ABC moves Pennsylvania, Minnesota from “safe Democratic” to “leans Democratic”
So, what is happening in Minnesota? Demographics. As our ABC/Washington Post poll has shown, Romney has a substantial lead among white men. Minnesota is one of the least diverse states in the country with 90 percent of the electorate in 2008 made of white voters. In other Midwestern states with small minority populations, like Iowa and Wisconsin, the Obama campaign has flooded the airwaves for months with anti-Romney ads. They have done nothing of the sort in Minnesota.
Moreover, the airwaves in states like Ohio and Virginia are already heavily saturated. The ground game is the name of the game now in those places. That means that SuperPAC’s with lots of money can get a better return on their investment on the airwaves in places like Pennsylvania and Minnesota than in the eight battleground states where the campaigns have been most heavily engaged.

When one removes the heavy D+ weighting these states are a toss up or lean GOP.

Ok…this drives me nuts and apparently it has changed permanently, but when did we start referring to the “Big D” Democrat Party as the “Democratic” Party? The usage is incorrect. Minnesota is now “Lean Democrat.”
Of course, I grew up in Minnesota with the Democrat-Farmer-Labor Party so I may just have a different regional view on this, but we never used the term “Democratic” to refer to to the Democrat Party.
Democrats don’t refer to themselves as “Democratic.” They call themselves “Democrats.”
I’m done.

First off Nate Silver says, Obama has 99.8761% chance of winning…Intrade has Obama at 115%…face it Wingnutz, you’ve lost it’s SCIENCE.
Any way, even if he’s elected all Obamney will do is betray you all! Yes that’s right BETRAY you! He will TRIPLE the cost of ObamaCare, increase your taxes, quintuple regulation, end the NFL,take your nubile daughters for nefarious porpoises, AND ban beer!
ONLY a vote for Virgil Goode or Gary Johnson is a good vote!

So in other words they consider states where Obama may have a lead of maybe 1-3 points as “Lean Democratic” rather than a Tossup…

Meh….all that matters is VA. So goes Old Dominion so goes the nation that night. Florida will follow, the rest will just be dominos, one way or the other.

He doesn’t have a lead there. They are probably tied or Zero is slightly behind. Remember the 2010 demo. It is not 2008 anymore. The world has moved on.
dogsoldier on October 29, 2012 at 6:56 PM
Hence my use of the word “maybe.” I’m judging from the word on the ground I’m hearing around Twitter and such from people in MN and PA, who have indicated that there’s excitement there and they think Romney is within the MoE.
Of course that was a couple of days ago, and they may be assuming while not 2008 turnout obviously, something more like D+2 nationally rather than the R+1-3 that Gallup and Ras have mentioned, so it may in fact be Romney with the narrow lead.

And yet, they have Florida as a tossup. Apparently 50 is too many for ABC to track concurrently.
