“We have a darned good chance using this blueprint to get something done this year”

Sens. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., are touting a comprehensive immigration reform framework they developed as a basis for legislation this year, and said on Sunday they are restarting talks on the matter.

“We have a darned good chance using this blueprint to get something done this year,” Schumer, who chairs a Judiciary Committee subcommittee on immigration, said on NBC’s Meet the Press. “The Republican Party has learned that being anti-illegal anti-immigrant doesn’t work for them politically.”…

Schumer noted the framework he developed with Graham has four parts. It would strengthen border security and enforcement of immigration laws by toughening punishment for business that hire illegal workers; require fraud-proof Social Security cards to prevent hiring of workers who lack them; create a temporary worker program; and set a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the country.

You can’t trust them to enforce the laws. You can’t stop the environmentalists from filing lawsuits that delay or kill barriers at the border. You can’t stop the Chamber of Commerce from filing lawsuits about employment measures.

Memo to House Republicans: You won, and it was not with a mandate for “comprehensive immigration reform.” And you’ll win again in 2014 also, so long as you don’t do something stupid that massively depresses Republican turnout, like start caving to Democrats left and right. **** the Democrats, we are under no obligation to help them advance their partisan agenda.

First, Grahm leading the way tells you all you need to know. Second, citizenship means voting rights. Voting righjts means 18% Latino vote in 2016 instead of 11%. Thirdly, no fence means no permanent border security. Its all a sham.

Give all the non criminals temeroray green cards. Period. The end.
