“And, you know the thing about heroes, they don’t brag”
“I say any president, Jimmy Carter, anybody, any president would have, obviously, under those circumstances, done the same thing. And to now take credit for something that any president would do is indicative of take over campaign we’re under — we’re — we’re seeing…So all I can say is that this is going to be a very rough campaign,” McCain told Fox News in an interview set to air Monday night. “And I’ve had the great honor of serving in the company of heroes. And, you know the thing about heroes, they don’t brag.”

Obama is not a hero. He is now the Toiletflusher in Chief.
He has no class, none.

I agree about heroes not bragging. I’ve been blessed to meet several and they mostly have focused on helping their fellow soldiers as their fellow soldiers would have helped them and the importance of their buddies who didn’t come back.

He’s compensating for that big schtick Biden went on about.

The hero card, artfully played. Well done, Senator. Well done.

Give the man a Purple Heart. He tossed and turned all night trying to decide. Then Valerie told him he had to. Owie!

Oh, now he’s ready to fight.
So where the heck was this side of McCain in 2008???

Moral authority. They sure do know how to deploy the ideal surrogates depending on the situation.

…I have met thousands of American Soldiers over the years…
…………..not one single Soldier ever bragged about carrying out his mission….
………not…ever.
Well said McCain.

I find McCain a lousy interview on any issue other than national security. But on this matter, I saw him say it on BOR last night. It was like watching a home-run hitter crush a hanging curve.
I think it’s absurd for Obama to be running around taking a victory lap–a year after the fact. I find it incomprehensible that he’s running a campaign video claiming tht Romney wouldn’t pull the trigger.
At this point, the SEALs are the only people who should be bragging, and Obama should STFU.

I knew that a cousin of mine, as did his brother, had served with distinction in Vietnam and always was a quiet, great guy but the first I heard about his two Bronze Stars with Valor and the long list of other many medals and recognitions was when it was read by one of the honor guard at the great man’s funeral.

I’ve had the privilege of knowing a few warriors, people who have taken the lives of evil men because they had to to save innocents. Romney’s right: They don’t brag. Aside from his other faults, Obama’s a blustering grandstanding coward.
Socratease on May 1, 2012 at 12:25 AM
Remember the grief the liberals and the press (but I repeat myself) gave President Bush when he dared to mention 9/11 and Bush’s response to it in his re-election campaign?

John “HEY GUYS I WAS A POW IN NAM FOR 5 YEARS, REMEMBER?!?” McCain is right. Heroes don’t brag. BTW, did you know he was a POW in the Hanoi Hilton? And was brutally beaten and tortured during that time? Probably not, because he never drew attention to the fact that he was a war hero during his own presidential campaign. Nope, not a braggart, Senator McCain.

McCain’s record was reviewed. In detail. Obama’s was not. So we will probably never know just how much weed and blow Obama used and dealt while we know a great deal about what McCain was doing at the same age.
Django on May 1, 2012 at 3:09 AM
He did not say, “Heroes do not discuss their experiences,” he said heroes don’t brag. We won’t consider it bragging if you discuss your actions that equal McCain’s at the Hanoi Hilton.

Vile and unsavageable. The irony of your own point is lost on you.
hawkdriver on May 1, 2012 at 5:15 AM
As much as I dislike McCain, there are some people I’d like to see that 76-year-old man thrash. Let’s start with keyboard warriors who fail to appreciate what he went through.

I knew a true hero, John R. McKinney.
Knew him for years before I found out he was a MOH recipient. My wife grew up around all his relatives and it was I who told her about his decoration.
Real heroes don’t brag.
R.I.P. Sergeant.
Thank you.

Actually, I don’t really recall him running on that, or having ads about it, or talking about it much during the campaign. It was of course talked about as a major part of his biography, and he was of course asked about it. I don’t believe he ran on it, or had ads about it.
Regardless, I think most of America knows how sad Obama’s trying to claim credit for killing Obama is. The info was first developed under Bush, using techniques O railed about, and the intelligence agencies did nothing different under Obama – they just continued doing what they had been doing under Bush, then they went to Obama and said “here’s what we want to do” and Obama said “OK” and somehow that make Obama a hero? That is something Obama should get credit for?

These are the humble words Denton spoke upon regaining his freedom and return to the US from the Hanoi Hilton in 1973. Difficult circumstances doesn’t even begin to describe it. Some may remember Denton as the POW who blinked T-O-R-T-U-R-E in Morse code. He eventually became a senator from Alabama.
