Report: Israel rethinking military strike as economic unrest roils Tehran
The Journal quoted an Israeli official as saying, “Everything has changed” since the outbreak of the demonstrations on Wednesday. “You can’t say now that the sanctions are having no impact at all. It is self-evident.”…
A Foreign Ministry document leaked last week said sanctions had caused more damage to Iran’s economy than at first thought and ordinary Iranians were suffering under soaring inflation…
Speaking to reporters about protests in Iran triggered by the collapse of the Iranian currency, which has lost 40 percent of its value against the dollar in a week, Clinton blamed the Iranian government – rather than Western sanctions – for the financial troubles.
“They have made their own government decisions – having nothing to do with the sanctions – that have had an impact on the economic conditions inside of the country,” Clinton told reporters when asked about the protests.

This assumes any new Iranian government, or a recast of the current government, will change Iran’s nuclear weapons quest. Any new or recast administration will likely pick up where the old one left off — as it is the mullahs who are the powers behind the theocratic throne.
We in the USA can hope for change. Israel has fewer actual, immediate choices.

Bibi and Obama now in alignment?

Before Iran’s economy collapses, I am certain the mullahs will launch whatever they have – chem, bio, even nuke – at Israel and at US.
These are not rational actors. They are driven by a medieval annihilationist ideology that seeks an Islamic paradise on earth, even if it means destroying the world.

If I had an enemy that was trying to kill me, I’d have no issues with kicking them when they were down.

Probably wishful thinking.

Something else also happened on Wednesday to improve Netanyahu’s mood.

How many people are happy about impoverishing people in other countries?

If it’s muslims – good – they won’t have as much money to kill non-muslims.
VorDaj on October 6, 2012 at 3:45 PM
yes… all muslims want to kill non muslims… And what are you doing to prevent this? How many muslims have you perosnaly “deported”?

Not to worry, Obama will make a statement saying that he supports the Iranian government over the protestors.

Of course, we all know that all Muslims (man, woman, and child) are a bunch of terrorist. These people don’t live normal lives. They don’t have families, friends, and children. They don’t have normal everyday problems like paying bills, educating their children, or caring for the old. They don’t celebrate birthdays, holidays, special occasions like normal people. All they do is constantly chant “death to America” and plot how to wipe Israel off the map.

Sanctions won’t stop Iran from continuing to build a bomb..now a regime change would be most ideal..the Iranian people for the most part like the West..we should be doing all we can to help dissenters rally against that evil government..but we’ve seen how well Obama supports true democracy movements..he stays freaking silent
