If we were going to lose anyway, we ought to have run someone like Sarah Palin. At least that way Americans would have had a clear choice and we’d all know what they chose.
joe_doufu on November 7, 2012 at 2:28 AM
Yes a clear choice between an insipid sad flunked out moron and a transformative political figure. That would have been so much harder.
I’m surprised you can afford a computer.
Let’s be clear: The much-maligned John McCain had virtually no chance to win in 08. Our new hero Mitt Romney had four years of fail to draw from and blew it.
This epic choke makes the slow roller to Bill Buckner look like a screaming line drive.
Mr. Wednesday Night on November 7, 2012 at 2:00 AM
Sorry, but we failed. It has been coming. 40+ years of liberalism, a growing welfare and apathetic state, dumbing down of the population, lack of accountability and letting the media run rampant.
Until we turn back these issues we will not win. Romney was just another sacrifice in us not fixing this.
The far right doesn’t even realize they are what is wrong with America right now. They can’t figure out why we keep losing when we keep getting further and further away from the voters…
petunia on November 7, 2012 at 2:29 AM
Yeah. Too bad we didn’t nominate someone like Mitt Romney.
The far right doesn’t even realize they are what is wrong with America right now. They can’t figure out why we keep losing when we keep getting further and further away from the voters…
amazing.
petunia on November 7, 2012 at 2:29 AM
Define far right for me please. You can’t blame this on social conservatives. The fiscal issues were/are obvious and a supposed majority of voters have chosen to stay the course.
Going more moderate also hasn’t worked, many don’t believe it and the dems will just keep on demonizing the repubs more and more anyway. Its like the lewinsky deal. You had feminists supporting clinton, in complete opposition to their ideals of equality and workplace harrassment. But yeah, keep on courting the hispanic vote, odds are you won’t get anywhere.
Steyn has it right. They should’ve tried hardball but they went softball. I know why they did it, known it for months and it made some sense. Boy howdy we seem to have believed our own hype. I fell for it in the end. Not anymore. If the RNC/GOP wants to keep going down this path, I won’t be joining them. We saw how they treated grassroots folks at the convention, tea party and paulians alike.
I am going to enjoy one thing in the next few years. Washington and Colorado citizens dealing with their messiah suing them for their new pot laws.
The far right doesn’t even realize they are what is wrong with America right now. They can’t figure out why we keep losing when we keep getting further and further away from the voters…

Yeah, America deserves Barack Obama.
America deserves every little bit of him they are going to get.
This is what you wanted, kiddo, and I’m gonna enjoy every moment watching you get it.
Well, it now begs the question – which wishy-washy, RINO, flip-flopping establishment candidate will the GOP Ayatollahs nominate NEXT?
DOLE – DOWN IN FLAMES
MCCAIN – DOWN IN FLAMES
WILLARD MCDOLE – DOWN IN FLAMES
Hey man, wouldn’t you have rather LOST this election with someone like Sarah Palin or Rick Perry who would have at least been in the media’s face about REAL CONSERVATISM the entire campaign?
You got two choice Republicans – move left and change your demographics to attract some AA’s and Hispanics or …
You can become a Rebel Party now and fight like a real opposition party.
And to think I’ve been laughing at the Dkos folks all week for even thinking Obama had a chance.
LMFAO! They were right about this election!!
And the pollsters – they were right too. Oversampling Dims? Hmmm – guess they really didn’t now did they? And again – they were correct to plan on the same kind of turnout as 2008.
I like Rush (a lot) but he is going to have one helluva difficult show to put on this morning.
The far right doesn’t even realize they are what is wrong with America right now. They can’t figure out why we keep losing when we keep getting further and further away from the voters…

For real. I cant believe the GOP nominated that far right lunatic Mitt Romney.
Seriously, who will the Dems. run that has a viable chance?
Midwestprincesse on November 7, 2012 at 1:42 AM
Obama as in M. Obama. She has already hinted at running and do you really think this nation would pass up the chance of having a historic fish black woman president? Heck. just hand it to her when she says she is running because there is no way, no how she would lose. Same way that there was no way, no how BO would lose his second term.
In a way I’m happy with the way we have been able to teach the RINOs like Brown and the morons like Akin a valuable lesson. Yeah, we lost the Senate and now the SCOTUS for the rest of our lives but we sure showed them. We also showed the repub establishment that running people like Mitt is a bad idea. Two thumbs up to all you folks that droned on about Mitt being no better then BO. Well, you should also be happy that it turned out okay for you guys.
