Top Obama backer: He’ll be unleashed in his second term
“He doesn’t have to play to get re-elected anymore, which is huge,” said Chicago supporter Jim Slama, who first met Obama in 2001. “It frees him to be who he is.”…
“I’m hopeful,” said Slama. “He’ll try to play to the middle, but he’s got the Tea Party to deal with, and he can take out his baseball bat and wail away and he won’t have to worry about the implications of re-election.”
With the election of progressive Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts, and Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, Obama’s long time backers feel the liberal spirit inside the president could be unleashed: climate change, gun control, and immigration reform perhaps heading to the top of the agenda. (After, that is, the “fiscal cliff.”)

Things to watch out for:
Income equity
Housing equity
Food equity
Medical equity
You think Affirmative Action was bad? You ain’t seen nothing yet.
Now that we’re approaching the debt limit again, and Little Timmy is already flexing his “Extraordinary measures” muscles, keep an eye on your savings and retirement accounts (401ks, personal checking, IRAs, etc.).
Before this is all over, the US Government is going seize your savings and re-distribute it.
Welcome to the end.

Thuggery won.

First they have to seize the guns. Before they complete the final takeover they have to get the guns.

If you don’t think that’s on the long-term agenda, you haven’t been paying attention.
Washington Nearsider on November 7, 2012 at 3:23 PM
Are you being serious?
Did the House have anything to do with giving power to the army of czars?..did the House get to O.K. his EO’s?..all spending has to originate in the House. Did they have a say in Obamacare?..ruling DOMA “unconstitutional” because thats what he thought it should be. How did the system of checks and balances turn out for those things?
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 3:23 PM
Barack Obama is a brazen punk with no regard for the Constitution or rules or protocol. He’ll do whatever the hell he wants to, via Executive Order or some use of his unelected “czars” or whatever.
And the most resistance he’ll get from Congress is a harshly worded censure from John Boehner.
Right Mover on November 7, 2012 at 3:24 PM
I’m sure getting rid of talk radio and Fox News is on his agenda as well.
darwin on November 7, 2012 at 3:24 PM
You seem to think he respects the Constitution and intends to abide by it in his second term, since he didn’t respect it in his first term.
Just answer this question and you’ll know exactly how things will occur in the next 4 years:
According to the United States Constitution, who has the Constitutional authority to declare the Senate in recess?
BobMbx on November 7, 2012 at 3:25 PM
I pity the fools who are ordered into the Okefenokee or the Everglades to tell those people they need to give up their guns.
“Southern Comfort” isn’t just a river in India.
Bishop on November 7, 2012 at 3:25 PM
Only because he finally realized that nobody in the U.S. wanted to house those prisoners. He still had to run for his second term. Now, he can revisit this. Maybe release some of them. Who knows?
Bitter Clinger on November 7, 2012 at 3:25 PM
I’m neither but you are ignorant of history. He couldn’t even close Gitmo with a Democrat-controlled Congress. He couldn’t pass cap-and-tax. He couldn’t pass card check. He did get Obamacare through but it took months and that was with total Democrat control in both houses of Congress. If he couldn’t get everything he wanted then then why should I believe he’s going to get it now? Your depression is clouding your judgment.

I’m willing to bet it’s near the top of the list.
You know, for the children.
Washington Nearsider on November 7, 2012 at 3:29 PM
No, they don’t. They simply decree it. They order the banks to convert your cash into US debt instruments, which don’t mature until you reach retirement age (BTW, which is set by the government so they could set it any age they wanted…120 sounds good….and since you’re dead, your savings are canceled).
Stroke of the pen.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Why would they be buying up hollow points by the millions?
Washington Nearsider on November 7, 2012 at 3:31 PM
Heh. You kidding? We’re ALL on a list somewhere at Large Sis’s.
Lanceman on November 7, 2012 at 3:32 PM
I know you all are frustrated, but you can’t give up. So many have given their lives so we could live in a free country, and each one of us should be willing to do the same.
I’m a veteran (like so many others here) and if I was willing risk my life in a hellhole like Afghanistan, then why wouldn’t I be willing to do the same here. THIS IS THE REAL FIGHT FOR FREEDOM!!!
Fazman on November 7, 2012 at 3:33 PM
He can close Gitmo now by executive order since he does not any longer have to worry about people not wanting terrorists in their back yards. He can get cap-and-tax or something that yields the same result through the EPA. He can get card check through NLRB regulations. He just got defacto amnesty through executive order and is likely to extend it now that the election is over.
He has, in recent months, shown a proclivity for going around Congress whenever it suits him. The House to Zero is what a Yorkie is to a burglar.

