Romney tied with Obama in tracking polling conducted after debate
Registered voters’ preferences for president are evenly split in the first three days of Gallup tracking since last Wednesday’s presidential debate. In the three days prior to the debate, Barack Obama had a five-percentage-point edge among registered voters.
Gallup typically reports voter presidential preferences in seven-day rolling averages; the latest such average as of Saturday interviewing shows Obama with an average three-point edge, 49% to 46%, among registered voters. This Sept. 30-Oct. 6 field period includes three days before the Oct. 3 debate, the night of the debate itself, and three days after the debate.

Registered not likely voters too.
Still need to push push push. Long way to go and a lot can happen.

Has sleazy Eric Holder threatened to sue Gallup again?

I can’t wait to see the internals of these polls.
It’s registered voter screen, too. This movement looks promising.

They should have switched to LV by now. Last presidential cycle was Oct. 6 2008 that the sample changed over. They were probably scared sh*tless about reprisals from Axelrod/Holder to do it at the same time Romney is surging.

Like I said a couple weeks ago, I’m not even paying attention to polls anymore. Especially if they’re still using registered voters when the election’s a mere 4 weeks from tomorrow. It’s about turnout, people. If we show up and vote, we win.
Doughboy on October 8, 2012 at 8:34 AM
Why are they STILL polling registered voters? The election is in less than a month, well past time to switch to the “likely” model.

Gallup still using a registered voter model?

Romney seems to be sitting prettier than Reagan at this point. I remember the joy with seeing Carter the morning after, it won’t match the euphoria this time.
Marcus on October 8, 2012 at 8:35 AM
Is that a rhetorical question?
Because we all know why.
Bat Chain Puller on October 8, 2012 at 8:43 AM
It could get uglier. Reagan only had the one debate against Carter. Romney’s got 2 more cracks at Obama, including 90 minutes of nothing but foreign policy which by 10/22 could be the last thing Barry wants to discuss. And let’s not forget Paul Ryan being unleashed on Bite Me this Thursday.

Gallup sez 5-point debate bounce for Romney.
I wish that they would use some of the footage from the debates in ads. They obviously resonated with the public.
Rixon on October 8, 2012 at 8:50 AM
Obama is doing his best to remind everyone of the performance by putting out ads which contain debate footage. It’s surreal.
lorien1973 on October 8, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Wondering how much of this is really a Romney bounce and how much is Gallup trying to get honest with the polling before the election.
CableDude on October 8, 2012 at 9:03 AM
As others have said, why still registered voters? A five point swing is nice, though. I also heard during a news break that the GOP is leading early voting in NC and FL, which is encouraging.
