“This voting bloc can no longer be an afterthought for any party or campaign”
Unlike other groups, young voters gave Obama an edge on handling the economy. Beyond that, their attitudes on social issues align much more closely with those of Obama and Democrats. For instance, a poll commissioned by the Harvard Institute of Politics showed that young voters preferred Obama over Romney on immigration reform (50 percent to 30 percent), health care policy (54 percent to 35 percent), and issues important to women (58 percent to 27 percent). A 2011 Pew Research Center poll last year found that 59 percent of Americans aged 18 to 30 support legalizing gay marriage…
“I thought the turnout would be low because I didn’t think the campaigns and the political system were treating young people particularly well. There wasn’t a particularly coherent debate going on about policy, and honestly, there was a lot of mudslinging,” said Peter Levine, director of the Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement. “So then you have to go to the explanation that this is coming from them … that they were not enthusiastic or happy about the campaign, but they were persistent.”…
As Matt Segal, president of the youth-advocacy group Our Time, pointed out, it’s no coincidence that when youth turnout was high, ballot initiatives to validate same-sex marriage passed in four states.

I think he meant a walker, as in Ron Paul will be so old in 2016 that he’ll need a walker.

Ron Paul was exactly what America needed at this moment in history.

Ron Paul couldn’t win his home state.
Ron Paul couldn’t even win his home district.
Ron Paul is a loser, period.

Struck a nerve, didn’t I captain crazy? And it’s because of crazy cultists like you that your messiah barely gets in the ballgame in one presidential
campaignprimary after another. Couldn’t even make a ripple in the last 2 primaries when we fielded the weakest group of candidates in some time. Oh, wait, I forgot…that was ***insert excuse of the moment*** fault. Maybe he should have pulled out his racist newsletters and read them to to country. I’m sure he would have gotten a huge bump from that.Obamacare better get here soon. I don’t think you can afford to wait much longer.

That didn’t occur to me because Ron Paul is very fit and doesn’t seem very old to me. If you adjust for the increased life expectancy of Americans since Reagan was in office I suspect that in 2016 Ron Paul will be about the same age as Reagan when he won, relatively speaking. Ron Paul has always been a fitness and health buff and has good genes so I think he’ll still be around for a second term.

Needed for what…comedy relief? Yeah, we could use a few laughs right about now considering what’s in store for us.
xblade on November 10, 2012 at 5:49 PM
Yes, it’s about skin shade , not age.
Whites ,by and large, don’t see themselves as some big white tribe. So whites vote their beliefs.
Many blacks and latinos, though MORE conservative socially then the rest of the population, vote for the darker candidate because they are racist. Race for them trumps everything.
If Romney won +7 the white youth vote then it PROVES my point. What was Obama’s share of the black youth vote? What was Obama’s share of the pro life black vote? I’m guessing over 90%.
This is not 1980 with nazis protests and KKK candidates running for gov. White racism is almost extinct. Black and Hispanic racism on the other hand…

He didn’t get it because kool aid has fried his brain.
xblade on November 10, 2012 at 5:56 PM
While you drinking kool-aid is like spraying Bullwinkle with Goof Gas.
The day for ANY 3rd party is over, be it Ron Paul’s or the Tea Party’s. You trusted the Goofy Old Pinheads again and they failed you again. When Obama’s finished in 2016 the only question left will be which states do we start moving to en masse.
