Governor Christie’s misguided 1970s politics
First, Christie has threatened to prosecute businesses that would raise gas prices in his state, under price-gouging laws. That applies to gas-station owners who would be tempted to increase the prices at the pump in response to the recent gasoline shortages. In that, he is not alone since New York governor Andrew Cuomo has done the same. Anti-price gouging policies are always popular with politicians of all stripes, but they have terrible consequences for consumers. As George Mason University’s Don Boudreaux explains:
“Prices kept artificially low – prices forcibly prevented from reflecting the reality that gasoline and other staple goods are in unusually short supply – discourage the extra efforts required by suppliers in times of natural disasters to bring much-needed inventories to market. …”
Since then, Bloomberg News reported that Governor Cuomo is now trying to boost gasoline supply. However, Governor Christie has moved from one bad idea to another one: odd-even rationing of gasoline sales. That policy will also have the exact opposite effect of what the governor’s trying to do; it’s the Carter years all over again.

Cristie has stumbled badly in how he has handled this crisis, starting with his deep throat action with Oloser.

Thing is Christie would make three Jimmy Carters with a Rev. Sharps-ton left over.

The incredible shrinking NJ Gov.

Christie is just another statist.
MoreLiberty on November 6, 2012 at 11:55 AM
He’s irrelevant. Leave him alone. Stop picking on the fat kid. He’s been irrelevant since his pathetic speech at the RNC.

Ann Coulter always picks the wrong guy.

Fortunately, it sounds like The Stay-Puff Man burnt his bridges with the GOP’s conservative major players with his convention speech… he’s hit his peak in national politics

Ann Coulter says…?
(And to think that I once thought she had some relevance)

Damn straight Coulter always picks the wrong guy. Remember, she once dated Bill Maher!!!!!!!! Shudders
karenhasfreedom on November 6, 2012 at 12:03 PM
I couldn’t stomach the conventions, so I didn’t watch them. What did he say?
karenhasfreedom on November 6, 2012 at 12:04 PM
Those with talent – photoshop Obama and Christie’s heads onto a picture of Laurel and Hardy. Obama is that tiny and Christie’s head is that big.

And also Christie just said he cried after talking to the longtime Dem & O supporter Bruce Springsteen. We didn’t want to hear that about Christie crying. Part of being a politician is appearances, even after a storm. The left leaning climate change pushing Christie had always until ’10 been a token politician, never expecting to actually win in NJ. Why he was thrust to the virtual top of the Repub spotlight is puzzling. Probably because he was hefty and a blowhard, a unique look, but though “rino” may be overused it certainly is called for in this case.

He probably planning on running for President in 2016…as a Democrat.

This won’t play out well for Christy…we saw him with his pants down…wasn’t pretty
BigSven on November 6, 2012 at 1:06 PM
Me neither. My initial take was that he did well, now everyone is dissing the speech. Enquiring minds want to know, without being forced to watch the video.
AH_C on November 6, 2012 at 1:09 PM
His convention speech makes more sense now: Chris Christie cares about Chris Christie.. I have no interest in voting for him on a national level.

The best way to see a man for what he is is how he reacts under pressure, and Christie looks to be a fraud. Not a bad guy, better than Corine of course and a very good speaker when he’s not yelling at old ladies, but I suspected he was all bluster and it looks like I wasn’t too far from the truth. The man has been scared stupid by this hurricane desperately not wanting it to be his Katrina. His response to this storm has been entirely reactive, I see little signs of preparation. The only thing saving him from a full on national media assault is the election, his Obama photo op which pacified the media dogs for the time being, and the utter disaster that Bloomberg is.
Daemonocracy on November 6, 2012 at 1:45 PM
As mentioned above, it was in fact a good speech, but it was all about him and not Romney.
Daemonocracy on November 6, 2012 at 1:47 PM
Big Boy was filled with a lack of humility. Should have been a clue
Yep. Painful to watch. Made me wonder about the convention. Did they vet Big Boy’s script? If they did, suggests he is too useful, and that speaks poorly of those in charge. Not that they were fools, but that they were cynical. Try not to think about it.
Two kinds of RINOs. Those who hold the keys, and those who are reliable
Here’s the problem. There is much misleading propaganda from the Left, which is easily recognized by outsiders, but there is some bad propagandizing on the Right, for instance on the home run speeches generated by Christie. When the fat lady sings and they all say it sounds great, you gots to get your antennae up
entagor on November 6, 2012 at 2:02 PM
Good enough for me. Maybe that was his comeback for being passed over for VP. Anyhoo, while I liked his theatrics in dealing with hecklers, I never cared for his big-governmentis and anti-2nd Amendment and other decidely un-conservative views.
As others have noted, Ann Coulter confused her man-crush for a conservative crush
