Claim: Obama campaign illegally solicited foreign donors through social-media website
About 20 percent of visitors to the “my.barackobama.com” social media website “originated from foreign locations,” the report found. That Web address is owned and controlled by the Obama re-election campaign.
“At no point during the [website's] subscription process is a visitor asked whether he or she can legally donate to a U.S. election,” GAI notes.
“Once a visitor signs up, he or she immediately begins receiving solicitations for donations. In fact, numerous foreign nationals report receiving solicitation letters and thank you emails from the campaign for their support. Some of these emails have been reposted on blog sites to encourage friends to click on the donate link or get their names on the email list.”

Here we go.

Have they stopped since 2008? Is it a felony? Mitt should comment on Letterman and make Dave’s head explode.
meci on October 8, 2012 at 9:20 AM
screening contributors for location/citizenship is like asking for an ID at a polling booth, or something……
ted c on October 8, 2012 at 9:20 AM
The ability to donate to Obama illegally has been known for years and is just now breaking?
stackedeck on October 8, 2012 at 9:20 AM
So how much of September’s $181 million was illegal?
forest on October 8, 2012 at 9:21 AM
This came up in 2008 and for some strange reason the MSM didn’t think it was newsworthy. After all, such donors are nothing more than Fellow Citizens of The World.
Drained Brain on October 8, 2012 at 9:21 AM
This won’t go anywhere. Too complicated to explain. If F&F didn’t get any traction, this story sure as heck won’t.
keebs on October 8, 2012 at 9:22 AM
I really hope DC is not the national magazine we were promised. If it is, it will be dismissed and no traction will come of it.
Zaggs on October 8, 2012 at 9:22 AM
Palace guard media will never report this. Absolutely never – not even if Newsweek picks this up.
The Count on October 8, 2012 at 9:22 AM
The difference here is that a claim is now being made that the Obama campaign is sending out fundraising e-mails to foreigners which is illegal.
Doughboy on October 8, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Nobody cares unless a Republican does it. Really. It is all part and parcel of being a Democrat. Bill Clinton made it the cool thing to do.
DaydreamBeliever on October 8, 2012 at 9:23 AM
Well, they got Al Capone on tax evasion.
Maybe we finally bring Obama Capone down with a donor scandal.
Hey, they are both from Chicago.
bitsy on October 8, 2012 at 9:23 AM
I hope this isn’t the fundraising scandal we’ve been waiting for this. This is the same crap from 2008 that no one seemed to care about.

From the daily caller
Lsm wont give this the tine of day sad to say
cmsinaz on October 8, 2012 at 9:27 AM
The Obama Administration has been one series of scandals, one after the other. If you want to make real news, find something they did that WASN’T illegal, dishonest or a failure.
Marxism is for dummies on October 8, 2012 at 9:27 AM
The hypocrisy here is on a scale that makes Mark Sanford look like a lightweight.
They did this in 2008, got caught, and had to pay back the money. Not sure where that payback money came from…
Then they rail about Citizens United. Apparently American corporations shouldn’t have a voice in America elections, but everyday Chinese allowed by their communist government access to the internet, should.
Then he rails against Romney as having some sort of nefarious ties to Chinese business, even though those investments -to whatever extent they exist- were with private money. Obama has ties to Chinese money by both selling them our debt and taking from them unreported campaign contributions. This would make Jimmy Hoffa Sr. blush.
They do it brazenly. Openly. And without apology because the media ignores it.
BKeyser on October 8, 2012 at 9:28 AM
I think there is more to come.
gophergirl on October 8, 2012 at 9:28 AM
Check Breitbart, there is a Chinese connection in all this as well.
RedRedRice on October 8, 2012 at 9:30 AM
I’m sure Eric Holder will be right on this.
stackedeck on October 8, 2012 at 9:30 AM
It’s sad. Now, it’s ok to criticize and “vet” Obama so let’s see what these journo-lists can do. If Newsweek wants to sell some magazines, this will help.
conservative pilgrim on October 8, 2012 at 9:30 AM
If you need a refresher or get up-to-speed, MM has the back story.
conservative pilgrim on October 8, 2012 at 9:33 AM
Weren’t they caught doing something like this before, i.e., a phone bank in Gaza or something?
Blake on October 8, 2012 at 9:34 AM
He’ll get an investigation going on Daily Caller.
forest on October 8, 2012 at 9:35 AM
The same bogus BS as last election with Obama. What is the worst that will happen to him? Absolutely nothing. He has that teflon coating on. The worst that happens is that he is fined after the election is over and all the money is spent.
astonerii on October 8, 2012 at 9:44 AM
None, in fact, we found that $100 million of it came from disillusioned republicans who hate how extreme the party is now!

So is this the “Big story” some said was coming out this week?
BallisticBob on October 8, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Color me eeyorish about this going anywhere as well. He’s teflon, nothing that should stick does. It’s disgusting.

Concur, and I doubt he would have been distracted by this at the debate.

Who wants to bet Monir, Hosam, and Osama Edwan of Rafah, GA (Gaza Strip) donated to Obama again?
