Why I despair
But, consider this: A president of the United States just ran a reelection campaign based on the promise of government largess, exploitation of class division, the demonization of success, the glorification of identity politics, and the presumption that women are a helpless interest group; and he did so while steadfastly refusing to acknowledge the looming — potentially fatal — crisis that the country faces. And it worked.
Worse, as David Harsanyi has observed, “the president’s central case rests on the idea that individuals should view government as society’s moral center, the engine of prosperity and the arbiter of fairness.” This stunted and tawdry vision of American life was best summed up in his campaign’s contemptible Life of Julia cartoon, which portrayed the American Dream as being impossible without heavy cradle-to-grave government, and in which the civic society that Tocqueville correctly saw as the hallmark of the republic was wholly ignored — if not disdained outright. “Government is the only thing we all belong to,” declared a video at the opening of the Democratic National Convention. In another age, this contention would have been met with incredulity and confusion; in ours, it was cheered…
If we are to lose America as it has been, could we not ask that it be lost to something better than this? Our president, a Narcissus masquerading as a Demosthenes, makes big speeches packed full of little ideas, and he is applauded wildly for it. His, says Marco Rubio, “are tired and old big-government ideas. Ideas that people come to America to get away from. Ideas that threaten to make America more like the rest of the world, instead of helping the world become more like America.” I will vouch for the verity of these words. I have watched how these sorry ideas play out in the real world, and it is not pretty: They make people’s lives worse, and yet simultaneously convince them that any reform will kill them — a fatal combination. Americans should avoid this path sedulously, for that way lies decline.

All true, my dear, but in the grand scheme of things, Obama is nothing more than a haemorrhoid on the anus that IS Progressivism.

Let’s face it. The “takers” care more about the government giving them stuff than the “makers” care about having to pay for it. Since this is being taught in public schools by unionized teachers, and in college by liberal professors, it’s not getting better – it’s getting worse. Personally, I think this was the last chance to turn the country around. From now on, politicians are going to promise more and more taxpayer dollars to win votes, and the last election has proven that they will win.

I’ve heard it said repeatedly(I think Rush has mentioned it a few times) that we can survive 4 more years of Obama. But we can’t survive an electorate that would reelect him.

Federalism is the answer. Seize back the power that has been usurped by the federal government since at least the end of the Civil War. Let Blue states go their own way while Red states go ours.
If they want to go over the cliff, let them; just disconnect us so we don’t go too.
For much more on federalism click my name and read my blog.

Exactly. That’s why the tipping point has been reached. Even with a tepid “other guy”, it was clearly shown that Americans want to vote for free stuff. My prayer was answered…though not the way I wanted it to be.
We can survive a voting demographic stupid enough to reelect a bad president. We cannot and will not survive a voting demographic that “votes for Santa Claus”, as some people are putting it.

I just read only the excerpt, and thought it was so good. In fact I feel a bit of a burden taken off my shoulders, that other people see what I see, that they understand Obama as I understand him.

But what if he actually stole the election?
Every one of these articles laments how we’re suddenly outnumbered.
Yet… it wasn’t that long ago that we were reading story after story about how Obama was losing it. The past year or more there was little love for Obama anywhere except in the media. So what changed?
Oh.. the election that everybody was certain he would lose.
You know… we’re having a hard time facing this one reality.. that maybe the election really was stolen. Nobody wanted to think that our President really wanted to destroy our economy and our military but we’ve all come around to the conclusion. It’s no longer unthinkable. We know the corruption. We know the decisions he’s been making but some of us just don’t want to think he could actually have gone that far.
So all of these “I’m despaired” and “How could we have lost” articles need to take a look at the other possibility…. Fraud!
It has never been easier! One button and one code in the right machine and who can see it? It’s invisible! We need investigations!
We’ve read the the stories leading up to the election! We’ve heard the instances of poll watchers being thrown out onto the streets and yet we still think it couldn’t possible have mattered! One hour in a polling place and with the right skills someone could have added a 100,00 votes to the Democrat party ticket! They didn’t have to carry boxes of ballots into the booth! Nobody had to bus in hundreds of illegals!
We need House hearings on voter fraud!

Completely agree with Jelly Toast.
People people people this gang is from Chicago.
Figure it out. In addition, Mia Love goes down and they go after Allen West who was up big before the election. Dems win senate seats they were well behind in.
Clue in NOW because we all have to figure out how to stop them or else we will have election bandit commies in every office in the land.
The truth will set you free, and also sharpen our minds to scrutinize the correct problem.

Our past immigration policies helped lead to this point in our history and they will prevent us from rebuilding this country back to it’s historical greatness after it’s imminent collapse. And what’s the first thing the GOP wants to capitulate on? You guessed it, immigration.

Those of us who grew up behind the Iron Curtain see things differently, this is bigger than just voter fraud.

Yes, and even worse than voter fraud, in the long run.
Django on November 10, 2012 at 8:51 PM
None of this matters. It’s too big for a few angry conservative internetters to fix. The only power we had was our vote, and that’s been nullified.

Not really. It just didn’t fail enough that his vote wranglers couldn’t produce enough votes to compensate.
Count to 10 on November 10, 2012 at 9:38 PM
I doesn’t have to have been actual fraud — though I wouldn’t rule it out. The practice of sending people out to herd non-voters to the polls with instructions as to how they should vote has broken the basic premise of democratic elections. One man voting five times is bad, but probably chump change compared to one campaign worker busing twenty non-voters to the polls who will vote exactly as they are told.
