Timothy Carney
Video confirmation: The fix was in on those Republican rules changes
I was on the floor at the time, and I saw these party leaders chairing the convention simply ignore points of order and objections. They also ruled that the Ayes had won a voice vote when the Noes pretty clearly shouted louder. It’s hard to get more undemocratic than simply making up the results of a floor vote.
Well, the video above helps explain what was going on. The teleprompter (see at the 2-minute mark) reads “the Ayes have it.” So, rather than describing what happened, the chairs just read their script.

“This isn’t about Ron Paul!” the loudest Ronulans shrieked.
Actually, it is. Yes it makes it harder for the Tea Party to get elected. Yes the whole Texas delegation opposed it. And yet, this is about Ron Paul precisely because Ron Paul’s robots wanted to have a circus… and they got one.
Ronulans know that they are a small minority. They know that their platform isn’t popular. They know that their candidate was never, ever going to be President. But they don’t care. They worked to try and manipulate the delegate system to cause a spectacle. Then they got beat at their own game. They showed contempt for the process, so the RNC showed equal contempt. And now all political minorities will suffer.
Thanks RonBots

I doubt this would have represented the votes at the caucuses.
From my experience, at least here in ND, hardly anybody was voting for Ron Paul. They were voting for Mitt Romney this time AND the last time, when McCain won it.
I’m not arguing there’s nothing wrong with the way the GOP is doing things.
I am not involved in the party machine at all. Everything in ND is always far away from me, like Fargo or Minot. I just do not have the $$ or time to take from my job to attend these things & be active.
But the world is run by the people who show up.
I am a member of the ND Stockman’s Association, & the same things that happen in the GOP I have seen happen at our Stockman’s Convention, but not to such a degree.
The pitiful number that show up to run things is why people are dissatisfied. Bcs the ones showing up are not the ones that necessarily have the wishes of the majority of the group as a whole in mind.
But perhaps this will motivate more people to actively become involved.
I will be voting for Mitt, bcs sorry, he is a lot better than Ron Paul.
And Mitt Romney is also a lot better than Obama.
And when it really comes down to it, the states are letting the SCOTUS rule over everything & have surrendered their right to govern themselves.
So the GOP rules fiasco is the least of my worries right now.
I’ll worry about it later.
Right now I want Obama out so he cannot appoint anymore SCOTUS judges or sign any more Executive ORders etc.

Usurping the desires of the primary voters would have been a more disgusting outcome.

It’s set to start at the 1:51 mark so you only have to look at it for a few seconds.
Oh, and the title of the column at the Washington Examiner is different from the one here at Hot Air.
Over there it’s titled, Can teleprompters count votes?

Thanks. I’ll go check.

1. Despite many party fractures in the past, this power grab has never been done before.
It’s consequences are that it will be harder to get rid of the establishment.
2. I don’t think people were preoccupied. At the convention delegates fought against this. This angered people.
Some have stuck there head in the sand or are Romneybots who are assisting in the cover up.
3. As MM said, multi-task.
