Look who’s talking — but not writing checks
Lena Dunham, Madonna, Clint Eastwood, Bruce Springsteen, Natalie Portman, Stacey Dash, Robert DeNiro, Katy Perry, and Jon Voight.
In this election year, they have spoken out for their candidates; performed for them, sung of their virtues, and chastised their enemies. Some have caused their candidates embarrassment and overshadowed their campaigns of choice. …
Despite, by and large, sitting comfortably in the top 1% of the top 1% richest Americans, despite their outspoken support of their candidates, not a single dollar has come from the pockets of a single person on the list above toward either of this year’s candidates, their presidential campaign committees, or the national parties, according to the latest information available from the Federal Election Commission.

Why should they? Aren’t they used to having the government confiscate other people’s money for their pet causes? (sans Clint Eastwood).

Clint Eastwood’s contribution exceeded anything that he could have given monetarily. There’s been an empty chair in my front yard for two months now.

Happy Election Day, everybody.

I think it’s funny they compare donations to previous elections to this one. Hey genius, the economy wasn’t in the tank during previous election cycles like it is now.
Even the 1% are having financial difficulties. And they can thank Obama’s policies for that.

And up to a few weeks ago Michelle Obama hadn’t contributed to her husband’s campaign, either…I think she is saving up for the move to Hawaii.

I’m supposed to care about this, why?

And the implication is what? Apparently these people think they can contribute more in other ways

..notice how they equate support with writing checks. John Voight has been criss-crossing this country speaking on behalf of Romney and — arguably — jeopardizing his career in liberal Hoillywood. And, as pointed out above, Clint’s cut an ad and made a number of appearances.
What’d all of Obama’s hipsters do? A couple of under-attended concerts with foul mouthed rapper, some ditz squeezed into a sequined, form-fittig campaign poster, and an over-the-hill, befuddled has-been Rocker from NJ? A few dinner parties? Give me a f**king break!
..just don’t be late.

I make it a policy not to contribute any money to any politician or party. It only encourages them.

This is why I refuse to donate a dime to anyone. I want to be able to put my money where I want, when I want, without having my name, address, and phone number available to anyone who wants to check the FEC statements.
That’s the reform I’d like to see. I’m far less afraid of large amounts of money going to candidates than I am of the incredible lack of privacy.
Jerks are now trolling the voter lists to see if I voted two or four or eight years ago? None of their damned business.

How stupid is this journalist…they donate through other entities, like corporations, other non-profits.
They do not subject themselves to scrutiny by the IRS or campaigns for over donating, so they donate by name minimally, but max out other ways.
I know businessmen who have “donated” hundreds of thousands of dollars, and not one penny is contributed to them…and example from the other side, unions…
