Liberal schadenfreude is out of control
But I began to notice, both in media coverage and in social media networks, that Obama supporters were not just thrilled that our guy won—folks were insanely, morbidly happy that all Republicans were miserable. And they weren’t just picking on easy and legitimate punching bags like Karl Rove and Donald Trump. Lindy West of Jezebel wrote a blog post entitled “My Ten Favorite Kinds of Right Wing Temper Tantrums” in which she proudly declared, “I am just 99 percent completely fucking delighted by every single weepy right-wing temper tantrum. I can’t stop hate-reading. I can’t stop.” A blogger for The Daily Kos wrote, “So please know, my fervid conservative friends, that I am temporarily suspending the empathic sensibility that generally informs most of us on the left. I am not laughing with you, in other words, since you seem capable of neither doubt nor self-deprecation. I am laughing at you. You are welcome to join me.” Someone created a Tumblr called White People Mourning Romney. It isn’t particularly interesting or clever, unless you just like photos of your fellow Americans crying or looking disappointed, but people sent in dozens of submissions. …
If there is one thing in this whole country that liberals and conservatives can agree on, it’s that we live in a deeply polarized, angry, divided nation. Social media seems to encourage blasting our basest feelings to everyone we know, and it’s caused some of us to totally mute our human sense of empathy. If I had logged into 2012-style Facebook and Twitter at the depths of my own political despair in 2004, I can only imagine how painful it would have been to be see strangers and friends alike basking in my pain. Frankly, I think it would have made it even harder for me to let go of my political wounds and move on. It would have just made me that much angrier.

I would have cheered and carried on too had Rombo won.
Then again I’m a crazed conservative, an uncaring boob who is a member of the Ruthless and Violent Wing of Amish Society, so that would be expected.
How long have the libs been preaching to us with their pointed fingers and tilted heads that they are sensitive, caring, and open to all people and their viewpoints? Bullshiite, they hate you and all their faux pretending just got blown away, again.

Party politics and elections in the grand scheme are meaningless, and probably have been for perhaps the past 10-15 years or so. The left does not mind losing election after election because it is focused on a strategic victory that has taken decades to achieve. 100 years; what started with Wilson is ending right here with Obama. Whenever they win, they waste no time in getting activists nominated to the courts, new entitlement programs passed and grow the bureaucracy as much as it can, mostly with like-minded civil servants who are there for life. And the RINO’s go along with it because, though they are not radical, they profit from being part of the system. It was Richard Nixon who grew the bureaucracy more than any president including FDR. He gave us the blood EPA and that alone will strangle us.
Couple all this with the hijacking 50 years or so ago of the public schools and higher education and eventually, you will have children who will grow up to hate America, its history and its institutions and anyone who defends them. This evil spawn are the ones in the media, journalism, the arts and in the courts. They will not bat an eye as the Constitution is shredded.
This is where we are today, and it is only going to get worse. Even when things collapse all around them, the true believers who elected this freak show will still blame everything from Bush and Reagan to capitalism and the Jews.
I am optimistic by nature, but I cannot in good conscience tell you that somehow we are going to get around all this and what I fear is to come. It will end, but it’s going to potentially become violent. I AM NOT PROMOTING OR CONDONING IT. I am just stating what I think by now has to be painfully obvious

It’s not out of control at all. They care less about electing their guy than they do about making the opposition unhappy. They’re hateful people, so this is merely par for the course.
mintycrys on November 10, 2012 at 11:20 AM
I share your attitude. It is helpful to know if a major movie has liberal propaganda in it, so that I can decide in advance to not see it. Two television shows that were over-the-top with the left wing propaganda were the hospital shows “Gray’s Anatomy” and “Nurse Jackie.”

They may be laughing at us, but one thing that greatly confuses them is our cooperation. I have noticed that many Conservatives are simply saying, “Great, go ahead and raise taxes, increase regulation, you own this. More taxes, much more regulation! Cut off more land to development, energy, close more plants and mines and factories.”
The Libs, suddenly confused, really look at their “policies”.
Too Late now Libs, we are going over the cliff and you are not going to blame Conservatives for it. Dance with glee, Conservatives are on Strike. No Advice, no interference, Push Baby! PUSH!
Own it.

The hate is there but it’s also the “cool” factor. Tossing your right to vote away on the hip guy regardless of the facts that surround them is reprehensible to me.
I wonder if they try to one up each other with who has collected the most food stamps. Good times.

