Which Republicans will get to speak at the convention?
Romney, wrapping up a nomination that exposed rifts between his camp and conservatives, can use the convention to ease strains by offering plum speaking posts to anyone who might otherwise make trouble. But the objective of the modern convention—a chance to reach out to the middle of the electorate—means prime-time speaking roles for the most prominent agitators wouldn’t send the message Romney’s team wants. Snubbing a prominent conservative could risk inconvenient stories about the candidate’s perceived problems with his own party’s base.
Several insiders interviewed for this story said former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will present a unique challenge to Romney’s team: Will they give her a prime spot to satisfy her fans, or reduce her role because of her polarizing nature?
“You want people to generate interest and passion,” said one Republican who has organized conventions before and who, like others, didn’t want to be named. “Sarah Palin goes to a very small segment, relatively speaking, of the Republican Party. And you’re trying to put together a rainbow coalition.” (Democrats faced a similar situation in 1992, when then-Gov. Bob Casey of Pennsylvania was denied a speaking role, he believed, because he opposes abortion rights.)

Sarah Palin didn’t pi$$ away 175 million dollars of Meg Whitman’s money on a race that was lost to a Zombie Candidate.
Only Mitt Romney could be a$$clown enough to do that. With a little help from Karl his Bad Self.
You do realize that the California Governor’s race is probably going to be the template for how this Presidential is going to go, don’t you?
Meg was “moderate” and “inoffensive”, too. Just like Mitt.
She lost her a$$.
Nice going, Moderates! You people never learn.
victor82 on May 3, 2012 at 6:48 PM
YOU BASTIGE!
I know it was you driving the getaway car when Sarah showed up at my house with a gun and stole my wallet and emptied my back account!
Dack Thrombosis on May 3, 2012 at 6:48 PM
You wouldn’t know a straw man from a post hoc fallacy if both bit you in the ass, Pops. Stick to your cutesy shtick in the QOTD thread.
ddrintn on May 3, 2012 at 6:48 PM
She’s so irrelevant that instantly hordes of paid trolls and hangarounds start to harass and smear her wherever her name shows up?
Occam’s razor aint buying it.
the_nile on May 3, 2012 at 6:48 PM
con artists don’t often have getaway cars and guns
joey24007 on May 3, 2012 at 6:49 PM
Get over yourself.
You come across as a prissy and whiny lefty hipster.
You missed your time by about 40 years.
Grow up.
Just trying to help.

The appearance of Mrs. Palin will make Nicole Wallace cry and not vote.
Ladysmith CulchaVulcha on May 3, 2012 at 6:50 PM
some people are like that. Paris Hilton, the Kardashians, Palin’s camping friend Kate etc.
joey24007 on May 3, 2012 at 6:50 PM
And that makes all the difference.
the_nile on May 3, 2012 at 6:51 PM
A couple days ago I said this to you
The crux of your argument is that you know what’s in my mind better than I do.
You know going back to my not giving you credit for being a deep thinker from a couple days ago, I do love to be proven right but you don’t need to make it that easy for me.
alchemist19 on May 3, 2012 at 6:51 PM
Hey moron read up on it, you might learn something..:)

If I’m getting paid, my check hasn’t yet arrived. I hear Sarah Inc.’s flush with cash, plenty to hire a full team of defenders, but then again I don’t go around accusing people whose arguments I can’t refute of being bought-and-paid-for hacks.
And Occam’s Razor, it seems to me, would look at who tends to nip instantly at the “anonymous Republican doesn’t capitalize pronouns that refer to Sarah Palin” articles, and certain names keep appearing over and over.
portlandon, promachus, ddrintn, idesign, et cetera.
Who’s living in whose head rent-free, now, Warriors of the Goddess?
KingGold on May 3, 2012 at 6:54 PM
Remember something. The Moderates and the Left were always on the same side when it came to Palin.
The problem that these people have is that they never believe that these tactics will work on them.
One thing I like about the Democrats is that they circle the wagons and protect each other. The moderates never do this. They stab conservatives in the back at the first opportunity to buy peace from the news media.
That’s what’s happening now with Palin, btw. The Romney clowns think that by diminishing Palin, it will make Romney look “mature” and “seasoned”. It makes him look weak and small.
You never, ever throw anyone out of the tent to please the Left and their allies in the Media. Never.
The Romney people don’t get this. Their Squishies. They never will. They go to a lot of the same parties as the news media and, what’s worse, share most of the same assumptions about people out in the country as the MSM.
If you liked the Bush Second Term, you’ll love the Romney Campaign.
Romney has Bush disease: he wants to be liked by the press. This is fatal in a Republican.
victor82 on May 3, 2012 at 6:54 PM
I remember that.
joey24007 on May 3, 2012 at 6:55 PM
lolz..If you say so loon..How many different folks does it take to call you out on the straw man argument for you not to get it??..Try google it is your friend..

