Former top U.S. security official in Libya: My unit was pulled out of the country in August
Lt. Col. Wood has told CBS News and congressional investigators that his 16-member team and a six-member State Department elite force called a Mobile Security Deployment team left Libya in August, just one month before the Benghazi assault. Wood says that’s despite the fact that US officials in Libya wanted security increased, not decreased.
Wood says he met daily with Stevens and that security was a constant challenge. There were 13 threats or attacks on western diplomats and officials in Libya in the six months leading up to the September 11 attack…
Wood, whose team arrived in February, says he and fellow security officials were very worried about the chaos on the ground. He says they tried to communicate the danger to State Department officials in Washington, D.C., but that the officials denied requests to enhance security.

It’s almost as if one or more people in Washington, D.C. invited an attack on our people in Libya…

I hope Romney turns up the heat on this at the next debate. Clearly, this assassination is the result of Shrillery’s failed leadership. In a real world, she would have been fired weeks ago. But in barack world, he needs her husband to win re-election. Pit them against each other, Romney! Do it! Do it! Do it!

I agree. Go for the jugular, Mitt! You too, Paul Ryan! Make Slo Joe answer for this.

This is what happens when bureaucrats living in cushy Washington frame the world outside the US in terms of soccer games and cocktail parties instead of listening to those whose boots are on the ground.
As retired military and a guvvie, I’ve seen that all too often.

If Obama wins reelection I think we may find that state did not fail, but set the scene for a contentious change at home.

I’d like to hear Hillz’s explanation of why security was cut. It can’t be cost-savings because the Barky regime spends our money like drunken sailors.
Hmmmm..

This is by Sharyl Attkisson. Is this woman the only journalist left in this world? She is digging into this as well as Fast and
Furious?
Wait. They probably put her on this to get her off of F&F.
Vince on October 7, 2012 at 9:42 AM
Sheryl is the only bright spot lately in the bastion of CBS and deserves credit for her digging like a REAL JOURNALIST into F&F and now into this debacle
Bravo Attkinson, keep it up

By removing the security they DID invite it. The question is why did they do it?
dogsoldier on October 7, 2012 at 9:46 AM
No, it was for cost-savings. They moved the budget from embassy security over to advertising for people to sign up for food stamps.

This is what happens when leadership refuses to face reality and instead tries to impress their idiotic and naive liberal, anti-American template on the world. It doesn’t help when Obama’s guiding principle is political expediency and playing to the voters back home, not actually doing what is best for the country.
