Bravo. That idea should actually win a CLIO award! It would be THUNDEROUS!!! Could you see/hear the screeching and wailing if the RNC did that?! It would be too much to take.
Er… no. Click the link above. It takes you direct to The Weather Channel’s hourly forecast for Charlotte. There is no rain forecast at any time today. At 7 pm, it says “mostly sunny”. The highest chance of precipitation at any time is 5 pm, where it is a whopping 20% chance.
The National Weather Service, at weather.gov, pegs it slightly higher, but still only at a 30% chance and “mainly before 8 pm”.
And AccuWeather predicts no rain after 4 pm.
In other words, no reason at all they couldn’t have held this thing outdoors. As if anyone buys the premise they moved it because of weather anyway.

Er… no. Click on the link above and look at the date shown under 2 pm. It’s September. 7 (tomorrow). I know folks here are having a good time but Hot Air screwed up royally on this one.
I don’t know what day Hot Air is following. But here is one of the Charlotte TV stations forecast as of a few minutes ago:
Today:
Clouds thinning a bit this afternoon with areas of drizzle or light rain early then a few thunderstorms mid afternoon. Highs today only in the mid-80s.. The chance of rain is 40%.
Tonight
Showers moving out early then areas of dense fog with lows around 71°. The chance of rain is 20%.
So it is still highly unlikely that the DNC is telling the truth.
And wouldn’t it have made a great picture to have 75,000 people willing to sit in the rain to her Obama?
And couldn’t they have bought 75,000 ponchos at 50 cents a piece cheaper than moving the speech?
Umm, guess what? If you follow that same hour-by-hour forecast all the way down to 10:00 p.m., you know what you’ll see? Zero percent chance of precipitation.
The gotcha line is the feed where they were touting for weeks that the speech would go on “rain or shine” in “panther” Stadium. Just keep rolling that with a shot to the field and an empty podium and chairs.

Yes, but 60K to 70 K people don’t show up all at once to a football stadium. They would be arriving in the mist of a thunderstorm if it were held outside. Plus there are all of the outdoor props that would get wet. Like it or not but there is sufficient justification for moving Obama’s speech indoors.

Btw, years ago when o graduated from HS, our graduation was moved indoors even though it was mostly sunny at the time of the ceremony because it rained earlier in the day. Also, I have had a hard time getting a leaky roof repaired because roofers won’t do work if the chance of rain is 30%.

I quoted three sources, not just one. Even if Hot Air linked to the wrong day, I personally looked up the National Weather Service and AccuWeather forecasts that I mentioned to you. They’re all in agreement… no rain would have spoiled Obama’s event.

Yeah, I agree. This looks sort of childish. There’s plenty to hit Obama and the Dems over. But I don’t think that comparison of enthusiasm for Obama vs that for Romney is guaranteed to work to Romney’s advantage. Sort of like the “Michelle O’s speech got 400,000 fewer viewers than Ann Romney’s!!!!” stuff.
Blowback

Sandra Fluke to do a rendition of “It’s Raining Men“?

I was told there would be no math.

Hmmm, that’s strange. The weather dude on CNN reported just this morning that it had been moved indoors due to weather concerns; with a straight face…

This does appear to be a foul-up on Hot Air’s part. That page is for tomorrow’s weather. Today’s is here

80% chance of a thunderstorm at 7pm.

If the DNC were telling the truth (weather), there’d be some token concern for the 50,000+ who traveled for the speech but now cannot attend.

But, but, but… it was the lighting they were worried about.

If they were so concerned about the weather, why don’t they just cancel the whole thing?
Those people still have to get to and from even an inside venue outside don’t they?
Chip on September 6, 2012 at 2:39 PM
Slightly off topic and as a matter of curiosity – What is the difference between “partly sunny” and “partly cloudy”?
