 and need a hip replacement. Sorry, too old. SOL. Doctors and hospitals will be fined/penalized if they give it to you.

If this clusterf*ck of a a law was not reason enough to vote out Obie then I don’t know what is..
Dire Straits on November 15, 2012 at 7:53 PM
It is my understanding that they cannot “force” you into an exchange if your employer provides or you have your own policy and are able to afford to keep it in either scenerio..
Dire Straits on November 15, 2012 at 7:56 PM
The United States is too big and too culturally diverse a country for anything like ObamaCare to work. Anyone with the capability of rational thought could have figured this out.
As with almost everything else the federal government does, programs such as ObamaCare and the like should always be left to the states. Many people on the Left forget just how powerful and capable the individual states are when compared with other sovereign countries around the world.
Many people also don’t seem to know that while the states can’t print money they can borrow money from foreign countries.
visions on November 15, 2012 at 7:59 PM
Well, yes, I think you’re right about that. But still they plan to regulate what treatments are available to us, even using our own money, based on their “best practices” and “complete lives system”.

As I’ve stated in comments at the L.A. Times about 100 times since November 6th, many people are dumb as rocks.
hisfrogness on November 15, 2012 at 8:04 PM
I see your point..That is mainly due to numbers (small)..Bottom line is you will have to have insurance or you will pay a fine..Unless yourpplan is grandfathered in or you have a waiver..
PS..It is going to be a nightmare..
Dire Straits on November 15, 2012 at 8:13 PM
Don’t you realize that’s the whole intent?
Right Mover on November 15, 2012 at 8:25 PM
But nothing ever will, because the media is complicit in destroying the country, and 50.8% of the country remains deluded, blithering idiots.
Yeah, I’m talking about you, Urban Elitist and Sesquipedialian. You guys think you “won,” but the truth is, we all lost last week.
Right Mover on November 15, 2012 at 8:29 PM
There’s no way for the federal government to fund exchanges in the states if the states don’t set them up. As I understand it, if a state doesn’t set up an exchange, the federal government cannot then fine companies or individuals for not getting Obamacare from an exchange.
Wouldn’t this make those states magnets for companies that want shelter from Obamacare’s higher costs?
slickwillie2001 on November 15, 2012 at 8:40 PM
Even if a doctor’s office leaves the insured-healthcare business and works on a cash-only basis?
slickwillie2001 on November 15, 2012 at 8:42 PM
Yeah. It’s going to spell trouble for all of us, really.
Kensington on November 15, 2012 at 8:48 PM
No cash only under Obamacare, unless it’s out of country. When the death panel says no, they mean no. Can’t have those rich folk getting better care than everyone else.
txhsmom on November 15, 2012 at 9:13 PM
If the doctor and his hospital take no gubmint subsidies, none whatever, it’s hard to imagine how the gubmit can hold them to “best practices” and “complete lives” rationing system. But where will you find these totally private medical guys? This is concierge medicine, which is a wave of the future..
The trend for now, all health care providers will be folded into the gubmit system in a few more years and private practitioners will be driven out of private business… or to clinics in Mexico and India.
petefrt on November 15, 2012 at 10:12 PM
That’s my understanding too. You won’t be able to buy some treatments for yourself, even if it’s with your own cash money.
Take the blue pill.