I’m now going back to lurk mode and I’ll see you guys next election.
Canned foods and ammo come to mind. Alas, not much else.
CJ on November 7, 2012 at 6:29 AM
Back out of lurk mode for this one last comment.
You will not have any ammo or firearms after BO signs the UN small arms treaty and then via EO confiscates all fire arms. Sure that will be a few hold outs like the street thugs but 99.5% of legal gun owners will fall all over each other to get to the depots to turn their firearm in. Don’t think so? Just look at what happen in Australia and England.
It is going to long, hard four years of watching jackass Obama ruin the economy, expand the roll of the Federal Government and weaken the military ………………….. which by the way does use bayonets. At least we did retain control of the House, which needs to immediately begin an investigation into what happened in Benghazi. Obama should be impeached and convicted over that debacle. Right now I would take brainless Biden over Obama.
My wife had an excellent point this morning (forgive me if someone has already stated this here, but I can’t read through thousands and thousands of comments):
If there are enough people in this country to elect this fraud a second time (or for that matter, a first time), then he has already been successful in “fundamentally transforming” America.
It is over folks. There isn’t going to be any economic recovery. There isn’t going to ever be a great America to lead the world by example. Our founding fathers are rolling in their graves.
Sorry, but we failed. It has been coming. 40+ years of liberalism, a growing welfare and apathetic state, dumbing down of the population, lack of accountability and letting the media run rampant.
Until we turn back these issues we will not win. Romney was just another sacrifice in us not fixing this.
kim roy on November 7, 2012 at 2:59 AM
I really agree with you on this. Despite the fact that many more people in this country live their lives conservatively, they still want that progressive welfare state back up.
I’ve come into contact with a lot of people over the last 4 years who are fed up with Obama, but I am pretty sure there are many who voted for him for welfare reasons.
They want the freebies they think they can still get.
These are people who comb the local govt offices for possible bennies they can get.
I know a lot of conservative farmers who probably voted Obama bcs they are getting rich off of federal govt programs.
I have been watching this for years.
All of the minorities as well changing our demographics are voting Dem bcs they too want bennies.
Several generations of spoiled children used to not having to work very hard or having to be held accountable is why we’re in this mess.
I cannot blame Romney. He was not perfect.
But look at the destruction FDR leveled on this country. And he was voted in how many terms?
They loved him, Dem & GOP alike.
Bcs he gave them all free stuff.
And he indoctrinated the rest into a false sense of security with his welfare.
We’ll go Greece, it just may take a while.
My liberal in-laws are wanting grandchildren. I’m trying to think of any reason to give them any.
The Count on November 7, 2012 at 7:20 AM
Soon after 9/11/01, a caller to the Dennis Prager radio show expressed similar reservations about bringing a child into this world and country at that time.
Prager told him that (paraphrasing) “Having children is the ultimate expression of optimism.”
I think that’s true … and I would agree with you that it’s hard to find a reason now to be optimistic about the future. Good luck to you and the rest of us — we’re going to need it.
I guess we’re all Socialists now. It appears that tonight is the night that America and the American way of life died. Our founding fathers must be weeping in heaven at what has become of the country they fought and gave their lives for so that we could become a free nation. Tonight, ‘We The People’ voted to become just another extension of Europe.
If you had told me 4 years ago that this would become our destiny and that America and our ideals would and could be brought to it’s knees, I would have told you that you were crazy. Tonight, after watching Romney’s defeat, I would have to take that back and say that I was wrong. America was an idea who’s time apparently has passed. GOD no longer holds this nation in his favor…..we have turned away from him and he has turned his back on us this night. How sad for our nation and how terribly sad for the rest of the world.
All of the American veterans who have fought and died for this nation and other nations in war….tonight……..have given their lives in vain for the lofty ideals of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness that we used to hold so dear.
Thanks to all of you HotAir posters for trying to save our country.
We have been for a long time.
Much of the huge impetus turning in that direction came from FDR.
The communists have been very patient & skillful.
They have succeeded in making people accept soft communism.
Too many like slavery in soft chains.
But don’t kid yourself it happened with this election.
It started a very long time ago.
And it’s bcs people suck.
Blowback
