Top Obama backer: He’ll be unleashed in his second term
“He doesn’t have to play to get re-elected anymore, which is huge,” said Chicago supporter Jim Slama, who first met Obama in 2001. “It frees him to be who he is.”…
“I’m hopeful,” said Slama. “He’ll try to play to the middle, but he’s got the Tea Party to deal with, and he can take out his baseball bat and wail away and he won’t have to worry about the implications of re-election.”
With the election of progressive Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts, and Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, Obama’s long time backers feel the liberal spirit inside the president could be unleashed: climate change, gun control, and immigration reform perhaps heading to the top of the agenda. (After, that is, the “fiscal cliff.”)

I know how you feel Ann. I remember how much pride I felt when I served in the military. Sometimes I would just stare at the colors and think of all those that came before me.
Now a part of me regrets I ever served.

This, like Fast & Furious, hasn’t been decided by the courts yet, has it?
Anti-Control on November 7, 2012 at 3:57 PM
What are you, Barks lawyer?
Maybe you can explain where DHS got the authority to override the INS grant basic amnesty to certain groups of illegal aliens.
antipc on November 7, 2012 at 3:58 PM
You’re still missing the point. Seriously, what’s the point of being all depressed? I did my soul searching last night. 2016 begins today. Buck up and get with it!

Fully built nice piece of kit for $1000?
Bravo Company
Palmetto State
S&W
Sig
Rock River
Colt (second hand)
You can get far better quality (that you probably don’t want) for more cash if you like from different manufacturers.
If you’re strapped for cash and don’t want to do some gun assembly, just buy a couple of full lowers. When the EO comes down, that’s what will be EO’d out. Buy your upper at your leisure then.
Might want to get some mags too.
(Waits for Bishop to turn up and call BS).

Thanks man, I needed a good laugh!

