Alabama governor: I did not call on Romney to release his tax returns
Bentley, a Republican, was quoted by the Associated Press calling on the presumptive Republican nominee to provide his tax returns for public examination. …
“I didn’t call on him to do that. That’s not the question that was asked,” he said. “The question that was asked was do you believe that Gov. Romney should release his tax returns. I said I believe in total transparency, I believe that everyone should release their tax returns.”
Bentley continued: “I release my tax returns every year and I just think that everyone should do that. You know, I did not call on him to do that. I just said that’s what I do, and I said I just might be the only public official in Alabama that does that, but I do that every year. I just think it gets an issue behind you when you go ahead and do it. I remember when President Bush did that. I would call on the president to do that also. I just think that it’s just easier to do that and get past that.”

This country is going to H-E-Double Hockey Sticks in a hand basket. Why on earth do I care about Mitt Romney’s tax returns? I already know that he makes a lot of money — and that he gives a lot of money to charity and his church. Who cares about the rest? Why can’t people like Governor Bentley just answer “It’s not really up to me to tell Mitt Romney what to do” ?
cynccook on July 15, 2012 at 2:09 PM
So, how stupid is this Bentley?
Dusty on July 15, 2012 at 2:12 PM
Unless you said no, then it will be taken as a yes. But it’s too late now. You’re on the record as a yes, and it’s all over the news.

Mitt should make the tax returns a package deal for all tax returns, medical and academic records. That will shut down this idiotic exercise toute de suite.

Obama shameless propaganda outlets such as the Birmingham News and Hunstville Times have gone full-bore falsification and suppression for Zero such as they already have done in the post-Trayvon black on white attacks such as the Mobile attack on the man who warned kids about the dangers of playing basketball in the street, to the Adamsville attack by black motorcycle gang on a man delivering a mobile home, to the fatal shooting of a Mobile woman for yelling to slow down as they sped through her neighborhood pausing only long enough to kill her point blank. All of those stories were buried or rephrased to hide the motive.
Expect the Birmingham News and Huntsville Times to falsify statements by Governor Bentley. Their editors will see it as their solemn duty to the DNC as their newspapers go out of business.

Question: does Mitt Romney fall within the category of “everyone”, or is he some kind of exception to the rule?
Stoic Patriot on July 15, 2012 at 2:22 PM
Yep. And bo’s team will immediately shut up because bo’s stuff will bury him.

This from President Downgrade McChoomer whose first act as president was an Executive Order to seal his records!
slickwillie2001 on July 15, 2012 at 2:24 PM
I’ll tell you what, bho/team have their bunch going 24/7 with daily ‘distractions’ to see bho’s krappy, almost four years, be kept out of the news? I’m to the point now, I know who I am voting for, and it sure the heck isn’t bho. All the money on ads whatever comes out in the news about Mitt will not make a flying flit on my Nov. vote!
IMO, Mitt has never, in his life, been as bad as bho has been in his life and my beloved Republic can not take bho another four years! But that is just me.

—– HotAir Web Page Problem —-
Since this morning I am able to post comments (using Firefox) in the Headlines section (signed in within a Headlines topic) but unable to post (still signed in) in the Hot Picks and The Blog sections due to the endless rolling box marquee appearing instead of the add a comments box. This change was not present yesterday evening. A couple weeks ago sign in was not possible also due to the endless rolling box marquee instead of where one clicks on the “sign in ” prompt. That problem resolved a few days later.

I’m using Internet Explorer, but I experienced the same problem you’re describing a few days ago.
Stoic Patriot on July 15, 2012 at 2:33 PM
Yeah, dude, you are calling on Mitt to release his when you say everyone should. It’s stupid to claim otherwise. With “friends” like these, who needs the Dems?
As much as I think this is just a distraction, if Romney is going to release them better to do it now so we can move on already. Beyond that, they need to do a much better job at punching back on stuff like this.

I believe in transparency too, and that’s why I want to see Obama’s birth records, his schools records, his Social Security records (is he using a Connecticut number, and if so, why?), his passport records, etc.
AZCoyote on July 15, 2012 at 2:38 PM
Why don’t OUR reps bring that up. It really pisses me off that they don’t.
VegasRick on July 15, 2012 at 2:40 PM
Because you can’t say anything negative about a darker shade president, it is afterall being racist if you do?

Anyone who answers any of these idiotic questions about Mittens without turning it into a long list of documents and information that the Indonesian Dog-Eating Retard has refused to release and the forgeries that he has provided joke images of, up to and including the Fast and Furious documents, is an idiot who has no business in politics. How can anyone get ANY question about “transparency” and not launch into a 20 minute harange of the questioner on how the brain-dead Dog-Eater occupooping the White House has lied and hid and dissembled his way through public life, even having had his biography made up for him by a ghost writer terrorist buddy he refuses to acknowledge? How can anyone be asked about transparency without talking about Rezko and how Barky got his house, with the “strange coincidences” (LOL) that make it appear as nothing less than a felony, and a poorly executed one at that?
What the hell is wrong with these people?

If he does release it could be a jobs bill. Hundreds of people with tax law degrees to go thought all 20,000 pages each year to do more work than the huge tax lawyers that filed it, looking for errors and tricks that only tax lawyers know are there and very much legal.
Crowd source a Tax audit and then real numbers over percent comes out, would be bad. Millions of dollars in taxes paid sounds high but when proclaimed that he only paid the legally required 15% is sounds small.

Yeah, Alabama, a state that consistently rejects the immoral socialists. What a bunch of morons./ What state are you from, oh enlightened one?
