“[I]f Texas becomes a swing state, it’s all over”
“It’s stunning that Republicans won the white vote by 20 points and still lost,” said Alan I. Abramowitz, a political scientist at Emory University who writes about polarization. Unless Republicans reverse the trend, he said, the rising strength of Latinos could doom the party’s ability to map a winning electoral strategy. Colorado and Nevada could soon join California and New Mexico as noncompetitive states for Republicans in presidential elections, with Florida not far behind.
“And eventually Texas,” Dr. Abramowitz added. “Not 4 years or 8 years from now, but in 12 or 16 years Texas is going to become a swing state. And if Texas becomes a swing state, it’s all over.”…
But the Republicans will also have to overcome the tone set by Republican-led states that have enacted tough new measures aimed at catching illegal immigrants. Latinos will never vote Republican, said Mr. Treviño, the former Bush speechwriter, “if they think your political party just doesn’t want you as a neighbor.”

The GOP doesn’t need to survive… and more and more I feel like “America” in it’s current form does’t need to survive either.

I just knew an Obama voter would speak up here as though he were relevant… and lo and behold.

We live near Corpus Christi and have seen how the counties south to the border are voting blue more and more and growing in size. I just pray that Perry, Austin elected, and AG Abbott will start with everything they have doing our 10th to deal with this mess as they are doing with bhocare! The states are the ones that just MIGHT have to do this because bho/team will be/is he!! bent on amnesty?

Correct. In the end it will take action such as forcibly removing federal authorities in areas where they have no jurisdiction at the state level i.e. EPA bureaucrats. This will not be easy and requires said governor to risk it all. I hope gov perry ultimately comes to this conclusion because texans will support him.

Wow. Forced relocations and racial population quotas. Sounds like a winning vote getting strategy. Now find us a candidate who would even consider running on and standing by that as a platform, and who can get elected on it, even in a place like Texas.
Do you live in the real world or just in an idealogical Internet bubble? That you’d even think these are acceptable, just, and reasonable ideas is questionable enough. That you might somehow think something like this is even possible and therefor might be pissed or find emotional disappointment when it does not, is somewhat unhinged and frightening.

Sure to happen. The ‘hispanics’ will desert the blacks, -there’s no love between those two demographics. When the ‘hispanics’ get strong enough they will either form their own party or try to take over the democratic party. White liberals will realize that now they have become the ‘useful idiots’ of the LaRaza types.

I thought the point of this thread was about Texas becoming less RED and more PURPLE.
You obviously don’t know what shocked Tarrant County a week ago. Red Red Red Tarrant County. A Democrat woman ran for State Senator on nothing but ads about her opponent’s opposition to abortion in instances of rape. Never had one ad on anything but. So Romney won big, Senator Ted Cruz won big, and The Democrat female won because voters had to forego the “STRAIGHT REPUBLICAN TICKET” option and go in to specific races to VOTE AGAINST HIM. And he wasn’t some religious nut, he is a Pediatrician with a family. IT’s A LOSING STANCE!!!!

12 to 16 years? So right around the time the CBO projects the entitlement state will completely collapse.
At that point you will no longer be able to loot the future to bribe the present or vote yourself a lifestyle you didn’t earn. The socialist gig will be up.
gwelf on November 12, 2012 at 12:08 PM
Jay Cost made a similar point. We’re fast approaching the time when the Democrats won’t be able to keep up the payments in cash or favors to all of it’s constituency groups. We’re coming to a head where the enviro fascists and the unions won’t be able to get along.
gwelf on November 12, 2012 at 12:11 PM
AND by the way, a Candidate can say he opposes abortion personally in the instance of rape, but would not legislate that. This Republican loser didn’t take that approach, and couldn’t even get elected here where Democrats have been trying to get “Straight Republican Ticket” off the machines since 1990!

Don’t worry – before Texas/Tejas becomes a swing state, it will be handed back to Mexico.

When our credit fails, the scam has run its course. I’m expecting that to happen sometime in the next 12 months.

I’m glad I’m not part of a demographic whose vote hinges on getting special treatment for the criminals of my community. What a shameful identity.

A quick search didn’t yield any answer, but i think legal immigration already has racial and ethnic quotas, meaning so many from this part of the world and so many from that part of the world can enter. Might be wrong though.

It’s all over anyway. We’re long past the point of restoring America through the ballot box.
It only gets worse from here, especially when the government can’t borrow anymore money and all the dependents it’s created come looking for blood. No one gets angerier or more violent than government dependents when their goodies stop.
darwin on November 12, 2012 at 12:50 PM
That’s the real issue and it will hit in California first. What happens when they get a ballot initiative put on for California to leave and join Mexico? Maybe Californians will regret looking the other way for decades as millions of Mexicans are voting?
slickwillie2001 on November 12, 2012 at 1:08 PM
I keep hearing this argument that states have an obligation to become scapegoated white minority states, and I’m not convinced. As far as forced removals, I don’t know if that is necessary but you will need to manage the new immigration into your state and change your state policy to get rid of the magnets. End all social programs, for starters.
