The way forward
They lose and immediately the chorus begins. Republicans must change or die. …
The only part of this that is even partially true regards Hispanics. …
For the party in general, however, the problem is hardly structural. It requires but a single policy change: Border fence plus amnesty. Yes, amnesty. Use the word. Shock and awe — full legal normalization (just short of citizenship) in return for full border enforcement. …
Imagine Marco Rubio advancing such a policy on the road to 2016. It would transform the landscape. He’d win the Hispanic vote. Yes, win it. A problem fixable with a single policy initiative is not structural. It is solvable.
The other part of the current lament is that the Republican Party consistently trails among blacks, young people and (unmarried) women. …
The country doesn’t need two liberal parties. Yes, Republicans need to weed out candidates who talk like morons about rape. But this doesn’t mean the country needs two pro-choice parties either. In fact, more women are pro-life than are pro-choice. The problem here for Republicans is not policy but delicacy — speaking about culturally sensitive and philosophically complex issues with reflection and prudence.

Border enforcement.
Amnesty for those without criminal records. Six months to get to naturalization centers to begin the process. After that? If you are found having not done that, bye bye.
All those here who have been arrested or in prison bye bye

Do ya promise to build that danged fence? I mean really, really promise… cause last time there was a promise and, well the fence still didn’t get built. Unless you mean the virtual fence which was sorta like the Emperors New Clothes…

Oh..good God. Even Charles is falling for the emptiness that is Rubio. He’s not even the right type of Latino. I don’t think Mexicans are going to identity vote for a Cuban.

The Republican Platform always opposes abortion in the instances of rape and incest, yet there isn’t one candidate who runs on that unless they intend to be defeated. It needs to be gone.

It would be worth it for full enforcement. Big if. Full enforcement also should include deportation if you commit a serious crime though, amnesty or not.

Amnesty won’t prove to Hispanics that the GOP likes them.
They want government freebies as proven time and time again in the exit polls.
But don’t let me stop you from following the DEM lead and chasing this rabbit down the hole.

Sure, we rounded up little Elian Gonzalez and shipped him back to Cuba with no problems. Hell, Reno sent in the SWAT teams and everything with no problem. It would certainly give all of those unemployed vets something to do, that’s for sure.
I’m kidding… sort of.
What would be nice is to just cut off those who are on the dole receiving federal assistance so that they make other arrangements and leave. We can also throw the people hiring them in jail with hardened criminals to get the message across that what they’re doing is ILLEGAL. Oh, and end anchor babies would also be a good step.
See… a tweak here, a tweak there.
Of course we could just let ‘em stay and give the Democrats some extra padding for their majority since that’s the Stupid Party approach to winning elections, right?

NO AMNESTY. Here’s my QOTD comment:
Dems now the Party of Minorities
60% of the white vote went to RR. With 62%, we would have won.
That’s why it was a huge mistake of RR not to emphasize the immigration issue, vocally and in ads discussing how fertile illegals are swamping this country. That would have run the white vote up a few points and it would then have been a RR landslide. And yet few Hispanics would have changed their vote, and don’t think that suddenly giving amnesty [AND THE VOTE] to countless millions of Mexican citizens in this country will, as Hannity of all people seems to be saying, will make the “issue go away.” NOT. Suddenly the calculus changes and we then would have to have the Repubs be a socialist party in order to get votes as the white vote would shrink dramatically. The Dems would easily maintain the presidency and garner super nmajorities in congress. Single payer, and 5% yearly redistributive wealth taxes would be the first order of the day as a means of redistribution of assets from the wealthier whites to the minorities, de facto. This will destroy our economy and country, but the redistribution will benefit the minorities for a couple of decades until there’s nothing left to redistribute. And the Hispanic voter bloc would after amnesty be 20% of voters and be growing fast and would demand that Mexicans be given free rein and be able to immigrate and become citizens at will. No effective borders. Mexico would usurp America; it’s that easy for them if we give amnesty now. NO, if we give amnesty now we are done, and so is the country as we’ve known it, taken over from the inside out. Hannity and Krauthammer are off their rockers.
There’s no way we win this through amnesty. Instead, we need to institute E-Verify, and illegals will “self-deport.” But for now Romney lost. If we give amnesty, they of course will demand more and more leniency with border control and further immigration. The more Mexican “Americans,” the more Mexican will come. In no way would we gain “strict border controls” for amnesty, it would lead to the opposite. The Republican’s only option at this point is to increase their share of the white vote. Stick to our guns on immigration, and make that clear, then we can increase our white vote. Otherwise, NOT!

Being the descendent of European smugglers let me just say that fences have never worked and never will.
Even the East Germans couldn’t completely stop people from jumping their fence when the price of failure was death.
During my youth growing up along the Mexican border there was no fence and for the most part no Boarder Patrol. Nobody was trying to cross the border because there was no reason too, except to buy cheap Mexican beer. Just like Canada today.
Until the economic conditions change we will always have illegals.
The problem for Republicans is not a racial problem but an inner city problem.
White, black or purple, the inner city votes Democrat.

Dextrous on November 9, 2012 at 9:34 AM
Prison works. Not having any opportunity whatsoever when you get here illegally works. Not having Democrats ready to enroll you on government assistance works. Maybe Mexico will send them to Canada by the boatloads instead of here when we shut off the spigots and throw Mr. and Mrs. Thurston Howell III in the clink for hiring illegals.
Punchenko on November 9, 2012 at 9:38 AM
If these idiots to manage to cram amnesty through, the first thing I’m going to do is sue the federal government for the thousands of dollars I spent getting my wife and mother-in-law naturalized.
I guess that since congress and the administration don’t need to follow the laws, why should anyone else?

Republicans may never win the presidency again until the media is properly rebuked or fixed.
The Rogue Tomato on November 9, 2012 at 10:23 AM
hmmm or the GOP embraces star power like Reagan and Palin had to get their message over the top of the media. I read an article back in 2010 that showed how much the free media Palin was drawing on a monthly basis. It came out to like 40-50million monthly in media coverage. That is what the GOp needs to win they can’t buy the election people tune out ads TV is a dying medium, radios are turned off when ads come on. No the gOP candidate must be able to keep the interest of the voters not relie on ad buys. But day to day have the voters tuned into their words and actions. Have them want ton listen to what you say. Give them hop of a better future. Make they buy into their love for country. the days of the same stump speech over and over are done. Politicans need to use the new media have a daily new speech new lines be fresh speak off the cuff. Make the people buy-in and give them skin in the game.

simple advice on what I think would work:
Gop needs to not be pro-big business but pro free market
not pro-war but pro military
not pro regluation but pro personal responibility
not pro abortion but pro-life
they need to ensure the pathway for rages to riches is there but they also need to ensure the pathway of riches to rags is there.
and support freedom in every case married to personal responsibilty. freedom of speech at universities freedom of religion against obamacare and HHS freedom to own guns in cities like Chi town and DC be for law and order. freedom to drill and use energy . freedom freedom freedom freedom.
This isn’t rocket science

Mind-numbing ignorance on Kraut’s part. We can’t win by out-pandering democratics because they can always one-up us credibly.
…and the democratics offer citizenship. Checkmate.
As long as they run the Executive, that’s a meaningless commitment from democratics.

If our only approach to bank-robbing was to build stronger and stronger safes while not punishing the bank robbers, I expect that people would say safes have never worked and never will.
If there’s no penalty for breaking the law, ‘the law’ is meaningless.
