Paul Ryan will return to Congress
But first, he says he’s looking forward to spending some time with his family before resuming his responsibilities as House Budget Committee chairman…
Advisers had been weighing whether Ryan would be best served by returning to Congress for an eighth term if he were planning to run for president in 2016.

Paul,
Do yourself a favor. Don’t run for president.
Stay in Congress. The House is our firewall now.
KingGold on November 7, 2012 at 1:27 PM
With all due respect to Paul, BFD. Obama doesn’t care what Congress says anyway.
And from a purely practical standpoint control of the House, and thus the purse strings, did nothing to prevent any government agency from doing anything they wanted. we’re still up to our eyes in regulations and more coming and the Congress is still providing the money to keep the bloodsucking regulators in operation. So what good has his time in Congress actually done for the nation or the people? In fact, what good have any of the so-called Tea Party House members actually done?

He looked so sad last night

I did too. Still do.

I am very happy with Ryan. He needs to be in congress to do all he can for us since he isn’t our VP.
On the issue of dc, it seems dingy ding dong harry is at it again? Boy it didn’t take him long did it?

I’m with you on this one,
For now i’m rooting for a governor to run in 2016, someone like walker
OrthodoxJew on November 7, 2012 at 1:33 PM
That’s good news. We need his voice to vote for things like TARP, the bailouts, Medicare Part D, and raising the debt ceiling.
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 1:34 PM
Are you happy with him because you’re a statist liberal?
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 1:34 PM
heh. Though you forgot the AIG tax.
the_nile on November 7, 2012 at 1:37 PM
Nah, those were enough to make the point.
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 1:41 PM
Who really cares? Other than say Paul Ryan.
bgibbs1000 on November 7, 2012 at 1:44 PM
What do you all think about Paul Ryan for Speaker of the House?
ITguy on November 7, 2012 at 1:45 PM
So that he can make budgets that are meaningless and won’t get enacted?
Illinidiva on November 7, 2012 at 1:45 PM
Already asked and said no in 2010.
Illinidiva on November 7, 2012 at 1:48 PM
His brand is damaged, like it or not. I hate to see it.
a capella on November 7, 2012 at 1:49 PM
Unfortunately Kemp and Ryan have losing VP candidacies in common as well.
Illinidiva on November 7, 2012 at 1:54 PM
Yeah, Ryan won’t get anywhere if he runs for President. As much as I like the guy and think he’s brilliant, he just wasn’t that impressive on the campaign trail and he turned in a lackluster debate performance. I just don’t think he has “it.” Just pure competence and a good track record won’t cut it anymore.
GOPRanknFile on November 7, 2012 at 1:56 PM
Are failed VP candidates ever heard from again?
albill on November 7, 2012 at 2:05 PM
Palin and Edwards both were..
Actually, Ryan did a good turn on the campaign trail. He turned out to be a pretty awesome retail politician and his debate performance was deliberate… Rubio would have likely become Quayle and Christie would have tried to out loudmouth Biden.
Illinidiva on November 7, 2012 at 2:09 PM
He’s young. Some seasoning will do good for him.
pseudonominus on November 7, 2012 at 2:13 PM
Yes, he was a good retail politician, but when I say not good on the campaign trail, I mean in terms of persuasiveness. His debate performance was indeed deliberate, but unfortunately, that’s not what wins debates. He got run over, even though he won on substance. Rubio would have likely become Quayle? Really? You must have not seen his debate performances in Florida. He’s pretty darn good…much better than Ryan. Ryan is good in a discussion setting, but not in a debate setting.
GOPRanknFile on November 7, 2012 at 2:14 PM
Agreed.
GOPRanknFile on November 7, 2012 at 2:15 PM
Umm.. Ryan pretty much beats the pants off of people on the Sunday news programs. The VP debate was a whole different ballgame. Biden was trying to get a gaffe moment out of Ryan and that didn’t happen. Rubio is much less seasoned than Ryan and would have been lured into a trap.
But please..let’s continue to delude ourselves that Rubio is totes seasoned and that he isn’t going to be the Presidential nominee due to Spanish fluency and skin tone.
Illinidiva on November 7, 2012 at 2:23 PM
You lose elections, and you people still don’t get it.
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 2:26 PM
Right. Like I said, Ryan is good in a discussion setting. National debates aren’t discussions, unfortunately. Rubio has been in plenty of debates and has been on plenty of Sunday news programs himself and I’ve never seen him stumped or or make a gaffe. He’s just good. There aren’t too many politicians who are quicker on their feet than Rubio. Ryan is a good politician for the Midwest, but Rubio is a superior national politician. You don’t make the incumbent, popular Governor of your state flee from the primary and then defeat him handily in the general election by not being a great politician.

