Time to get with it, GOP
This is not pandering. This is a message of unity, a message that articulates how conservatism drives success among African Americans, whites, young people, women, men–all of us–but that message won’t be maximized until you step away from preach-to-the-choir venues and engage those who aren’t part of the GOP base. It’s not easy. In fact, it’s very hard work. But isn’t it worth it?
Let me add a few things. First, the quality of messengers matters. Charismatic, energetic messengers of conservatism are a must. We live in a world where people often listen to those they can relate to in some way. That’s a fact, so don’t ignore it. Send that pro-life conservative female feminist to a left-leaning women’s group. Send young conservatives to left-leaning college campuses and let the youth debate it out together. That’s not pandering; it’s smart outreach.
When it comes to the youth, I must make a few additional points. I have worked with young people ages three to twenty-five as a teacher, coach, Dean, tutor, and Adviser. Young people pay attention substantially more when they are entertained. The best messengers of the conservative cause to our youth are funny, entertaining, and enthusiastic individuals. We have those people in our movement, and they are the key. You want young people to hear what we’re saying? Send Greg Gutfeld to talk to them; he will make them laugh and they will find themselves questioning every stereotype about conservatives they spent years believing. Invite Steven Crowder to a campus coffeehouse to talk with students about his vision and why it matters.

How about preventing economic collapse as a compelling message?

They`re response would be “But, but….. My free stuff!!!!” I`m afraid the system is going to have to go away hard before they get it.

This makes sense,it really does. I love Gutfeld and Crowder. Now explain to me how we make the youth sit and listen to them every day in the class room the way the left does? Explain to me how groups that would bring them to a college campus do so without having their status threatened? Explain to me how once they do manage that they are allowed to speak and not shouted down or have pies thrown at them?

Which is why the focus of the GOP should be protecting key groups, and we as individuals need to make choices that protect our positions and our local community. Personally I do not expect some complete breakdown (although a 2008 meltdown is a possibility and one can only imagine what joys foreign events will spring upon us) but the slow steady stagnation that has affected the USA for the last 4 years will continue unabated barring a major course correction from team Obama.

Problem is as soon as you start talking to college students about freedom they are going to look at the predominant GOP stance on gay marriage and what you’re telling them is going to look to them like a big con.

It’s over. This isn’t your Jimminy Carter US of A. Tuesday was our last great hope. So all of you R. Paul voters can go straight to Hell.

We have nothing like OFA. We are fools.

The GOP should put forth candidates who actually believe in something.
You better believe the Democrats believe in the collectivist statist crap and “social justice” that they are peddling.
What do Republicans believe in?

I thought Romney won the white youth vote. So are Crowder and Gutfeld going to hang out in Watts and East LA?
If not, why is this not basically a reprise of the run-the-table-among-blue-eyed-blond(e)s strategy? Exactly how many Asians at Stanford who don’t already watch Red Eye is the GOP aiming to convert?

Good, then can we stop listening to this trite, grating lightweight?
There is no ending to her being annoying … as well as a sellout.

This is why we need a TRUE Conservative to lead the party.

Steven Crowder is neither funny nor entertaining….
Branch Rickey on November 12, 2012 at 8:05 PM
Palin has many strengths, but she has shown no interest in, and has no background in, leading a nationwide grassroots marketing effort like OFA.

+1
His “comedy” consists entirely of mugging for the camera and not-so-funny voices.

A party too stupid to rally around someone as eminently qualified as Mitt Romney is screwed.
Basilsbest on November 12, 2012 at 8:29 PM
Greg Gutfeld is a national treasure as is that Andy Levy.
This is true.
That is true as well. Hopefully the GOP will embrace the idea of Big Data and community organizing while reading Designing Obama by Scott Thomas. A charismatic and well-spoken conservative candidate would also help.

Neither Gutfeld or Crowder is really funny. If they were they would be making films and comedy shows. That isn’t the point. There is no such thing as someone taking a partisan position and being truly funny. SNL and Monty Python were hilarious because they poked fun at everyone. Unless you can say with confidence, A Pox on both your Houses, you are never going to be truly funny.

Hillary Clinton, Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank are all highly qualified individuals with eons of experience in government. Should we be rallying around them?
