How Ron Paul could mess with Romney at the GOP convention
That doesn’t mean Paul’s going to steal the nomination from Romney in Tampa. But his delegates could shake things up right when the party’s supposed to unify behind a single candidate. They could start off by calling for a floor vote, and then jump up in blocs to nominate Paul, one state after another. He isn’t likely to actually get the nomination that way, but multiple states clamoring for him would embarrass the party and make things more difficult for Romney in the months before November.
To fend off that political nightmare, Romney may have to offer concessions to Paul. Perhaps give him the microphone and let him speak in Tampa. Or incorporate some of his ideas into party platforms that the GOP will hash out in Tampa.

Ron Paul 2012! If he don’t win the nomination I’m going for Gary Johnson and the LP.

Excellent! Romney has earned nothing less.
Thank you for proving a point I made earler in another Hot Air topic. BTW, I too am a Governor Gary Johnson supporter.

Ah, just asking questions. Where have I heard that before?

You gotta love the whole “Romney would be awesome fixing the economy because he’s a BUSINESSMAN!!!” meme, especially when Romney pulls a boner like this:
“‘My job is to get America back on track to have a balanced budget. Now I’m not going to cut $1 trillion in the first year,’
Why not, someone in the crowd apparently asked, sparking a response from the former Massachusetts governor.
‘The reason,’ he explained, ‘is taking a trillion dollars out of a $15 trillion economy would cause our economy to shrink [and] would put a lot of people out of work.’”
Romney’s too economically ignorant to grasp that all government spending is ‘taking money out of the economy’, and that reducing government spending–that is, allowing people to retain goods and resources rather than having them gobbled up by politicians and bureaucrats–is actually adding money to the economy. Romney would be worse than Obama, because, apart from some rhetoric about tax rates, he believes exactly as Obama does about economics. Why is this worse? Because the Congressional Republicans ALSO believe exactly as Obama on economics, but while they still have a political incentive to oppose Obama, they will have none to oppose a Pres. Romney.

If you hadn’t ignored the TEA Party Republicans I would have agreed with you 100%.

I don’t know what the Paultards stand for. They know he can’t win the nomination now (if they don’t they’re dumb) and they know he can’t possibly win as a third party as no third party candidate has ever won.
Heck, I bet the don’t know what they’re going to do with their lives once he retires from politics after his term in congress is up. Maybe back to wasting their lives on World of Warcraft?

1. Obviously religion =/= citizenship, so I’m finding it hard to understand the issue, unless one is a dual citizen.
2. I meet with Ronbots all the time, and people’s religion never comes up. In fact, we often talk favorably about a lot of Jewish people (economists). So, I’m sorry your husband had that experience, but its not pervasive that I’ve seen.

Yup. Why just last Saturday morning after services, at that coffee hour where we arrange all the affairs of the world, and decide what the world media will be doing in the coming week, this unfortunate Paul-bot trait came up. It’s too bad, because it’s not only a deal-breaker for me, but for a lot people who support Israel, which, of course, includes a LOT of Christians. (Thank G0d. If Israel only relied on Jewish support from America, it would be in big trouble.)
Oh, and I was kidding about the coffee hour. Coffee, herring, cookies, a little whiskey–no world domination–for those who are confused about that.

No I don’t. I know very well who Archavarix is.

And if you’ll notice, no one brought up religion until she butted in. This is a discussion of an American political process, an American political party, its members and its candidates.

Yes, and it’s totally not “dumb” to think that Romney will be even marginally better than Obama.
“…he can’t win as a third party as no third party candidate has ever won.” I’m pretty sure there’s a logical fallacy somewhere in this statement.
“Maybe back to wasting their lives on World of Warcraft?” Yes, exactly; that’s exactly what we will do. Go back to ignoring us, because we are totally not taking over the Republican party from the ground level up, and you will totally not begin to see substantial changes in the party going forward, from platform to candidates.
On a totally unrelated note, I got frickin’ elected to the frickin’ executive committee for the frickin’ local Republican Party. I did it by playing World of Warcraft.
