Obama captured 48% of Cuban-Americans in Florida, highest ever for Dem
The figure for Mr. Obama is backed up by a national exit poll for media organizations that showed him winning 49% of the Cuban-American vote in the state. By comparison, he captured 35% of that vote four years ago. In 2004, Democrat John Kerry received 29% of the state’s Cuban-American vote, and in 2000, Democrat Al Gore won 25% of it.
The surprising development, given Cuban-Americans’ traditionally staunch support for the GOP, could help reshape U.S. policy toward Cuba.
Given his overwhelming support among Florida’s non-Cuban Hispanic voters, who make up a growing share of the electorate, Mr. Obama carried the state’s Latino vote overall by 61% to 39%, exceeding his margin in 2008 by seven percentage points. Together, both trends are accelerating a realignment of the state’s Latino vote, from once solidly Republican to now reliably Democratic, analysts say.

Doesn’t matter. People prefer fits of anger to rational immigration policy.
There is NO way to send 14 million people anywhere. Even discussing such a foolish proposition makes the entire right look obstinate and irrational.

Must be the ones born in stupid Amerika. The ones who suffered under the Cuba thugs are older and dying out.

NO one discusses it – so don’t inent it. You’re talking to yourself.
Schadenfreude on November 9, 2012 at 12:42 PM
I disagree. It’s quite simple. “Can I see proof of citizenship? No? This way please…Thank you”
Doesn’t have to be all 14 million at the same time.

really had some sway, huh?

I would never hire an illegal-immigrant. Document verification is easy. Background checks are even easier. As an employer I put my name on the line with every employee.
I don’t understand why more anger is not directed at companies and owners who hire illegals. Going after bad employers would not stop me from sending monthly and annual dues for several organizations national and local.
Lying to me about Romney’s prospects is the reason I’m saving $1200 next year.
Good immigration policy will get my attention BECAUSE IT IS A WINNING ISSUE. With good policy my taxes will go down, my life will improve. Until then I’m having to work harder than I should to live how I like.
George P Bush adds to the dynasty, ugh. But all the Bush men understand the importance of good immigration policy.

Don’t you just love all this racial harmony that Our Great Uniter has ushered in?
“We’ve finally become the divided states. A nation built on freedom, fear, and hate, the denotation of Irony …”
Irony indeed.
jawkneemusic on November 9, 2012 at 12:46 PM
So the GOP policy going forward should be that every twenty years we pass out amnesty to 14 million or however many happen to be here at the time? And we’re foolish, obstinate and irrational? Will you be hosting them in your home?
rhombus on November 9, 2012 at 12:46 PM
This is true. A lot of people have been saying that the current crop of Cuban Americans have become Americanized and don’t know Cuba from Timbuktu and are even wearing Che shirts.

michaelthomas on November 9, 2012 at 12:49 PM
That is how we lost Florida. It was only 50000 in margin for the entire state. The Cough/Cough, lack of absentee ballots for our military did not help either.
mwbri on November 9, 2012 at 12:50 PM
red herring
What you describe is not good policy. Redress is unavoidable. Ongoing amnesty or open-borders is not redress.
It’s obvious that you have only ever really discussed these issues on a blog. You’re not interested in a real discussion. You want to show off your conservative tail-feathers for the clucking hens. Your ignorance bores me.

I’ve extremely disappointed at comments about hispanics. I’m a republican but after some of the stuff I have read…..I really can’t blame Hispanics for voting Dem.
terryannonline on November 9, 2012 at 12:54 PM
NCIS is not real life, dude.
Law-enforcement is different than prosecution. In order to round-up people they have to be prosecuted and caught. Imagine devoting your household resources to searching for every person you’ve lost touch with in the past 15 years or so. Imagine that finding all of those people would bring you ultimate happiness.
Even the prospect of lifelong happiness does not make such an undertaking any easier, does it?
Capitalist Hog on November 9, 2012 at 12:55 PM
They vote dem because they love big government. It’s no different than those who flee states like California because they’re falling apart then vote for the same in their new state. Handing out amnesty is not going to convert all these illegals into conservative republicans. We give them amnesty, dems take the credit and will then have nearly 14 million new voters added to their many self interest groups.

