Letterman mocks Romney’s wealth despite being worth $400 million
Excuse me, but who the heck is Letterman to ridicule anyone for how much money they have?
According to our friends at Celebrity Net Worth, the Late Show host makes $50 million a year with an estate valued at $400 million.
As Forbes estimated Romney’s net worth at $230 million Wednesday, Letterman’s worth almost twice the target of his derision.

I’m going to be charitable about it. Letterman is an a-hole.
Paul-Cincy on May 20, 2012 at 2:44 PM
Comedian mocks someone. I’m stunned.
YYZ on May 20, 2012 at 2:46 PM
Is it any wonder that the sane rich are leaving the crazy land?
Schadenfreude on May 20, 2012 at 2:46 PM
Mock Obama into oblivion, and all those making excuses for him.
Spontaneoudly combust, all of you.
Schadenfreude on May 20, 2012 at 2:47 PM
Does anyone actually tune into Letterman these days?
OmahaConservative on May 20, 2012 at 2:48 PM
Liberal dictionary:
Rich person = anyone who has one dollar more than me.

I can’t watch Letterman, he’s such a mean unhappy man.

cmsinaz on May 20, 2012 at 2:52 PM
But you see, it’s okay for Letterman to be wealthy… he’s an entertainer and more imporantly, a liberal, he knows about the “little people”. Romney on the other hand is a Republican and a politician, specifically running for President, thus of course he cannot be obscenely wealthy and certainly doesn’t know anything about “teh little people”.
Liberals are relativists.
Logus on May 20, 2012 at 2:52 PM
I’m sure somebody must, I can’t believe they pay that much for bad ratings.
Cindy Munford on May 20, 2012 at 2:52 PM
Him being a leftist is excusable.
His dire lack of talent as a ‘comedian’ is not.
CorporatePiggy on May 20, 2012 at 2:55 PM
Things just fall out of liberal comics’ mouths. There’s no thought involved. No connection to anything, they just say crap.
It’s not like the audience is going to think about his net worth. That’s how they get started. People want to laugh when they go see a comic, they don’t want to think.
Nobody is also likely to remember that their talent is making roomfulls of drunks laugh.

I’m not ashamed to admit that except for RedEye, I haven’t watched late night talk shows since Johnny Carson left the Tonight Show.

Hey Dave, still banging your female interns?
Gap-toothed hypocrite jackass.
fogw on May 20, 2012 at 3:06 PM
Right but smart comedians tend to mock people for things that they themselves aren’t far more guilty of than their subject. This is like Kevin Hart making fun of short people or Sam Kinison making fun of loud people. Or Rosie O’donnell making fun of hysterical fat iditiots.
Kataklysmic on May 20, 2012 at 3:10 PM
Yeah. Been watching him for 30 years.
Letterman just says/does whatever gets audience reaction. You guys just don’t get it. Sure it’s lame, but whatever works. He tends to try to hard to fit in sometimes. He is more lazy now than ever.
You weren’t whining about Letterman when he did Clinton intern jokes every night for over a decade. And, still does one a week at least. And, it still gets a big laugh.
Letterman is a good guy. He spent more than one Christmas in Iraq with the troops. Bet you didn’t know that did you? The whiners at Newsbusters won’t tell you things like that.

Comedian? No, this is about David Letterman.

I stopped watching before he got busted banging his staff …..
conservative tarheel on May 20, 2012 at 3:19 PM
I stopped way before that. He comes across as having zero warmth. I can’t figure out what draws people to him. I guess he was in the right place at the right time.
Paul-Cincy on May 20, 2012 at 3:22 PM
I’m more amazed by the amount that he is paid.

I only tuned in for the grinder girl. And that was years ago, I believe.

I have never been able to sit through an entire episode of Letterman. His humor seems to escape me…
OmahaConservative on May 20, 2012 at 3:41 PM
This Letterman…is he on CurrentTV? Saw sad old Dave on the recent PBS American Masters: Johnny Carson. Telling/revealing that Johnny kept his Nebraska values while Dave’s Indiana roots were co-opted/corrupted by liberalism.
BHO Jonestown on May 20, 2012 at 3:46 PM
Carson would have been all over Romney jokes, and dressing up like Romney in skits.
Carson would have loved Palin too.
Moesart on May 20, 2012 at 4:06 PM
Funny, he never mentions Obama’s money.
The $6 trillion he stole from our children and grandchildren.
Obama hates kids!
fogw on May 20, 2012 at 4:14 PM
Yeah, you’re right. Letterman went after the Idiot you guys nominated for President in 2004, whose net worth is many more times that of Mitt and Letterbomb combined.
Oh, that’s right. He never did. I’m sure you are stunned.

I watched him for quite a few years. I actually enjoyed his wit. But with time, he seemed to become far more angry, by the time the Bush years came about, I thought he was gonna have a stroke. I think he actually may have. Alas, I lost interest.

Did Kerry have ANY money before he married into the Heinz fortune? I always assumed he didn’t.
Night Owl on May 20, 2012 at 4:42 PM
Yeah, his first wife’s.
Cindy Munford on May 20, 2012 at 5:13 PM
I don’t think he’s done anything really funny since he put on the velcro suit and stuck himself to a wall.
trigon on May 20, 2012 at 5:19 PM
My understanding is that he wasn’t born particularly wealthy. However, his mother was part of the extended Forbes family. His education was paid for by an aunt or great-aunt from that side of the family and over time, through his mother’s side of the family he has inherited some of that money. I think his first wife was pretty well-heeled, too.
