“It should have been a landslide if Romney had run as a true conservative”
“The battle to take over the Republican Party begins today and the failed Republican leadership should resign,” said Richard Viguerie, a top activist and chairman of ConservativeHQ.com.
He said the lesson on Romney’s loss to President Obama on Tuesday is that the GOP must “never again” nominate a “a big government established conservative for president.”
Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots said Romney failed to make the kind of strong case for conservatism that would have won the election.
She described Romney as a “weak, moderate candidate hand-picked by the country club elite Republican establishment.”
“They didn’t see a clear distinction so they went with what they know,” she said of voters.
“It should have been a landslide if Romney had run as a true conservative,” said Brent Bozell of the Media Research Center.

I really don’t expect much from the GOP at this point, and I am done with giving them the benefit of the doubt. Romney was the Bob Dole of 2012 and people are insisting that he ran a perfect campaign and so should not be blamed for losing to the worst president ever.

I’ve got to run. We have company coming this weekend for a family wedding. Carry on peeps.

Another myth is that the electorate was too stupid to see the shining conservative excellence of such a perfect candidate as Mitt.

Missourians don’t like crazy people any more than anyone else. And we’re not a given red state when it comes to anything other than presidential politics. We reelected a Democrat governor, senator and treasurer and elected a Democrat secretary of state. We needed a candidate who seemed like a normal person. Pro-life was a given, our GOP candidates are always pro-life. But we needed one who didn’t espouse a “magical uterus” theory of rape-related pregnancy.

I think a better tactic would be to educate minorities. But I think what you want to do is to water down our principles in order to be more palatable to leftists.
Bite me.
How’s that for toning it down?

As Rush said today, we did not lose the Hispaic vote over illegal immigration, they are all here and established. That wanted free stuff. Blacks have admitted that they vote for Obama because of the color of his skin, not the content of his character. When we sacrifice our core beliefs, we become Democrat-Lite.
That is when the REpublicsn will fade away, like the Whigs.

Heh. It’s not as if the GOP had no warning.

Must have not seen the exit poll then. “Moderates” went 3-1 to Obama.
Look bottom line the way to win over minorities, is not by pandering to them, but by reaching out to them and showing them why conservatism is what is better for them.
Bottom line outside of Cubans who understand the horrors of Communism/socialism(like me) most hispanics are indoctrinated in socialism and still love it. See Puerto Ricans and Mexicans.
Again Asians are the most natural GOP constituency, we were winning them 75%+. GW Bush got close to 60% of the Asian vote.
We need to bring them back to our tent. Don’t know why they even left.
Raquel Pinkbullet on November 8, 2012 at 1:19 PM
huh?
Raquel Pinkbullet on November 8, 2012 at 1:20 PM
Yes generally the Cuban community, is the most loyal of GOP constituencies, and there is no reason why the GOP can’t get a few other minority groups in the tent. Asians for one.

Not once did I ever say that we should water down our principles davidk. I said water down the rhetoric, there is a big difference. Argue our point strenuously and win the argument.
Bite that.

BS… We lost the Hispanic vote over immigration. Just because they are here and established (whether legally or illegally) doesn’t equate to them not wanting their families and friends in their home countries to come here as well (legally or illegally), and what they “heard” was keep the immigrants out. I know that for the most part that’s not what Romney/GOP said, but that’s what they heard. Perception is reality as they say.
I’m not saying to sacrifice our core beliefs my friend, that’s just what you “heard” me say.

Most moderates are liberals that just don’t call themselves liberals.