How’s Senator-elect Bills in Minnesota doing, Paulbot?
KingGold on November 7, 2012 at 2:34 PM
Are you serious?
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 2:39 PM
Crist was a jerky RINO and lots of Republicans were waiting for him to get what was his. His support was always a mile wide and an inch deep. As soon as Rubio became viable, Crist was a goner. However, he has been a huge disappointment in the Senate. He isn’t a serious policy figure. So let’s please get over this notion that Rubio is a towering intellectual and political giant and realize thay he’s basically the Latino Obama.
Illinidiva on November 7, 2012 at 2:40 PM
Crist was a jerky RINO who was leading comfortably until people saw how impressive Rubio was. You don’t go from a 50 point deficit to a 30 point lead just because you’re “viable.” Do you think just any viable Republican would have defeated Crist? Highly unlikely. Rubio rose quickly as soon as people realized that he was something special. He’s nothing like Obama. Rubio has risen because of his own ability and hard work. Obama has pulled every dirty trick in the book to get where he is now. And plus if he’s the Latino Obama as you claim, then he has a pretty good shot at becoming President, no?
GOPRanknFile on November 7, 2012 at 2:48 PM
No, Rubio didn’t rise because people thought he was special; Crist fell due to his wet-finger-in-the-wind positions and his embrace of Obama. Rubio merely rode the tide of 2010.
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 2:51 PM
With all due respect (actually, not really), due to your obsession with birtherism when it comes to Rubio and Jindal, you don’t have much credibility when you offer your opinions on them. With that said, everyone knew Crist was a flip-flopper and the tide was already in full swing, but he still led comfortably so your theory doesn’t work. When people actually got to see Rubio, that’s when he rose.
GOPRanknFile on November 7, 2012 at 3:05 PM
As will Alan Grayson. Honestly, I think that is the worst news to come out of last night. Having to listen to that moron throw temper tantrums on the House floor again is hell.
VinceOfDoom on November 7, 2012 at 3:10 PM
I’m a Florida resident who, unfortunately and mistakenly, voted for Rubio. I’m very well of what was going on in my state.
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 3:11 PM
I’m very well aware of what was going on in your state as well. You don’t go from a 50-point underdog in a race to being asked to introduce the nominee of your party at the convention a few years later by just “riding the tide.” You’re asked to do that because you’re something special. He’s the most dynamic politician in the Republican Party.
GOPRanknFile on November 7, 2012 at 3:15 PM
No.
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 3:20 PM
Thats actually good news for us. With Allen West gone the Democrats have one less way to paint us as extreme blowhards, and with Alan Grayson in we have one more way to paint the Democrats as extreme blowhards. We’ll raise a lot of money off of Grayson’s insane statements, helping us in the long run.
vegconservative on November 7, 2012 at 3:29 PM
And thank god Allen West is gone.
Dante on November 7, 2012 at 3:41 PM
What a persuasive argument.
pseudonominus on November 7, 2012 at 4:24 PM
Lol exactly why I didn’t have even the slightest urge to respond.
GOPRanknFile on November 7, 2012 at 4:31 PM
And Rubio’s great accomplishments in the Senate are what exactly??
