The late 19th and 20th Centuries were aberrations in abjuring emotional and demonstrative physical closeness between heterosexual men. It’s always been fairly common among non-Anglo-Saxons in any case, as well as in the military.

What seems different now is the lessened heroic or misogynistic pretense to legitimize today’s touchy feely machismo and meaningfully distinguish it from girl talk.

Except in tango where guys with names like Alaric or Attila will kiss you and say ciao.

This whole analyze everything and draw specious generalities, is how we got to the mess we’re in. It started with 70′s pop psychology and has been “evolving” ever since.

Do you know why you reacted to this comment the way you did?..It started in your childhood and the television shows you were drawn to..which were triggered by your first encounters with Santa Claus, or the lack of holiday celebrations..which was caused by…blah..blah..blah.
