New Jersey to allow voting by e-mail and fax
Guadagno, a Republican, serves as the state’s top elections official. In one of her new directives, she instructs county clerks to accept absentee voting applications by fax or email up until 5 p.m. on Election Day and to accept ballots themselves electronically until 8 p.m. that day.
Under the directive, all voters displaced by the storm are deemed to be overseas voters under New Jersey law.
“I am working with State, county, and local officials to address election-day polling issues that have arisen as a result of Hurricane Sandy. Voters throughout the State are encouraged to take advantage of early voting options as made available by County Elections Officials,” Guadagno said in a statement.

The process of moving towards “not in person” voting was always a step towards eliminating traditional voting. Eventually, it’ll be all electronic, with no proof of who is actually voting, or doing the vote counting. Just digital garbage coming in & being counted.
Just think– if Dems are always in favor of early voting, absentee voting, unidentified voting, mail-in voting– you know it won’t be good.
Purple fingers look great in an election year for a reason.
Security Mom on November 4, 2012 at 1:26 AM
Are they kidding? We have not had power here since Monday. Schools aren’t reopening until 11/12. There are two story high mountains of sand.
How the h*** are you supposed to fax? The low information voters are too busy looting and lining up for their free fema food. People motivated to vote…..conservatives and tea partiers …..we’ll get to polls even if it is a military vehicle.
red131 on November 4, 2012 at 1:40 AM
You realize that some areas are still mostly inaccessible, right? Oh yeah, some of those places simply do not exist anymore or are still hazardous.
Also, the idea of subjecting people to long lines when they haven’t showered, eaten or slept enough would be ridiculous.
What is your specific response to these realities? Silence is probably best.
Capitalist Hog on November 4, 2012 at 1:07 AM
This is true. But it doesn’t negate the rights of those lames to vote.
Capitalist Hog on November 4, 2012 at 1:08 AM
If people can access email or faxes or are interested in voting, they can get to their polling place. Most people in the small shore towns live within biking or walking distance of their polling places.
So yeah for polling places that don’t exist, are hazardous, or inaccessible, obviously some special accommodation needs to be made. There is talk of military vehicles being used. Also, if people have to vote in different towns, that’s not something I have a problem with, as long as everything is double checked.
and the showered / not sleeping / etc thing is goofy. If people are willing to stand in lines for hours to get their FEMA food / checks, they’ll be willing to stand in line for minutes to vote. I’ve never had to wait more then like 10 minutes at any polling place… With paper ballots it should be pretty smooth and go quickly.
Voting by email / fax is absolutely ridiculous and dilutes the real votes out there, and is simply not worth the risk. If a few would be likely voters end up not voting because they simply cannot make it to a polling place, that’s a way better alternative then thousands of email votes that could potentially all be fake. It’s an unlevel playing field to everyone else in the country, and will call ANY results in NJ into question.

You can in WA too! Who cares if a majority votes for Rob McKenna? Say hello to Governor Inslee, baby!
fiatboomer on November 4, 2012 at 1:40 AM
i know there are storm-stricken areas but honestly i’d rather move election day back a few days than allow voting by email in any state. so much virus/hack potential it’s just crazy…
haha i have never done a fax, not even once. (but i’m 21) and for the longest time, i didn’t even know what it was! and i
kindaknow what it is by now but i still don’t get the point of it.lol. XD
but yeah they might as well allow text voting next. and then there will be power-vote cheating where people vote 10 times with one text- it’s like american idol >___<

Best argument for the Electoral College evah!