Ya know I think I am going to dust off my old tin foil hat and say that there must have been some a lot of fraud going on. Obama got less than McCain did in this election and yet I still cannot believe he did this well. Either that or I cannot believe the electorate is this stupid.
melle1228 on November 9, 2012 at 1:02 PM
Perhaps we could give amnesty on the condition that they have to live in a blue state.
txmomof6 on November 9, 2012 at 1:03 PM
Really? Do you really think that, absent sending some sort of LEO organization to them, with orders to carry them, in whatever manner necessary, to the border and over it, illegal aliens from Mexico are just going to pick up, pay their own expenses and those of their families for travel back to Mexico, a place where their economic future is certainly worse than even if they continue working on the black market in America?
A place where… and let’s be honest here… for most of these people, even if we threw them in prison, them and their families, they’d be better off, economically, than as free people in Mexico. Because, at the end of the day, it’s an American prison, where they will at least be guaranteed shelter from the elements, and three nutritious meals a day. Oh, and in such an American prison, la eMe doesn’t pose as big a threat to their lives as it does in Mexico.
You really think there is a way to get them back there, short of physical repatriation?
Stop. Just stop…

I really don’t know what you are talking about. And seriously if hispanics want to vote Dem they are as stupid as women, blacks, gays and any other special interest groups. Dems give lips service and take these groups for granted. They do NOTHING for these groups and are even more out and out racist than Republicans. I mean fighting voter ID? How racist do you have to be to say that a minority is too stupid or poor that they can’t fricking drive themselve down to the DMV and obtain and ID that they need for everyday life?

17% of all US taxpayers are not in compliance with tax laws. Obviously there is NO way to send them all to prison for tax evasion. Let’s just grant them all amnesty, then all those people who commit fraud will now be on our side in the next election. (Side benefit, we can shut down the IRS.)
Any other laws you’d like to nullify? Let’s get a big voting bloc together and start our petition now!
CJ on November 9, 2012 at 1:13 PM
So go vote dem then, most of the comments you’ve run across are likely geared to the law breakers, and they are law breakers.
If it’s racism you saw then you need to break into a few liberal websites, their racism is just as bad as anything you will find at a conservative site.

Your posts on here reach breathtaking levels of Stupidity.
You seem to imply that we, as a society, simply DO NOT
have the resources to address this issue. Ever hear of ICE?
Do you know what ICE is?? Do you know what sector of our
society ICE operates in??
ICE IS PART OF OUR GOVERNMENT. It was created to deal with issues
such as this. Your tired cop out attitude is welcome on leftist
sites where NOTHING is fixable. We just throw up our hands and
say “well, it WOULD be nice if we could address this”.
My tax dollars, your tax dollars, and everyone’s tax dollars
PAY for this agency. Get your head out of your azz and
address this topic, instead of scolding everyone for
applying Conventional Logic to a problem facing our Nation.

The Obama regime has done a few of those raids, but they don’t arrest and deport the illegal aliens. They give them a flyer so they know where to go to collect welfare.

So prosecute the ones you do catch and crush those American citizens and businesses which look the other way when they are caught.
I don’t this simplified approach doesn’t have the requisite amount of concerned liberalness involved, that we’re supposed to embrace all of our “brothers” with Love, American Style, but the inn is full and the cupboard is bare.
The worst thing is, all of you who bleat the loudest about kumbaya with the world are the ones who would and do scream the loudest when your own jobs disappear to some guy who just jumped the border.

A fence, the same one that has been promised for decades, crushing enforcement of the immigration laws we’ve had on the books forever, and if necessary, mile-long trains packed with deportees.
Or my other plan: Ignore our laws in the name of brotherly love, let everyone in and have you pay for their care and feeding, maybe have a family live with you in your place.
You’re all for that, right? What? You’re sort of strapped right now, you would love to help, but you just can’t? Huh.

Better hope one of those illegals isn’t going for the same job as you though, because they might get it and then you would have to say “oh well”.
