Obama’s choice: Do something different on the economy — or lose
3. There is no vision from Team Obama about how to fix this mess, beyond these warmed-over proposals that made up the core of the (broadly unpopular) stimulus bill. What happens in a second term with the economy? Do we just keep limping on, while the president continually blames his predecessor, pushes small ball (and obviously poll-tested) proposals, and tries to pump more money into Democratic constituencies like the teachers and craft unions? I understand the political need to blame Bush, but there has to be more…
5. If he does not do something else, he is going to lose. I’ll put it this way: Talking up this lousy economy + blaming Bush + cow-towing to Democratic constituencies + castigating Romney as the bane of all that is holy = 47 to 48 percent of the vote, and maybe 225 electoral college votes.

It is June 1st. It is pretty much too late for him to do anything but double down on blaming others and hope that gets him just over the finish line. And if he makes it there, what does he care what comes after, he will have “flexibility” after his last election after all.

He would have to change his entire philosophy on a dime to have a chance at doing anything effective. Not gonna happen.

It’s too late. Obama had his chance and he blew it. He wanted a legacy of being an activist president. He got it, but he won’t get a second term, as a result.

Blame Bush?
Blame the congress?

Some simple steps that will help boost the economy
-Fire all of the incompetent people that do nothing but kill jobs (Geithner, Chu, Salizar, anyone at the EPA, etc.)
-Hire people that have a clue.
-Stop trying to tax your way out of trouble.
-Tell the Unions to go away.
-Allow private business to succeed and don’t hold them back.
-Issue drilling permits in the Gulf and on public land.
-Stop trying to buy votes with other people’s (taxpayer’s) money.
-Take fewer vacations (this goes double for Michelle).
-Renounce your United States citizenship (if it really exists) and just go far away.
There are many more suggestions, but time and space are limited.

It’s his prophesy. Make him own it.

When they called him “The One” in 2008, they were right, if they were referring to the number of terms.

If that’s all it takes to get 48% of the vote, we’re toast.
Firefly_76 on June 1, 2012 at 11:54 PM
If it involves more than giving a beautiful but empty speech, Obama is useless. Basically we elected a dumber version of Tony Robbins.

The only think TFGP could do is resign, and that sort of defeats the purpose of doing something different to try and stay in office.
Bishop on June 1, 2012 at 11:56 PM
It is too late for him to do something different. Nothing he can do now will have any impact before the elections.

If the media did its job, Obama would get about 10% of the vote plus the millions of people who never heard of Nancy Pelosi and don’t even know who the current vice president is.
The Rogue Tomato on June 2, 2012 at 1:18 AM
The best thing Obama can do for the economy and the country for that matter is to leave office. Anytime after RIGHT NOW would be just great.

They.are.socialists. Their playbook is one page. That’s it.
To be a Leftist is to purposely ignore human nature and our physical reality, and they are the two keys to understanding prosperity.
And, it’s not that they can’t understand this, it’s that they don’t want to. To understand these things is to deny Leftism.

Start blaming Neil Bush?

Says it all. A whole generation of stupid thanks to progressive socialism.

Don’t bet on it. Watch gas prices, they are dropping, perhaps enough for him to get back in again.
bgibbs1000 on June 2, 2012 at 8:54 AM
Obama will probably get decent employment reports in September and October. He will have to hang his hat on those and hope it is enough.

I am pissed. The Dow Jones tanked and I lost a big chunk of my IRA. Others are out of work or out of the job market and what does his crap sandwich do yesterday in the middle of terrible economic news? He flies to MN and IL, tours a factory and gives a speech for 90 minutes, goes to a number of fundraisers — all on our dime.
(Sorry for the cheap, shameless blog-whoring link above, but I built up an annotated rant and figured you folks would like to see the underlying data.)

..he won’t and it won’t. The debt ceiling fight, taxmageddon, and the unrejected remnants of ObamaCare will conspire to keep people from hiring. Speculation is that the economy (along with the economic problems in Europe) will keep the job creation trajectory downward. People will start paying attention to the election in September while simultaneously formulating their opinion about his worthless efforts on the economy.