Anyway, I’m out for the evening, folks. Let’s see how many
Bots show up to pat Governor Marmalarde on the back for kicking conservatives in the teeth.
victor82 on May 3, 2012 at 6:58 PM
But apparently you dont want to understand it.
the_nile on May 3, 2012 at 6:58 PM
Sarah Palin was the Vice Presidential Candidate for the GOP Ticket in 2008, and a Former Governor of Alaska. She should be treated with respect, and if by chance the party has an inkling to have her speak at the Convention she should have the chance to.
portlandon on May 3, 2012 at 7:00 PM
That’s why I called it a moron…:)
idesign on May 3, 2012 at 7:04 PM
I should know better than to ask but… what side was that exactly?
Which tactics are those?
Even if we accept that Republicans never do that, Joe Lieberman would still take issue with the first part of what you said.
Romney people think that? I wonder why. It certainly isn’t because it makes sense.
No one has been thrown out of the tent just to please the Left and the media and anyone who tells you otherwise is stupid, lying, trying to sell you something or some combination of those.
I see baseless, unsupported supposition is your weapon of choice. You might want to reconsider that strategy going forward.
Exhibit A for my previous statement.
I agree chasing media approval is fruitless but as to Romney wanting that, let’s just call this Exhibit B.
alchemist19 on May 3, 2012 at 7:12 PM
You’re destroying yourself KingGold.
portlandon on May 3, 2012 at 7:16 PM
I agree..But does Sarah want to speak at GOP Convention??..
Dire Straits on May 3, 2012 at 7:18 PM
And yet you continue to dredge up a quote about something else entirely.
Am I living rent-free in your head, Palinoid?
KingGold on May 3, 2012 at 7:23 PM
Yep, absolutely. Palin’s become a good touchstone in that regard.
Look up “sarcasm”. Google is your friend.
Loon
I’ll have to check to see if you’ve ever EVER objected to the “pigeonholing” of “Palin whorshipers”. Lemme guess…
ddrintn on May 3, 2012 at 7:25 PM
* “woshipers” “Whorshipers” just gives more ammo to the Palin-deranged.
ddrintn on May 3, 2012 at 7:26 PM
Romney’s convinced his little ‘bot squad that he’s the electability messiah AND has made good money all the while. Talk about “con artists”.
ddrintn on May 3, 2012 at 7:27 PM
Republicans sure are doing the best they can to piss off conservatives like myself. Not only am I having to hear that Palin was a horrible VP candidate from the left (she wasn’t), but now I also have to hear this constant barrage of attacks from Republicans too? Ones that are too chicken to put their names to their attacks I might add.
I’m to the point where I hope Palin says screw the Republican party. Here is the woman that single handely excited the Republican party like nobody since Reagan. Here is a woman that single handely almost defeated Obamacare with just two words. Here is a woman that went to Wisconsin to rally for Gov. Walker while being surrounded by liberals. Here is a woman that kept the Tea Party form boiling over and forming a 3rd party….telling them to work within the Republican party. Here is a woman that helped lead conservatives to victory in the 2010 midterms. Here is a woman that has taken it to Obama and his administration everyday since the 2008 election and has the bumps and bruises to prove it, and this is how they repay her.
If the Republican party thinks it doesn’t need Palin or her supporters, then I guess they don’t need my vote.
Gay Conservative Out!!!
Stryker83 on May 3, 2012 at 7:27 PM
LoLz..
Dire Straits on May 3, 2012 at 7:27 PM
It seems that Palin’s living in yours…
Why else would we see you commenting on every Palin thread on HotAir…LOL
idesign on May 3, 2012 at 7:28 PM
Yeah, I have to come clean. idesign and myself are a husband-and-wife team on the Palin payroll. And we get paid handsomely at that.
ddrintn on May 3, 2012 at 7:29 PM
Regardless of what happens, it will be The Establishment’s fault.
Client Number Nine on May 3, 2012 at 7:29 PM
Look, I’m not the one popping up on every thread throwing a tantrum and threatening simultaneously to burn the party down and sit out the election if some anonymous Republican doesn’t apologize for insulting a politician who’s currently not a candidate for any office.
KingGold on May 3, 2012 at 7:31 PM
You’re destroying yourself.
portlandon on May 3, 2012 at 7:33 PM
Those anonymous Republicans will be revealed on Breitbart very soon…
Stay tuned..:)
idesign on May 3, 2012 at 7:37 PM
God!!’!!! Who need Obamabots when we have Mittbots acting just like liberals………uh…..maybe they are liberals. Sorry for unmasking you guys…heh!
journeymike on May 3, 2012 at 7:38 PM
I’d give priority to those who ran for the nomination and people currently in office, but I’m sure there’d still be room for Palin.
Client Number Nine on May 3, 2012 at 7:39 PM
Distance yourself from this “Republican who doesn’t want to be named”. He also doesn’t have a clue.
Paul-Cincy on May 3, 2012 at 7:39 PM
Even if you can locate an example of me passing on the opportunity to call someone for unfairly attacking Sarah Palin’s supporters it won’t change the fact that your penchant for the use of logical fallacies to support your arguments has been exposed. Again.
Happy Googling!
alchemist19 on May 3, 2012 at 7:41 PM
I look forward to it. Name ‘em and shame ‘em. If they don’t have the stones to criticize other Republicans on the record, they should just keep quiet.
And I anxiously look forward to whatever reprisals the Palinoids keep threatening and exactly how that shakes out.
KingGold on May 3, 2012 at 7:43 PM
Hummm, reprisals….
The plot thickens..:)
idesign on May 3, 2012 at 7:47 PM
I agree 100% Stryker, I’m fed up with the Palin bashing from our own.
abupundit on May 3, 2012 at 7:48 PM

Dack Thrombosis on May 3, 2012 at 8:00 PM

Dire Straits on May 3, 2012 at 8:08 PM
I bet Romney and the Establishment are batsh*t crazy enough to deny Sarah to speak if she wants to…..they’ll gladly take the wrath of many conservatives thinking that by election day they will get in line
journeymike on May 3, 2012 at 8:28 PM
If I can? LOL You pass up every opportunity.
Oh, cut out the condescending dime-store professor routine. If you can’t tell sarcasm from the straw man arguments you ‘bots fling around in dead earnest, you’re more stupid than I thought.
ddrintn on May 3, 2012 at 8:31 PM
Preach it.
