As Rush said today, we did not lose the Hispaic vote over illegal immigration, they are all here and established. That wanted free stuff. Blacks have admitted that they vote for Obama because of the color of his skin, not the content of his character. When we sacrifice our core beliefs, we become Democrat-Lite.

That is when the REpublicsn will fade away, like the Whigs.

BS… We lost the Hispanic vote over immigration. Just because they are here and established (whether legally or illegally) doesn’t equate to them not wanting their families and friends in their home countries to come here as well (legally or illegally), and what they “heard” was keep the immigrants out. I know that for the most part that’s not what Romney/GOP said, but that’s what they heard. Perception is reality as they say.

I’m not saying to sacrifice our core beliefs my friend, that’s just what you “heard” me say.

I think a better tactic would be to educate minorities. But I think what you want to do is to water down our principles in order to be more palatable to leftists.

Bite me.

Not once did I ever say that we should water down our principles davidk. I said water down the rhetoric, there is a big difference. Argue our point strenuously and win the argument.

I didn’t know your family was from Cuba. I’ve mentioned before that I was born in FL pre-Castro, and a secretary in my dad’s office gave me a little jacket with a Made in Havana label that I still have. I went to school in Florida with the children of Cuban refugees and had a high school Spanish teacher from Cuba who heartily despised Castro.

Yes generally the Cuban community, is the most loyal of GOP constituencies, and there is no reason why the GOP can’t get a few other minority groups in the tent. Asians for one.

Look bottom line the way to win over minorities, is not by pandering to them, but by reaching out to them and showing them why conservatism is what is better for them.
Bottom line outside of Cubans who understand the horrors of Communism/socialism(like me) most hispanics are indoctrinated in socialism and still love it. See Puerto Ricans and Mexicans.

Again Asians are the most natural GOP constituency, we were winning them 75%+. GW Bush got close to 60% of the Asian vote.

We need to bring them back to our tent. Don’t know why they even left.
