Climate change report outliners perils for U.S. military
Climate-driven crises could lead to internal instability or international conflict and might force the United States to provide humanitarian assistance or, in some cases, military force to protect vital energy, economic or other interests, the study said.
The Defense Department has already taken major steps to plan for and adapt to climate change and has spent billions of dollars to make ships, aircraft and vehicles more fuel-efficient. Nonetheless, the 206-page study warns in sometimes bureaucratic language, the United States is ill prepared to assess and prepare for the catastrophes that a heated planet will produce.
“It is prudent to expect that over the course of a decade some climate events — including single events, conjunctions of events occurring simultaneously or in sequence in particular locations, and events affecting globally integrated systems that provide for human well-being — will produce consequences that exceed the capacity of the affected societies or global system to manage and that have global security implications serious enough to compel international response,” the report states.

How’s that work exactly?
The fact that liberals are more concerned with global warming than a 16 trillion dollar debt and 1+ trillion dollar yearly deficits is ample evidence that they live in an altered reality.

Izzat so?

Just think of the sunscreen costs alone to adequately protect our military, WOW.
There is one bright spot though: With the oceans rising and reducing the amount of landmass, we already have the technology to produce ships which can go underwater.

These aholes refuse to produce energy and are using food staples to produce ethanol, thereby causing the prices of food to skyrocket. Climate change whackjobs are the cause of humanitarian crises.

Using bio-fuels is not adapting to climate change. Putting on or taking off a jacket is adapting to climate change.
That’s because moron liberals will not use the resources in this country. So we will have to spill blood for oil, so to speak.
The UN is coming out with a new climate report that is far grimmer than any before. It is truly end of the world stuff and the only way to stop climate change is to give more power to the UN and more money to third world tyrants.
The one world tyrants have found their silver bullet to end evil capitalism and bring about their one world oppressive utopia. Smart people call it weather the other 99.5% of the population of the planet call it AGW and are will to sell their souls to to the first con man that comes forth with claims of being able to make it stop.

Some ignorant reporter parroting “nations’ top scientific research group” does not a climate disaster make. When the marxist in charge has tasked his entire government to find ways to subjugate the American people using the pretext of climate change (read the now discredited man caused Global Warming), the top scientific research group that depends on this charlatan for grants will be quick to respond. This only verifies how stupid the NYT is and how in the bag for obama.

Maybe we should reorganize a couple of divisions of the US military, if there are any left after the cliff, and rename them ‘Climate Change Strike Force’.

Global warming communists have been predicting catastrophes for 50 years now. None of their predictions have come true. When will the general public start understanding this?

ha ha ha ha ha, the admin tries to win over conservative support for re-purposing the military with this balderdash?
ha ha ha ha ha , it is to laugh!

I guess they are never going to give up on this HOAX until they are able to tax us for exhaling. Humans and animals exhale CO2 you know.
The fact is, global temperature has only been about 0.5°c or less, above average for the last 20 years? There is absolutely NOTHING unusual going on.

Biggest threat to our national defense is choking our energy reserves and economy to combat “Climate Change” and producing “Green Fleets” that run on a fuel 10 times more expensive than diesel while our rivals ramp up energy production and industrialization.

During the meeting where they cooked up this nonsense, the consensus was that adding a military angle to global warming would draw some conservative sympathy.
I mean, I would bet the rent.

The military will now emphasize the damage that the environment might sustain from military action and plan accordingly. For example cluster bombs will no longer drop explosives, but rather seed pods such as wheat or oats.

And the US military is at risk from a HOAX exactly how?
clippermiami on November 12, 2012 at 10:21 AM
It really isn’t hard to find waste in the DoD, and this is a pretty small example.
Whichever twit came up with the idea to ‘greenify’ the armed forces needs to be put down.
CorporatePiggy on November 12, 2012 at 10:22 AM
And I’m certain that the Russians, the Chinese, the Iranians and all the other “wonderful people of the left” are spending time and money worrying about the climate impact of their militaries.
Of course by the time the NYT, the enviros and Obama get finished our military is going to be a agricultural aid group.
clippermiami on November 12, 2012 at 10:24 AM
Sounds like liberals are drumming up an excuse for having an itchy trigger finger for future military interventions. Otherwise, the better logical conclusion would be just to scale back the military and focus on forthcoming domestic problems.
theperfecteconomist on November 12, 2012 at 10:29 AM
The US military and their massive budget combined with a Leftist DoE are these “Green” corporations’ wet dream.
I have first hand knowledge that solar companies et. al. are fighting hard for huge “Green” contracts from the military/DoE. Solar products that can’t survive in the real market are perfect for a closed, insulated (from reality) market like the military with a near-unlimited budget, as long as Leftist ideologues like Chu and Obama are in charge.
Because solar can’t really survive in their current scale in the real world they are aggressively targeting government contracts.
Crony capitalism at its worst.

Speaking of which, have you ever asked an Obama Cultist if they know what “rent seeking” is? I’m not talking about low-information voters, but the really engaged Dem activists. The answers you can get are pretty funny/sad.
visions on November 12, 2012 at 10:49 AM
Internally the risk comes from the fools in power who have the means to effect real change in the military and are setting policy based on following the hoax.
Difficultas_Est_Imperium on November 12, 2012 at 10:58 AM
Yeah they tend to all boil down to ‘so what, everyone does it’.
And in my experience working on government contracts that’s true. The fabled $800 DoD toilets are illustrative – this really is a feature not a bug.
