Study: Facebook and Twitter more tempting than sex
The week-long poll conducted in Germany by the University of Chicago Booth School of Business classified checking social network tweets, pictures, comments and other posts as stronger than sex and cigarettes in terms of temptation. “Desires for media may be comparatively harder to resist because of their high availability and also because it feels like it does not cost much to engage in these activities, even though one wants to resist,” Wilhelm Hofmann, the study’s lead author, told the Los Angeles Times.

I deleted my Facebook account about 6 weeks ago. It was a great decision, never had a tweeter account. Now it’s nothing but a huge marketing tool, and a way to track and monitor the masses. I’d suggest you get off of it, and live your life.

Does this study factor in porn? That would be a bigger milestone for social media.

How much money was wasted on their little party, I mean, research trip?

Will never touch Twitter, and my Facebook account is completely barren. No photos no timelines no nothing. Relationship with my GF and one friend, a friend of hers who’s been with her through some pretty ugly life events and vice-versa.

If you choose Facebook over sex it’s best you just continue to self select your way out of the gene pool.
WeekendAtBernankes on October 6, 2012 at 10:57 PM
Yep. Anyone who would prefer Twitter or Facebook over sex never had good sex.

What if you use Facebook to hit your friend’s friend friend up for sex?
SouthernGent on October 6, 2012 at 11:21 PM
Depends on with whom you’re having sex, I would imagine.

The choices are Facebook or orgy? Hmmm.
I think I’ll take “orgy”, please. Thanks.

That is certainly true if the choice is between Facebook and sex with Moochelle.

Isn’t Fluke already on LinkedIn?

FB > sex? That’s just wrong.
NaCly dog on October 7, 2012 at 1:48 AM
I think that’s a function of how long it’s been.

If sex was as easy to get as going on Facebook or Twitter then I think the survey results would be different.
albill on October 7, 2012 at 6:29 AM
Exactly. Think Walmart, with the same shopper… week after week. Statistically, that’s sex in America.
Another reason not to be a statistic…
elfman on October 7, 2012 at 6:40 AM
Wonder how many of the HA folks responded to this survey….
“Honey come to bed because well “you know”"
“Be there in a few snookums I just have to post this reply back to bradky – that arrogant little sob WILL NOT get away with that comment”
“Never mind”
“Maybe tomorrow — er what’s that buzzing sound? Did you leave the treadmill on?”
Bradky on October 7, 2012 at 7:09 AM
IF

ur doing it wrong
stefanite on October 7, 2012 at 7:30 AM
Exactly. Ummm…. Want to compare notes?
The only advantage to FB over sex is that you generally can’t get arrested for doing FB at the table in a restaurant.
GWB on October 7, 2012 at 7:32 AM
Uh, no.
princetrumpet on October 7, 2012 at 8:53 AM
Duh. Because people want to connect, we need that. And if sex is as soulless and mechanical as this society portrays it, of course humans will try to connect to another person somehow even if it’s a shallow a venue as FB.
