Confirmed: It’s legal to kill Bigfoot in Texas
Scharf did not respond to several FoxNews.com requests for more information. But the rules Sinclair cites are clear: It would be legal to shoot Sasquatch.
“Nongame” means wildlife indigenous to Texas that aren’t deer, sheep, geese, alligators, or any other animal hunted for food. If the Commission doesn’t specifically list a beast — and needless to say, Bigfoot doesn’t make the list — it isn’t protected.
So Bigfoot a Longhorn? Absolutely, said Brian Brown, media coordinator for the Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy.

There are jokes in there that would have you banned for life from this place. You can imagine that AP has his finger hovering over the “Launch Hellfire” button.
I’m hoping someone jumps in as a martyr, it won’t be me though.

Serpentine, Bigfoot, serpentine!

Still a bad idea. The chances that it’s an idiot in a gorilla suit are about 99.99%

Errr…
Was there ever a question?
It’s Texas, y’all!

Mooch?! Mooch?! Are you OK?! Dang! I knew we shouldn’t have come to flyover country!!
stvnscott on May 8, 2012 at 11:38 PM
There’s a lot of critters in Texas that are not indigenous. You can shoot them too, and eat them if you are so minded…

Hooray! Now let me get my ‘Mega-Electron-Supa-Dupafly-Bigfoot Blunderbuss’ out of the vault.
Wascally Wabbit, you’ll just have to wait…

What isn’t it legal to kill in Texas?
MelonCollie on May 8, 2012 at 11:59 PM
A huntin’ dog.
RBMN on May 9, 2012 at 12:10 AM
Awww… calling black people monkeys. More cuteness from Hotair commentariat. No worries though, nothing happened to the guy who called her a howler monkey in another thread.
lester on May 9, 2012 at 12:16 AM
How ’bout the Chupacabra? They’re mythical creatures, too. Can we kill them, Gov. Perry? I want the head of one, like this lady found.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on May 9, 2012 at 12:20 AM
Oh, darn you Fox News link! *Grumble*
Ahem. Chupacabra!
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on May 9, 2012 at 12:27 AM
But can you do it by helicopter?
Transpo on May 9, 2012 at 12:27 AM
Texas Parks & Wildlife will have a special drawing for hunters to enter for the special “Bigfoot Hunting Permit”, similar to what TP&W already offers for other special hunts.

Bigfoot good eatin’?
BL@KBIRD on May 9, 2012 at 1:34 AM
Smart local gubmints would issue Bigfoot licenses to anyone who sends them 20 bucks. Comes with two tags. No sex with the females.
BL@KBIRD on May 9, 2012 at 1:38 AM
It’s legal to kill most anything in Texas – especially if it pisses you off (or threatens you).
That’s why I’m moving back to Texas

A rare, serious response:
Yes, dear lester, I caught this and the “howler monkey” reference on the other thread. Y’see, I am a tad sensitive, having a beloved aunt (in Chicago yet!) who looks much like Mrs. Obama. That I am wounded sometimes by fellow travelers makes me stronger in my resolve to ignore the stupid and find the funny. Not like the slave to appease her masters, but like the Old Soldier I am, with the (admittedly center-right) mission at hand, and the ultimate goal in sight.
Mr. Obama must be challenged. Given our economy, and that of Europe, I cannot subsume the desire to see him NOT win in a cakewalk this time.
Feel me?
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on May 9, 2012 at 3:12 AM
Do you think the comments in question actually represent an effective and useful way to challenge Mr. Obama? I think they’re very counter-productive.
DarkCurrent on May 9, 2012 at 4:14 AM
You have a valid point, DarkCurrent. Admittedly they are a turn-off, and thwart my inroads to people with similar backgrounds, and similar concerns to my own. In the end, I am a vote of one.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on May 9, 2012 at 4:34 AM
Just ask Tom Chaney.
But the idea of Bigfoot as the main course at an open pit Texas BBQ has a Mad TV skit written all over it.
hawkdriver on May 9, 2012 at 6:02 AM
Your points are both valid. Comments like that should always be called out if they’re over the top. That one was.
hawkdriver on May 9, 2012 at 6:06 AM
Thank you, hawkdriver. Calm conversations about core decency are hard to come by, especially in the run-up to a brutal election season. Whatever your differences, DarkCurrent and you are that rare breed…Thought-provoking Genlemen.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on May 9, 2012 at 6:29 AM
So it’s legal to shoot non-existent fantasy creatures in Texas? Wow, those Texas, going out on a limb like that. What are they going to rule next? That it’s legal to punch a leprechaun in the face?

I am often guilty of these types of over-the-top comments. I will try to remember that Michelle’s ugly is human-level ugly, not animal-level ugly and adjust my comments accordingly.

I just love Texas – except for the deadly snakes/bugs and humidity.
gophergirl on May 9, 2012 at 8:12 AM
Bigfoot already knows this. That’s why he spends most of his time in Arkansas. Down around Fouke…really, I made my dad take me there on a side trip back in the early 70′s.
He also fits in better in Arkansas…really.

My family is as mixed in it’s ethnic makeup as you can be. We’re not all that sensitive to it, but there are moments. One of the pilots I work with once commented that he thought Asian women were beautiful when they were young until they went through, “Ajimafication”. (Ajima being an older, married Korean woman) Meaning I guess he thought older Asian women were less attractive than other older ethnicities. I said to him that I’d have to tell my wife to watch out for that. He was surprised and said that he didn’t know my wife was Korean. I told him that she was actually Japanese and Mexican-American but he had commented about Asian women in general. Certainly no big deal except for the change in how we perceive people who might think like that. At the very least, awkward. It did no harm to my family but as you intimated above, things like that tend to but you on guard with even friends. That man’s comment couldn’t be fairly called defining evidence of who he is. It does lend itself to characterizations of who he might be. All of it unfair. And that’s the problem with trying to define people by how they look or very small pieces of their character, no?
And Dark Current is exactly right. This is how the left sees Conservatives. I don’t think we need to be sticks in the mud when it comes to humor, but there is a double standard.
As far as being a gentleman, not so much these days. I’m trying to get back there.
hawkdriver on May 9, 2012 at 8:22 AM
Naw, Texas doesn’t waste time making stupid laws to protect imaginary creatures.
It’s goofy lefty’s, like you, who want to make more laws restricting the freedom of people for every little risk. Like airshows, and air races, and auto races…you know, things you have brought up.
cozmo on May 9, 2012 at 8:47 AM
I’m surprised you didn’t say something about being called a Texas instead of a Texan.
hawkdriver on May 9, 2012 at 8:52 AM
With all the cheap shots being taken about what to call somebody in here already, I decided to keep myself clear. Once those things start there is no telling what will set some one off, and who ever starts that would rightfully be on the losing end of whatever transpired.
Besides, I cannot help it if an ignorant bigot calls the people of an entire state a bad name. Best, for Texans anyway, to ignore such a tiny slight as that. He’s said worse. Just get him started on NASCAR.
cozmo on May 9, 2012 at 9:01 AM
Hmmm… Believe it or not, that never entered my mind. I was thinking of the size of her foot, which is… well… big.
Now that the 3 Chimay blinders are off, I can see how that post was in poor taste, and I apologize for it.
stvnscott on May 9, 2012 at 9:04 AM
It takes a big man to post a comment like that. Especially here on Hot Air when some folks almost never let a comment die because they think it gives some leverage when they exchange with you. At least in my book, for what that’s worth, it makes it quite telling who you are. Cheers!
