I guess debates don’t effect the outcome of elections. O wait, don’t tell Rick Perry, or Obama. Or Nixon.

This is why Suffolk polling is saying it’s no longer going to poll FL, NC, and VA because Romney will win them.

This is great, but just like everything changed in 90 minutes, anything can happen within the next 4 weeks. Let’s keep doing what we need to do. I feel good, but it ain’t over till it’s over.

Curiously absent from this thread.
And that’s a good thing.

Independents aren’t…independent. They are followers, and since Romney ate Obama’s lunch at the debate, they are going with him.

I saw Crazy Larry play Michelle Obama’s speech today for about half his show, thinking it was such a game changer and I just came away thinking it should be played over and over, for Republicans. It’s all about him. “Barack”. Not the country.
It will a pleasure seeing them marched out of the WH in January.

Too bad the election’s not today.
I’ve been
embracing my inner Eeyoretempering my enthusiasmcautiously optimistic on this election for some time now. I’m not buying the Unskewed site, nor am I buying a D+7 or greater turnout for this election, but I’m finally beginning to believe that Romney has a good chance of winning this handily.I’m not thinking 1980 Reagan big, but quite possibly 2008 Obama big.
JimLennon on October 9, 2012 at 11:42 PM
Independents will break 2/3 for Romney.
John the Libertarian on October 9, 2012 at 11:45 PM
Hmmmm…. yummi…. delicious independents!
Valkyriepundit on October 9, 2012 at 11:48 PM
If he’s winning indies by anything approaching what these numbers suggest, Obama will need huge Dem turnout to win. And who, outside of David Axelrod and idiot pollsters, think that is remotely plausible?
changer1701 on October 9, 2012 at 11:53 PM
This is why the election won’t even be close.
The kids are disillusioned because he neither paid their tuition nor gave them jobs where they make 100K and don’t have to work.
The independents are unemployed.
All he’s got is 99% of the black vote.
The rest of his base won’t even be motivated to vote because Obama has made THEIR lives worse.
Whilst the Republicans and other victims of this moron will walk through hell in a gasoline suit to vote to get rid of this idiot.

This is definitely an earthquake, signaling a permanent shift in the campaign.

If you guys are really believing that 15% of the electoral population changed their opinion from a government based system to a private based system thanks to one debate in which Romney basically reversed every position he’s held in the campaign thus far, you have a very, very rude awakening coming.

jawkneemusic on October 10, 2012 at 1:50 AM
If people changed their minds from what they saw a week ago, it’s because the debate showed vividly that Obama is a loser and people don’t like voting for losers.
thebrokenrattle on October 10, 2012 at 1:58 AM
This poll data is critical. Rs + Independents > Ds. If we get anything short of a D + 6% turnout, Romney wins.
johnboy on October 10, 2012 at 7:55 AM
Independents have had no reason to follow Romney until now. Many likely won’t follow the campaign closely. But they decided to tune in to see the debate, and I think they concluded Romney’s fine with them.
I’m probably as uncompromising as the next guy (“extremism in defense of liberty is no vice” and all that), but in reality to get something done, some element of compromise is needed to get DC functioning. It seems to me that the GOP needs to give away far less than they need to. At any rate, I think Romney’s pointing out to viewers that he, as a GOP governor, actually got some things done with a legislature consisting of 87% of opposition party members is pretty impressive. More than anything else, I think independents are tired of all the acrimony. For them, trading Obama for Romney will get rid of some of that acrimony.

I think you are right. I’ve always been ready to concede when someone has a point that may not totally square with my own, but has some merits. I used to take such a hard a$$ line on things, but working with people, you cannot do that & get things done. Like it or not, you have to respect the opinions & positions of most people, even if you do not like them. Especially when those people have some power you cannot outright thwart.
I personally have voted for democratic candidates in my state & local elections. They have been people I know & trust & even though they are Dem, I can respect them, though I cannot fathom these days why one would want to be a Dem, given their current platform.
I am, in fact, considering the Dem vote for our governor here in ND. Bcs I know him & his positions are understanding of ranching & working the land. And I have conversed with him before on topics. Before I ever knew he was a politician.
Dems can have good ideas. But their party’s been hijacked by insane destroyers & they really need to change that. It’s why I go GOP all the way at the national level lately.

These people are not smart or involved enough in information about how governments runs to consider this at all, IMO.
These people are concerned about fence sitting & the rocking of the boat. They don’t like when the boat rocks. They want people to ‘get along’.
They also want a leader to ‘fix’ things.
Leading a group of people who are opposites is very challenging & exhausting.
It takes a lot pf talent. I get exhausted trying to lead 85 teenagers a day in activities & debates.
Romney can do this if anybody can.
These people, & much of America, are hungry for a take charge, fair minded leader.
Romney is that kind of man.
Obama insults & divides people. I think these fence sitters are quite tired of that BS.
But keep praying for Bammy’s win. And America’s destruction. It’s nice to know what side you stand for.
