House GOP aide: Hannity’s “evolution” on immigration could give cover to wavering lawmakers
Supporters of a new law were thrilled Friday with the news that two prominent conservative thinkers, talk show host Sean Hannity and columnist Charles Krauthammer, both expressed support for legalizing illegal immigrants.
Hannity used the movement’s chosen phrase, calling for a “pathway to citizenship,” saying he had “evolved” on the matter, while Krauthammer, in his Friday Post column, described the GOP’s hard-line stance on illegal immigration as the single policy shift required to bring Hispanics back to the party…
The biggest questions swirled around Boehner and his always unpredictable Republican caucus, which remains heavily influenced by tea-party conservatives.
A House GOP leadership aide said Friday that many rank-and-file members seemed to be “getting it,” and that Hannity’s statement was “giving cover to those who might ordinarily want to do it but wouldn’t or couldn’t.” Still, the aide said, “we’re talking about a massive piece of legislation, and those are difficult to do.”

I hear you on this, and it is an ongoing problem, but some of these problems we are going to have to fix one at a time. The kid born here can receive benefits if needed, but the illegals themselves are not entitled to them. We also have to go back to the fact that we remove the takers. If their kids go with them, that’s fine too.
john1schn on November 11, 2012 at 10:18 AM
Legal immigration is just as bad if not worse. 85% of the legal immigrants come from third world or Asian countries. Obama got 75% of that vote. They work, sure, but they feel the government should also pay for everything and provide a safety net (e.g. VietNamese). I live in Tom DeLay’s old district and it may as well be Pakistan now. Muslims everywhere. Romney just barely won the district. Bush could have stopped this madness after 9/11. Shut the border, reduce immigration to pre-1965 levels and not allow anyone in from Muslim countries.

Hell, we’re doing that right now.

Can we least experience the fiscal cliff before adding 12 million people to our welfare rolls? Public opinion will change.

They’re voting Democrat, too.
Barry took the Asian vote with something like 70% or so. See, the Democratic party is essentially a party that hates white people now and likes to remind new non-white immigrants just how bad and oppressive we are. Because of this constant propaganda — and the government goodies that we pay for — most of them will be life-long Democrats shaking their cliched fist at The Man.

Biting her tongue is almost as bad. Her silence is deafening.

We get the white vote up. We don’t do that by throwing ourselves to the sharks and giving Dem voting & redistribution craving illegals the vote by the millions. I agree with those that state that Hannity should be get off the air, or he should go back on the air and say that he was rattled at the time and didn’t know what he was evolving to. And I thought Hannity was a reliable conservative.
We can get the white vote way up in the future because, if you look at the sentiment expressed in Brownstein’s article (http://www.nationaljournal.com/magazine/the-american-electorate-has-changed-and-there-s-no-turning-back-20121108), you see that whites lined in record numbers to vote for Romney. When the word is out about this, and the perception is that it really actually is a fight between whites and the hordes of illegals that want redistribution and control of govt for themselves, more and more whites will comes around to supporting the Republicans. Think about that, and spread the word about this viewpoint!

The problem is that few in power give a damn about the Constitution.
The 14th doesn’t really apply to anchor babies. Natural born citizen is redefined for convenience sake.. have to fight for the Second..the First’s ‘no law restricting the free exercise of religion’ is trashed. No one in positions of power care. Even SCOTUS has turned into so many “deep thinker’ relativists.
Mimzey on November 11, 2012 at 10:35 AM
If you look at where hispanics have finally achieved the overwhelming numbers so that they can choose their own representation without having to compromise with other demographics, they choose Villaraigosa, a radical ACLU lawyer who is the opposite of any conservative definition of “family values”, and they vote for him at the same rate blacks vote for Obama. The hispanics are natural conservatives claim is the biggest of the big lies. They are radical leftists fiscally and socially. The Jeb Bush types would respond to this by magnifying exceptions, exceptions being totally meaningless in a democracy.
Buddahpundit on November 11, 2012 at 10:36 AM
Really dumb non seqitur. By that logic Hannity’s “evolution” can’t be critized either, since he’s helped the conservative cause in the past.
Jon0815 on November 11, 2012 at 10:36 AM
This, this, a thousand times this. Standing up and applauding. (It was 75% btw) And to clarify for those that don’t know already. Asian includes India, Pakistan, etc and the Oriental countries. And then there are the African countries like Somalia, Nigeria. ALL VOTE DEM.

What a sad veteran’s day, thinking of all the sacrifices that were apparently made in vain.