This sounds horrible ……………… and should be included in every How to commit Voter Fraud instructional manual. I don’t even like early voting. It just seems to me to give more time for people who will commit voter fraud to do their dirty deed. Thankfully, we don’t have it in South Carolina, yet. But, I am afraid every state is going to adopt it, both Georgia and North Carolina allow it.
SC.Charlie on November 4, 2012 at 5:08 AM
Since FEMA won’t be getting water out until Monday, why not just tell FEMA to pull its emergency relief trucks up to where the voting trucks are at?
And if you evacuated that means there MUST be some government office available to take an early ballot. If you went out of State then you might have to go back or see if the State can FEDEX you your ballot that you then fill out and FEDEX back because the paper ballot IS a legal document.
If you are not an evacuee, without power, then nothing electronic is going to do it… especially due to the lack of cellphone coverage, you can’t even get an internet connection via the cell system. Or a fax out, for that matter. Neither e-mail or fax are legal documents because they lack an ORIGINAL signature: a faxed signature is not acceptable. Your original signature, on a piece of paper, with a date and time, and sealed in a State provided envelope WORKS and is legal. Anything else is too prone to fraud to be considered. Your physical carcass is required to do the voting.
This is pure insanity as there is no REASON FOR IT.
ajacksonian on November 4, 2012 at 5:25 AM
I agree. This whole effort to get the uninformed, apathetic and just plain ignorant out to the polls is bad enough. If a citizen can’t be bothered to show up on election day and cast his vote in person he or she can just live with what others decide.
MJBrutus on November 4, 2012 at 5:38 AM
Waiting for the some govt. official to declare all votes are for Obama and if you disagree file your vote complaint or change of vote before 5 pm on election day…
albill on November 4, 2012 at 6:23 AM
Question of the Day!
Has there ever been a single election for Governor or US Senator in the State of Washington in the last 20 years that hasn’t resulted in massive voter fraud for the Democrats?
People talk of the legendary Louisiana, and LBJ going to cemetaries in south Texas to find votes in the 1960s. But we’ve got a new Voter Fraud Champ for the 2010s…
It’s Washington State.

Spit my coffee all over my voter registration card.
E-mail?
There will be 8 quadrillion votes cast then. NJ is sure getting crowded. Lawyers everywhere are rubbing their hands as they project how many gold coins will land in their accounts by Christmas.

Voting by e-mail?!? Oooh! Can I play… from Texas???

Given the political makeup of New Jersey, why doesn’t the legislature just award their electoral votes to Obama and postpone the statewide elections?
Bobbertsan on November 4, 2012 at 7:35 AM
Husband and I both voted early yesterday in NC and were really disgusted by the total lack of need for any identification. We wondered what’s stopping people from voting multiple times in different precincts? Now this guy’s boasting about it? ugh. I feel ill.
Bee on November 4, 2012 at 7:53 AM
Bad news: High probability of fraud.
Good news: It’s NJ so it doesn’t matter.
CJ on November 4, 2012 at 7:55 AM
Hey, lets all Fax in some ballots
jp on November 4, 2012 at 7:57 AM
Indeed, that’s how I voted from Shanghai. Go to the King County elections page, link from there for overseas voters. After you provide your name and DOB you fill out your ballot as a web form and when you’re done a PDF version of the ballot is generated. Then you print out a declaration and signature validation form, fill it in, scan it and send the PDF and image of the signature form by email.
At least two votes for Rob McKenna and Mitt Romney from China

SagebrushPuppet on November 4, 2012 at 8:38 AM
Why not text message so that people can vote whilst driving on the interstate (*the* way to text)???
CorporatePiggy on November 4, 2012 at 8:50 AM
this.
Lost in Jersey on November 4, 2012 at 8:56 AM
Isn’t that another way of saying getting the dead to vote? People text their vote, while driving at potentially high speeds endangering theirs and others lives. Then there is no one living to verify the texted vote(s) after a sixteen-car pileup on the Jersey turnpike. Yep, sounds like a well thought-out plan for the Democrats of New Jersey.

They are just setting the stage for challenging a Romney win.

Maybe you have forgotten the deep value and freedom inherent in voting. We American’s are taking our freedom for granted. These people haven’t:
davidk on November 4, 2012 at 9:21 AM
We have to think outside the box otherwise voters will be disenfranchised.

You realize I live in NJ and have experienced these conditions firsthand. I would crawl over glass to cast my ballot. You’re a fraud.