Sachiko on November 7, 2012 at 3:37 PM
They don’t need to confiscate the guns, because they don’t need to go door-to-door. They can take your wealth electronically unless you bury it in your backyard. And in any case, they have tanks and planes and drones and these big ships that planes land on and these boats that can go underwater and bayonets and horses and stuff. Your AR-15 is but a pea shooter.
stvnscott on November 7, 2012 at 3:38 PM
Yes it’s about guns. Tyrants are very paranoid. They want to feel free to abuse the citizenry however and whenever they want. An armed nation creeps them out.
darwin on November 7, 2012 at 3:39 PM
Don’t really care if I get banned. Our country is being purposely destroyed while we all sit around like cowards watching it happen.
Commenting on a blog isn’t going to save a damn thing.
I took an oath to defend the Constitution from enemies, both foreign and domestic. Well, it’s been apparent to me for several years now that the biggest enemy is domestic.
Fazman on November 7, 2012 at 3:40 PM
No one wanted the Gitmo scum…so he just released most of them..he will be able to close it now based on cost efficiency..too costly a facility for too few detainees.
Cap n tax…or its effective twin..is being done by the EPA.
Card check was a tidbit for unions. Not that important since the came out so well with getting taxpayer money to bailout their pension plans.
These are all small potatoes compared to what is happening..They are mostly diversions.
A tactic. A distraction. A varient of this.

Today’s US is not the one you were (and I) were risking our lives for. Its gone.
Who has stood up against the extra-Constitutional actions by the Administration? The Senate? The House? We have no recourse to get these transgressions to the Supreme Court, and if we did, how do you expect the ruling to turnout?
ObamaCare is a tax, even though it specifically says it isn’t right in the law, in the SCOTUS briefs, and during verbal arguments.
What recourse is left? If the rule of law as we knew it to be is no longer available to us, what do we do?
BobMbx on November 7, 2012 at 3:42 PM
Beat me to it.
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 3:42 PM
He closed Gitmo by Executive Order his first week in office. It’s still there because Congress refused to fund the closing of it. You think Boehner’s in the mood to spend money on that now? If you’re that divorced from reality I can’t help you. If he directs the EPA to do something similarly awful they can yank the funding for it as well. He’s a president, not a king.
alchemist19 on November 7, 2012 at 3:42 PM
I agree with you. A lot.
Where it gets tricky is now, after it’s become a little more clear that the electoral process is no longer an effective way of stopping tyranny or the inexorable march toward socialism.

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to arm Mexican cartels with weapons smuggled across the border. But it happened with zero consequences.

IIRC, myself and many here made this same point if bho was re-elected? But, those who get the ‘free stuff’ and elect people who will give them ‘free stuff’ won last night?
My heart aches so bad with just the enormous thought of what bho/team plans for our Republic in the coming years! AND it is NOT gonna make those who voted for ‘free stuff’ happy because we who pay for their ‘free stuff’ won’t have money to do so any longer?
Hubby and I are both 68 and we wanted so bad to help the young here to what our nation should be like with our vote. I know a vast majority here on HA did the same? But is wasn’t to be!
Now, it is just one day at a time.

I’ve got my sidearm, but have never really felt the need for a long weapon. I do now.
I’ve got a budget of about $1,000, and am in the market for something dependable out to about 300m. If it’s further than that, I don’t need to shoot it.
Thoughts or input from the locals here?
Washington Nearsider on November 7, 2012 at 3:47 PM
Fast and Furious is was a terrible idea with tragic consequences but it’s very likely it didn’t originate in the Oval Office. Even if it did there’s plausibile deniability. Big difference between that and an Executive Order designed to be an end run around Congress.
alchemist19 on November 7, 2012 at 3:47 PM
He has more flexibility now.
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 3:47 PM
I wish I had an answer to that. I live in Texas and there are a few people here who talk of secession. I think that is totally unrealistic and wouldn’t work unless other states followed our lead.

But lacks the unchecked power to use it as he would like to.

Unfortunately we no longer live in a free country. You can’t fight with your vote because the numbers are against it. You can’t beat Santa Claus. I cried last night and this morning looking at the flag (which hangs on the wall in a shadowbox) that covered my dad’s casket and what it represented. He and his 3 brothers were in WWII. This is a pain that I haven’t felt since my dad died in 2007. Would I take to the streets ala Yorktown and defend this country? In a minute. My ancestors risked it all, eff it, I would too. Call me sappy but I would lay down my life for this country. But we’re in the minority. The lazy moochers and third worlders who came here for freebies wouldn’t. Hell, lazy regular Americans wouldn’t. Last night Obama extinghished the lights of the shining city upon the hill.
