Senate GOP aides promise resistance to Rice, Kerry nominations
A senior Republican leadership aide expressed shock at the possibility that Rice would be nominated for the State Department slot and said it would almost go poorly for the ambassador.
“Lindsey Graham is perhaps to most accommodating Republican in the Senate to Presidential nominations and he’s 24 hours removed from saying he would oppose her. It’s unclear whether her nomination would be blocked entirely but what is clear is that she would not be confirmed until the entire Benghazi situation has been fully litigated, which has been something the Administration has meticulously avoided,” the leadership aide said. “The public declarations by the administration on her behalf that her public statements were consistent with the intelligence at the time are flatly false and she will be held accountable. If they were looking for a smooth confirmation she would be a uniquely bad choice.”…
A Senate GOP foreign policy aide predicted that ultimately both could be confirmed, but not without a protracted and ugly confirmation fight for the White House — a difficult way to start off a second term.

So, in other words, they’ll bend over, but they won’t grab their ankles.

They will cave.

As usual no Republican attaches their name to a statement. What a bunch of wimps.
Joseph Russo III on November 13, 2012 at 2:20 PM
You mean like how said they would read the entire HC bill into the record and stay up all night to delay the vote and then caved and left town by 7pm? Like that?

Obama is setting up the ‘GOP Obstructionism’ meme to win the 2014 mid-terms.
They are trying to split us, and so are we.

If we’re truly sick of being caricatured by the liberal media machine we ought to stop giving legitimacy by linking to ridiculous organizations like Buzzfeed. Their tech stories and cutesy stuff, sure, but political articles? No thanks.

I don’t want promises from aides.

Andy Card was just on Fox and he’s fine with both of these tools.

Amazingly Graham secured Tunisia’s cooperation to question Benghazi suspects within their country’s jails in less than 24 hours when they had refused the WH. This is one area that LG will hold the line. Other members of the Republican caucus need to be tougher and there is the problem.

They will cave and they would be wise to do so. Let Obama have his appointments. He’s going to cause destruction regardless of whoever he nominates.

I really couldn’t care less about these two appointments. What worries me most is the Supreme Court appointments. I pray to God Kennedy and Scalia don’t retire before 2016.

Yep, and I’ll bet he wouldn’t be opposed to Jeb Bush winning in 2016 either.

Andy Card, Karl Rove, Newt, Santorum and the rest of the has beens need to go away.
A BIG PROBLEM with the GOP’s appeal is that they are still the party of George Bush.
If these people cared about the future of the party, conservatism, and the country they would go away.

Presidents should have wide latitude in choosing whichever incompetent people he wants to head his cabinet offices. Every President appoints some incompetent people. Even Donald Rumsfeld got confirmed 100-0.

It won’t be John Kerry, so much as we want him to go in Massachusetts. They will never let him leave his senate seat for fear Scott Brown will end up in it.
However, in the meantime the governor of MA would get to appoint someone. I am not sure if Duval Patrick would get to appoint himself, but that would be a psycho drama to look forward to. You can’t blame Duval for wanting to run away from Massachusetts, a lot of things going wrong here. His do nothing inspectors did not notice that there was bacteria at the Ameridose company, they hire the next person on the list for government work here, one employee is just as good/bad as the next and it would be unfair to use MERIT for important jobs, and not diverse enough, for sure.

They’ll both ultimately be confirmed…hahahahahahahahahahahahaha…omg, these repubs are hapless.
ellifint on November 13, 2012 at 3:30 PM
What?! Can’t be! I mean, wasn’t Patrick at the DNC in Charlotte talking about how Massachusetts was now the land of candy rainbows and gumdrop flowers and chocolate milk streams? How he’d turned it around from the neo-Syria that it had been when Mitt Romney was running the joint?