They are running with his football as fast as they can, just in case it evaporates.
Regardless, when the politicians make their moves I will be protesting
IfWhen they try amnesty, I have nothing to lose by no longer supporting them. Matters not if a third party hands the US to the DEMs, since I am disenfranchised anywaySo grows the Tea Party
Sounds good
Obama’s Dream Actors show you cannot enforce the law, if politicians stand to gain by ignoring the law. Trading in vote futures is opium to the politician
The last and ‘only’ amnesty lasted until they could move in more illegals to stage the next photo op
I switched to FOX business because of the hammer FOX has been applying to those who will not ‘evolve’. Had to turn that off this week after the hammer began being applied about growing up and accepting gay marriage, legalizing drugs etc because America has changed
Surprised they still let us vote
Glad I have Rush

Believe it or not, Ross Douthat (!), David Frum (!), and other former Republicans in horrible standing are hinting at increasing our share of the white working class through economic populism. I think I could get behind such proposals after Bailout Mania, the crony capitalism, and the fact that it is the rich (like Hannity) calling for more imported Democrats.
Punchenko on November 11, 2012 at 10:47 AM
If you all wish to push back against illegal immigration you are going to have to define your opponents or else they will define you. I think most Hot Gasers are soft. You all argue within Progressive’s politically correct paradigm. You all are afraid to come out and directly say what is happening. What is happening is that there is a deliberate attempt to replace White people in this country. Whites, for all intents and purposes, are considered to be undesirable people. Where else in the world is the deliberate replacement of people is celebrated? Should native Mexicans be happy if, through immigration, be outnumbered by people of Ireland? Should they be happy if their language and culture are replaced by foreigners? Of course not and no Progressive would advocate that they do. Since Mexicans are non White, they are allowed to prevent their culture from being taken over by White – and rightfully so. What is happening in the US should be categorized as cultural genocide. Here is Article 7 of a 1994 draft of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples
Would it be accurate to say that this is what is happening to Whites in the US? If you want to push back against you are going to have to define your adversaries or else they will define you. The way the debate is structured, people who favor amnesty or “immigration reformed” are hailed as diversity advocates and their opponents (mostly you) are defined as racists and intolerant. What they need to be defined as anti-Whites who are deliberately committing cultural genocide. As I said before, either you define your opponents or else they will define you. You can not argue based their terms and expect to win.

About getting the white vote up, I should doubly note that the Brownstein article I linked to in my last comment is particularly good at making the scary point about the trouble we face with the invasion of illegals. Spread that link around widely (below). And note also that Obamacare is going to be extremely costly as all the illegals (or legals if amnestized [Hannitized??]) are put on the OCare rolls. We now the opportunity to make the Republicans in effect the white party. We have no other choice, but then our numbers go way up when we see how the interests of whites are being taken away by the illegals that are grabbing for redistribution and control of our govt.

The Democrats are gleefully using racial polarization, doubling down on ignorant tribalism, and then bragging about it on television and elsewhere.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
It’s time to organize against this hateful anti-American party and bring it down.
Punchenko on November 11, 2012 at 10:51 AM
Just a guess, but people don’t seem to be thinking very clearly right now.
It’s almost like the irrational thoughts one can have after a severe emotional blow. A long standing relationship abruptly ends and after anger, you start to blame yourself and your beliefs…”Maybe I should be more like that other person…I have to change to be more like that”.
Thats probably not it, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a bit of that effect churning around some people heads.
The sudden change in attitudes is unexplainable. People who rallied to “Be a proud conservative” all of a sudden are..”We need to change our world view”, is not the product of clear thinking imo.
Mimzey on November 11, 2012 at 10:57 AM
Yes, but what gives cover to this fact is that whites are in power in the Democrat power.
What we can do is destroy the white power within the Democrat Party by conservatives joining with minorities to promote minority candidates in their Democrat primaries. It’s a terrible problem for white Democrats because it’s impossible for them to campaign against their base and their positions of power are non-representative of their party. Over half of their power is white males, a demographic that doesn’t vote for Democrats, while minorities serve them drinks.
Buddahpundit on November 11, 2012 at 11:07 AM
I don’t get it. Apart from the picture above that lengthy and well-reasoned article, Mr. Brownstein doesn’t talk about illegals at all.

The truly stupid thing about this suicidal push for mass amnesty is the idea that the GOP will be credited for it. If it happens under Obama, it will be Obama and the Dems that will be heralded for pushing it through. Republicans gain nothing and will end up just giving the Democrat Party millions of legal votes.
Beyond that, it won’t change Hispanic voting patterns. They know where their bread is buttered. At some point we’ll have to admit that more people in this country value gov’t largesse more than they do pulling your own weight. You have one party promising more stuff while insisting on taking more from the makers…it’s easy to see why people will continue to gravitate to it.

It’s almost like they had the script prepared in advance, isn’t it?
By the way, I bet no one paid attention at the time, but I said several times leading up to the election that the real reason the GOP abandoned Akin in Missouri wasn’t because of what he said about women, it was because he is anti-illegal immigration and is anti-amnesty. What he said gave them the excuse they wanted. Then, less than 9 hours after Obama wins, what do you know, everybody and his mother is calling for amnesty.
