Obama’s economic messaging not going so well thus far, huh?
“They really want to be either ‘Hope and Change’ or ‘Morning in America,’” said Matt McDonald, a former Bush and McCain operative, now a partner at Hamilton Place Strategies. “But now as the incumbent and with three quarters of Americans thinking we’re still in recession, they can’t really run either of those campaigns.”…
Joe Trippi, a senior adviser on the John Edwards campaign in 2008 and Howard Dean’s 2004 guru, told BuzzFeed that the Obama campaign is still struggling to find a message that reflects how people are actually feeling.
“Part of the problem for the Obama campaign positioning is whether the economy is turning enough to make a message of ‘we’ve turned the corner’ real to people,” he said. “You can’t be saying that if everyone feels that we’re going deeper, and we’re in this sort of situation where people are sort of thinking — the reality is it’s turning, but not as fast as people expect, which is incredibly hard to communicate.”…
Indeed, the Romney campaign is planning to seize on Obama’s “not coming to grips” with the reality of his record, an aide said, seeing an opening to paint Obama as someone unwilling to take responsibility — something Romney will say would be unacceptable in the private sector.

How about this:
“Hey, at $4.00 a gallon, our gas is still cheaper than it is in Europe.”
That ought to work…..

It must suck to be an ‘inspirational’ celebrity candidate whos record is so awful that he’s stuck with criticising his opponent and taking credit for the accomplishments of others (iraq and bin laden) as his campaign message.
Wait, why isn’t Barry talking about his one big accomplishment..his signature peice of legislation…Obamacare?

I think they are deliberately trying to avoid a “re-election” campaign.
rockmom on May 4, 2012 at 12:16 PM
No, the problem is that people are realizing we’ve already turned Obama’s corner and this is the best it will ever get as long as he’s in office.

I still think they should shorten the current one to

Every attempt they make for his campaign goes down in flames within 72 hours. “struggling” in other words, they have nothing and they’re in full panic mode.
Have you all noticed how silent the trolls have been? Or when they do come out how shrill and laughably silly they are?
The nation is in serious trouble and Zero will not come to grips with it because he convinced himself things are great, that we are just too stupid to see it. The man is sick, delusional and bankrupt.

He’s gone from “you can’t touch this” in 2008 to “everything he touches turns to shit” in 2012. I blame the interwebs. You know, fool me once and all of that.

Yeah, and notice how he’s only held one press conference this year and only three since last summer? The dude doesn’t want to take responsibility. He doesn’t want to answer for his failures and he doesn’t want to be confronted with any of that reality. I don’t think he should be too worried about the WH press corps. asking him questions that hold him accountable, but they are obviously so scared that one legit question might actually get asked that they won’t allow him to be available for it. Pathetic.
I think Romney may be onto something with the “won’t take responsibility” angle. I so look forward to the debates.

Slightly OT:
Biden’s being left out of Obama campaign meetings. The only way Barack wins this is with a “game-changing” new VP at his side. Hmmmmm…
Rational Thought on May 4, 2012 at 1:33 PM
And that’s why Romney’s got a pretty good chance. While Mitt has to run against both Obama and most of the media, Obama must run against both Romney and reality.