It’s like I’ve always told people: voting was not laid out in the Constitution as a right, it was a privilege, one that was to be treated like a responsibility. The founding fathers understood that men only earned the right to vote hundreds of years ago as a concession from feudal lords to serfs because they were required to FIGHT AND DIE to defend their lords and the lands that they all lived on. They were given the privilege to vote because they had some skin in the game, as people like to say these days. If you were an educated landowner or owned property, that was usually seen as some semblance of responsibility in nobler times, and voting privileges were conferred accordingly. These days, simply being alive entitles you to health care, and it also entitles you to a vote, so because the vote is treated so trivially, people vote accordingly.
On a side note: I went to a public school in New Orleans as a child, and the white kids would bring in baseball cards to trade, while the black kids would bring in food coupons to trade like baseball cards. I always wondered if their parents knew about all of this.

Oh, wait. I did.

I think for some, maybe even many, making sure that “hateful bigots who want to return to 1950s morality” didn’t occupy the white house was the only goal. The fact doing so would reelect a man who can now gleefully continue his mission of relinquishing US superpower status was an afterthought.
Kataklysmic on November 10, 2012 at 11:36 AM
I agree. Everyone in the Senate and in the House should just vote PRESENT (isn’t that ironic?). Let them own this lock, stock and barrel.
Meh. Even then they will blame Bush and the evil 1%.
LIB = let it burn.

darwin on November 10, 2012 at 11:41 AM
Why should they? A weak incumbent President won on anti-challenger hate by a small margin against a mediocre candidate and campaign. The writing’s on the wall, and if public schools taught liberal children how to read, they’d have noticed it by now.
mintycrys on November 10, 2012 at 11:41 AM
Gee, who would have thought that Statist tools like our modern Democratic party would want to be able to implement all of their policies with no opposition?

The bolded section is a meme. You are thugs and charlatans and I never experienced the claim. You are neither erudite, sensitive, humanitarian, liberal or progressive. Just look around the UN and all over. You are in for yourselves, looting the world, but not for the poor, just for you. Them you keep in modern day squaller plantations, uneducated/uninformed, so they vote for your promises. The Obamas live well.
On the Schadenfreude, none is greater than mine. You see the results all over and you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. I quit producing during Obama’s first fake promise and now work avidly to starve/hurt you.

Worst liberal propaganda is the manipulation of crime stats in the crime programs. In Atlanta last year every (And I mean EVERY) murder was attributible to blacks. However, you can have a CSI Atlanta or “The First 48, Atlanta” and have nothing but black perps, that would be racist! So they used “Re-enactments” with switched races to alleviate the Guilt. Even in New York, it is hurting TV programming. As the Washington Post Capehart. He writes:
“In short, 95.1 percent of all murder victims and 95.9 percent of all shooting victims in New York City are black or Hispanic. And 90.2 percent of those arrested for murder and 96.7 percent of those arrested for shooting someone are black and Hispanic. I don’t even know where to begin to describe the horror I still feel looking at those numbers. But the word ‘hunted’ comes to mind.”
What is a Director to do if 96.7 of all the Murder perps are monochromatic? Fake it! Instead of reflecting reality, just mix in a lot of Whites, after all its not racist if you denigrate Whites and attribute to them crimes they have not and do not commit. After all, they’re White! And you can make the smart and well educated police detective black, even though blacks sue and demand that entrance exams (See: New Haven Police/Firefighters/New York City Firefighters Suit) be banished because they can’t pass them, so they be racist!
Now you have the correct propaganda, Evil White murderers roaming New York and Crusading Black Super Detectives (like “Ice-T” lol) scientist/electronics expert solving the crimes! We will get an Emmy! And don’t get me started on “A Dolphins Tale”.
You should read the book “Hollywood in Blackface” by Paul Kersey” (Amazon has it). It lays out the whole propaganda show.

My head is out. I want much higher tax rates … for everyone. Equality must mean equality. I want a crackdown on coal, oil and gas and confiscation of any private land deemed “environmentally sensitive”. I want a ban on construction expansion. I also think it’s necessary to implement a living wage.
Government authorities should also have the power to put price controls on food, ban certain foods deemed “unhealthy” and establish a board to control profits.

Oh, gosh, it hurts so bad as I sit in my beautiful home eating steak, spending my time as I please–it hurts so bad that they’re LAUGHING at me and pumping their fists over their free $5 pack of monthly Ortho Novum. SOMEBODY MAKE IT STOP.
Watching the glee on their faces as they paddle their sad little raft towards the whale’s mouth–OH, IT CUTS ME TO THE CORE.
They told me to “suck it” because they won the right to keep the helm of the Titanic–OH, IT ALMOST DETRACTS FROM MY WONDERFUL LIFE TO HEAR SUCH TERRIBLE THINGS.

You are correct, and I apologize. And I wish no personal ill on anyone here, and in fact, wish you all well.
But, when the talk turns to “give them their way so that the country will burn” or derides all Obama supporters as shiftless “takers,” or links Obama with a “final solution,” I do get a little riled.
And don’t tell anyone, but, while I think that the Republicans should make key concessions, Ialso think that tough negotiations over the budget will yield a better conclusion, for the nation.
Cheers
