Why I’ll vote for Romney
I don’t want to see Obamacare repealed. I don’t believe it will be, not even if the Republicans retake the Senate, which I don’t expect either. Precisely since the universal healthcare law will remain in place, I want to see it implemented by people who see cost control as the first priority – who will grant maximum flexibility to the states – and who will recognize how dangerous it is to finance Obamacare with taxes only on the rich. A law of benefit to all should be paid for by all, for otherwise beneficiaries lose all concern for costs…
Would Mitt Romney be an improvement over President Obama? I’d like to believe the David Brooks theory of the Romney presidency: that Romney will pivot away from Tea Party Republicanism as soon as he is elected. I don’t see much evidence in support of that theory, alas. George Romney, I’m told, liked to say, “As you campaign, so shall you govern.” Mitt Romney’s campaign has been one long appeasement of the most selfish and stupid elements of the Republican coalition, and the instinct for appeasement will not terminate with the counting of the votes next Tuesday.
But I also reject the Jonathan Chait theory that Romney personally shares the beliefs of the selfish and stupid elements of the coalition. Massachusetts Mitt – the Mitt who hurled himself into the battle for universal health coverage within his state – also came from someplace real. I believe they came from the place whence also came passages like this in Romney’s book, No Apology, a book whose middle sections pretty obviously were written or dictated by the candidate himself.

Every last citizen had the choice to pay in or not. It is called the vote. They chose to vote for the slavery of the young to the old. So I am not going to lose any sleep over any of them losing their benefits when they SYSTEM they voted for fails to be able to keep the evil promises they made.
FDR said it specifically, the reason Social Security taxes are separate from general taxes is to make the greedy feel as though they are owed.

Mitt Romney has allied himself with Tea partiers from the movements very beginnings. In 2010 he bucked the trend of “establishment” republicans by endorsing and contributing money to Christine O’Donnels senate campaign.

Grasping at continued self imposed ignorance. It is the evil you are that requires this.
Just simply make the statement: I failed to vote into power politicians that would get rid of Social Security because I was told that I would get more money out of Social Security than I paid for other people’s benefits. I know the money being paid to me in old age is not my money, but is money being forcefully taken from others, and I am ok having them be my personal servants (read slave) to provide for my old age.
Go ahead, wrap your evil little mind around the reality of Social Security pig.

Sorry, Frummie, there are those of us who will be doing our very best to remind President-Elect (Lord willing) Romney that we voted him into office to use that great business mind of his to put America back on a financially sound footing. That is the principle Tea Partiers adhere to. There’s nothing “stupid” or “selfish” about it.
Oh, and Frummie, I hereby dub you and David Brooks “Tweedle-Frum and Tweedle-D.” Now, shut up, the pair of ya.

Glad to hear you are okay! What would liberals do if they didn’t have Bush to blame for everything wrong in their lives? Sheesh.

See, the evil of you will always refuse to face the reality.

As a true Canadian conservative who lives vicariously through my brothers to the south and is tired of being represented by so-called “conservatives” like Frum (and Brian Mulroney and Ralph Klein) can I ask you find somewhere else to send him?
God Bless America. God Save The Queen.

This just in, I wasn’t around during FDR’s time and Social Security has never been on the ballot. Now I like you but your moral absolutism is beyond stupid. Despite your assumed intellectual superiority, you are in the same damn boat as the rest of us, doing the best we can with what we have. I actually see little difference in your arguments and the dumbass liberals who are afraid they might have to wipe their own ass.

Every time there is an election, voters decide what the purpose of the upcoming government is. They then get a chance to hold those in government accountable by either voting for them again or firing them for failing to do your bidding. Since as you say, not one election has been about getting rid of social security, the blame lies on the voters.

Our retirement isn’t through SS but it is through the federal government, you don’t think they would change that in a heart beat? Don’t forget there was talk of taking people’s IRA’s and 401K’s, I think you are missing the big picture.