This is all unauthoritative opinion, which defies the evidence we have at hand about Fast & Furious, and common sense as well.
Anti-Control on November 7, 2012 at 4:01 PM
You’re going to have to explain that a bit more.
For the record, I know exactly what you’re going to say and I hate that I’m having to do this.
alchemist19 on November 7, 2012 at 4:02 PM
It’s funny you should mention that. I took my mom on a tour of the LBJ ranch and the “Texas White House” this past weekend. The park ranger that guided our tour spoke about how great his Great Society and Head Start programs were. I wanted to scream at her.
Fazman on November 7, 2012 at 4:04 PM
The real killer will be the attacks on oil and gas … not to mention an unchained EPA which subscribes to the UN’s idea of “sustainability”.
Private property will come under assault. The left wants to restrict land use dramatically.
darwin on November 7, 2012 at 4:04 PM
What are you basing that on in the context of what he has already done?
This is not something that he has ever hidden.
On several occasions he has plainly stated that he will use whatever means necessary to get his agenda accomplished. You seem to be comparing him to the methods used by past presidents.
This is a horse of a different color, and the color is red.
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 4:06 PM
I’m missing the point?
You just changed the subject to one of relative moods.
Get with what exactly?
Maybe you’re on to something good. Share it.
What’s your plan to stop this tyrant?
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 4:10 PM
Look at the military now. It’s become Obama’s petri dish of social experiments. Gay soldiers allowed to wear their uniforms in gay pride parades??? I don’t give a flip if you’re gay, but don’t disgrace the uniform or use it as a political prop. And I’m sorry, I don’t want women Seals. Nor do I want women on the front lines. Obama will barely let the soliders use slingshots. Welcome to Obama’s military, where a radical Muslim whacko can gun down soldiers on base and it’s “workplace violence”. I could go on and on and on, but it does no good.
TxAnn56 on November 7, 2012 at 4:11 PM
He did a lot in the first two years when he had a compliant Congress. Boehner’s slowed him down considerably and now we’ve got an even bigger majority in the House.
What methods do you think he’s going to use that he hasn’t already? The one I keep hearing is Executive Orders but I’ve already cited an indisputable example of how an unwilling Congress can stop him even if he goes that route. So what else is he going to do that will wreck the country even more and how is he going to do it?
alchemist19 on November 7, 2012 at 4:13 PM
You changed the subject into something about how plausible deniability is an end run around Congress which makes no sense and has nothing to do with anything. Rather than get lost in the weeds I’m trying to find out what you think and why you think it.
alchemist19 on November 7, 2012 at 4:15 PM
He doesn’t have to use any new methods. Just push the ones he has already set precedents for push it until there is pushback…and then shove a bit more.
Seriously…what would someone do??..start impeachment proceedings??
This is new territory.
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 4:18 PM
I disagree. You mentioned plausible deniability. I think that it is a means of side stepping, not only Congress, but the truth.
What I think is that a tactic that has been proven fruitful in the past is a likely indicator of future strategy. If a fruitful tactic has been used to success in an environment of guarded behavior, because of the fear of losing power, then when the danger is past, expanding on that tactic just makes sense.
Again I ask, what is the force to use against this?
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 4:30 PM
Especially red states, we’re going to get it in the neck, because the blue states voted for “revenge” – although I’m a little hazy on what exactly we did to warrant it.
Rebar on November 7, 2012 at 4:31 PM
Likewise.
So what is your plan to stop this tyrant who has been unleashed of accountability?
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 4:33 PM
I went back and looked at what you mean by this.
The House didn’t get to okay his Executive Orders but they can take the teeth out of them. They’ve certainly done it before. The House had a big say in Obamacare but that was before the Republicans took control. As for DOMA, he instructed his DOJ to stop defending it but that’s not exactly a big power grab (and SPOILER ALERT: DOMA’s going down in the courts eventually anyway). I’m not saying it’s going to be all sweetness and light but it’s not time to close up shop and move to Costa Rica yet. What’s left of America is still worth fighting for.
alchemist19 on November 7, 2012 at 4:42 PM
Like a rabid dog.
Socratease on November 7, 2012 at 4:45 PM
My plan is to obstruct him in the House just like we did with Clinton for six years and with Bam for the last two, wait for the second term swoon that happens to all presidents, expand our majoroty and retake the Senate in 2014, then get a decent conservative in the White House in 2016 and start undoing as much damage as possible. I took my time to be down in the dumps last night, now I’m optomistic, fired up and energized. We lost a battle but I’m not surrendering the war. We can still beat back these awful socialist toads.
alchemist19 on November 7, 2012 at 4:46 PM
Just pointing out that Bark has done things you claim he can’t do and got away with it. I take his threats to act without Congressional approval serious.
antipc on November 7, 2012 at 4:46 PM
Wow, that was fast. Boehner has already rolled.

We believe in freedom and capitalism, and leftists hate both with a passion.
Fazman on November 7, 2012 at 4:49 PM
The House can try to take the teeth out, but that is just a political maneuver. You make it sound like its an either or matter. Its not. Any motion can be met with a counter motion.
You miss the point on DOMA. Obama basically declared it unconstitutional and used that basis to instruct DOJ. That is the point. Deem it so. Deem that Obamacare originated it the House..deem the powers and budget of a czar is valid. etc.
Thats the power grab, and it is a big one because it is not specific to one issue. It sets a precedent for future actions.
I have no doubt that because of last nights outcome DOMA will fail in SCOTUS. Thats also the point. A loaded SCOTUS.
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 5:17 PM
Well I’m glad you’re so positive.
That said, what exactly did we obstruct him from doing for the last 2 years? Power to the unions?..spending 1+ trillion a year?..vanishing and untrackable tax dollars..hundreds of billions.. in bogus green “investments”?..stopping the flood of illegal aliens?..
Mimzey on November 7, 2012 at 5:27 PM
Unleashed?
Try handcuffs.
Resist We Much on November 7, 2012 at 5:35 PM
The silver lining in Obama being ‘unleashed’ is that it will have to be done through Executive Order. Dems cannot claim bipartisanship or seek to shift some blame to Republicans when disaster ensues because ‘they voted for it too’. This is why the House is an important firewall to deny Obama any significant legislative victories. Yes, the media will be withering in their condemnation of the ‘obstructionism’, but I hope they stand up to him, own the label, and do what they need to do anyway.
