Election’s over: Time for the inevitable spike in gun sales
Similarly, through early 2012, with the prospect of another four years of Obama approaching, gun and ammunition sales increased sharply again, especially for certain semiautomatic assault rifles. As for explanations of why sales have spiked, industry analysts and surveys among gun buyers all point to fears that the Obama administration would introduce tougher gun control regulations. The idea is that anyone interested in buying a gun (or several dozen) should act before it’s too late.
Now that President Obama has earned another four years and no longer has to worry about running for reelection, gun enthusiasts may be especially scared that it’ll be difficult if not impossible to get their hands on certain kinds of firearms and rifles. Background checks rose 18.4% in October, reports the Los Angeles Times, and it’s no coincidence that the stock price of shares of gun manufacturers like Smith & Wesson and Sturm Ruger and Co. got a major boost on Wednesday—the day after election day.

Buying a Glock 19 this week, but that’s just because I want one.
Has nothing to do with Obama.

I told all my Democratic sisters that they were getting emergency foodstuffs and bullets for Christmas. They were not amused.

Its not just Obama, hell we had looters running around “affluent” Long island last week.

I don’t think the House will cave on guns. We have to worry about amnesty though.
El_Terrible on November 9, 2012 at 7:53 PM
Just got me six 150mm howitzers as a stand off defense for the bunker. The reloads are a b1tch though.
BL@KBIRD on November 9, 2012 at 7:55 PM
It’s always time to buy a new gun. (funds permitting)

cobrakai99 on November 9, 2012 at 8:04 PM

Looking for a 1911.
kurtzz3 on November 9, 2012 at 8:15 PM
Husband just got his Federal Firearms License – it took months – lots more folks wanting to be dealers apparently. Opening a gun and ammo shop very soon.
Timing is everything.

Not quite sure why they are dissing one of the few sectors of the economy that is doing well.
I’m looking at reloading supplies and equipment. Guns are important, but without bullets…just metal clubs. (And if there is a TEOTWAWKI scenario, good trade goods! Also planning on learning how to make moonshine.)
Never can have a enough guns…nor enough bullets!
(Don’t forget your bore snakes, either!)

Yeah, I have been wanting to purchase an AR-10 (scary black rifle) for some time now. I think I better pick one up before Hussein gets his gun-grabbing on. In my state there is no firearm registration so no one really knows who has what.
iconoclast on November 9, 2012 at 8:22 PM
Got my shotgun before the election. Never can be too careful.

May I suggest a Springfield Armory 1911 Operator or S&W TA E Series?
jawkneemusic on November 9, 2012 at 8:31 PM
Picked up a new 1911 in August. Just placed a bulk order of .45 ACP.
jawkneemusic on November 9, 2012 at 8:32 PM
Pfft…his first election was all I needed to buy almost all the guns I require.
I’m looking at starting up with archery, now.

El_teriible- the House doesn’t take part in treaty ratifacation, only the Senate. And if they don’t vote it down, it’s in effect. UN small arms prolferation treaty tabled by Ried?
Buy up, people. They approved talks within hours of the election being over.
wolly4321 on November 9, 2012 at 8:45 PM
How will that treaty affect gun movement, manufacturing, ownership and sales within the US? I saw the head of the NRA trying to explain it to Gretchen from FOX and he wasn’t making any sense.
jawkneemusic on November 9, 2012 at 8:50 PM
Have a Springfield M1A. I ordered a JAE-100 G3 stock for it 8 months ago, so I should receive it in another 2 months. Can’t wait. Still deciding on what optics to mount on it.
Now I’m looking to get a Springfield XD/M subcompact for my carry pistol.
Fazman on November 9, 2012 at 8:59 PM
I haven’t read on it in a while, but I remember cataloging of all US arms and ammo was supposedly part of it, including civilian owned military style. So manufacture and ownership, not immediately. But do you want to be on a UN list? Historically, lists lead to confuscation, no?
wolly4321 on November 9, 2012 at 9:04 PM
I celebrated the election by buying another pistola. Where I live, it’s unlikely I’ll ever need it. But I figure it’s a good investment, as pistolas will be scarce as hen’s teeth in another four years.
Besides, pistolas make me feel compassionate, all warm and fuzzy.

I miss my .38 Super.
Lanceman on November 9, 2012 at 9:43 PM
You may find a good market in Louisiana sometime.
SailorMark on November 9, 2012 at 9:44 PM
Gotta be mobile, you should a got a 75mm pack gun.!
ol quote:
“Bullets are like bubble gum, if you didn’t bring enough for everybody, you are in trouble.”
orbitalair on November 9, 2012 at 9:58 PM
It wont affect anything inside the US. But look at how many weapons from new to surplus, and how much ammo, ammo components, powder and tools are made in Russia, Belgium, former Czechoslovakia, and former WarsawPact countries, and Isreal.
The first effect will be to drive prices for everything UP.
Best example primers: Russian $14/1000, CCI $34/1000. Remove the Russian supply and instant 200% increase.
orbitalair on November 9, 2012 at 10:03 PM
New guns? Got enough- thanks. If someone can turn me on to a good deal on 9×18 SP, I will totally owe you…
affenhauer on November 9, 2012 at 10:14 PM
Some kinda Makarov?
Lanceman on November 9, 2012 at 10:16 PM
Archery works, but flamethrowers can defeat body armor – you know, when Big Sis sics DHS on us. Just sayin’…
affenhauer on November 9, 2012 at 10:18 PM
A few different ones – love ‘em all but the P-64 is my favorite for some reason. Maybe because of the rumors of Polish in my background…
affenhauer on November 9, 2012 at 10:20 PM
P-64s are very cool. Also check out the CZ82 surplus gun. They run right around $200 and are very accurate.
stvnscott on November 9, 2012 at 10:42 PM
CZ82 are excellant choices.
Wideners.com has very good condition P-64s.
I own a FEG PA-63, a 9x18MAK, in a PPK form, very handy, easy to shoot. Old Hungarian Police gun. However I have taken to loading my own ammo for this gun, and extra magazines are getting rare, and are now about $50 each.
