Dems’ ready to spring new “war on women” trap on Romney, GOP
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will bring to the floor in coming weeks legislation to protect women from retaliation by employers if they inquire about salaries paid to male colleagues.
Republicans voted in unison to block the bill, the Paycheck Fairness Act, when it came to the floor in November of 2010.
Democrats say it will be difficult for GOP senators to back out of their opposition, especially because the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has staunchly opposed the legislation.
Mitt Romney will either have to split with Republicans and an important business group or take a position that could further erode his support among women.

If this invasion of privacy passes 1) it should be challenged in court and 2) men should start inquring how much women make.

These dems aren’t nearly as clever as they think they are. I see another backfire coming.

Isn’t that already illegal? Stupid election year gimmicks, too obvious for real women.

Socialist democrats attacking private business again. I’m thinking anyone in business in America should just close down. No business, no oil, no food, no nothing. In 6 months the only people left will be cannibals. I hope socialists taste good.

I suspect some married women may not care for this too much. Some will see this an attack on their men WHO WORK MORE HOURS.

Okay Harry, I say we start by looking at salary ranges of congress’ staff members.

Paycheck “fairness” isn’t women’s problem under Obama, it’s the fact that they have no paycheck at all. “Fairness” would be Barack abandoning his job-killing economic policies so the women of America can find jobs.
Rational Thought on April 29, 2012 at 1:40 PM
They only think you don’t need help when it comes to choosing to kill your own unborn child ….then its off limits. In that single case you are an adult mature woman capable of taking care of yourself.
CW on April 29, 2012 at 1:42 PM
It’s no one’s business how much anyone else makes.
If they want to know how much a guy makes, go ask him. If he tells you to mind your business, then it’s over.
Next thing you know they’ll be trying to pass laws opening up medical records to make sure no one is being treated unfairly when receiving treatment from a male doctor.

There’s no real job growth, the economy is stagnant, home prices/sales still stink, and the Democrat debasement of the currency is robbing our savings, the debt is up to 16 trillion, and the Democrats haven’t passed a budget in 3 years.
And they are spending their time setting political traps?
Sounds like a great strategy.
forest on April 29, 2012 at 1:51 PM
Not sure about where you work, but at my job, it’s considered unethical to tell others how much you make unless you’re still at the starting pay (which is posted online to job seekers anyway).
That said, my friends and I always share this information, because it’s useful to know where the floors and ceilings are.

DUMB!
My company – if you share your salary at all you are fired on the spot.
Romney should come back with why do the Democrats think women can’t take care of themselves?
gophergirl on April 29, 2012 at 1:56 PM
If the GOP Senate is worth a damn, they can give Romney an assist by simply killing the bill.
Romney can then do the intelligent thing and ignore it, snorting derisively when George Stephanapolous manages to corner him.
Those are two very big “if”s.

Just a reminder:
Average salary of male white house staffer: $71k
Average salary of female white house stagger: $60k
Haha–I wonder if the reason why Anita Dunn was forced out and subsequently called the white house a hostile working environment for women was because she asked about this pay discrepancy.

Run with that.
Nothing changes minds more than but hurt cons screaming about male oppression.
It’s a “Made up war on women”!!, but please don’t count the 1000+ state and federal laws passed by goopers in the past 2 years that deny or curtail women’s freedom.
You guys think women agree with you when you cry about Obama destroying freedom?
Ha.
Reminds me of the time gallup showed an 8 point gallup swing to Obama after a week of reading here how the dog on roof story, and the ‘never worked a day’ story had been rendered moot, worse, had solidly blown up in Obama’s face.
Best part was reading the comments searching for news that could possibly explain the shift….and coming up empty.
No chance they were wrong about anything.
One commenter here warned about it at the time though. ddtrin.. But you all mocked him too.
Obama for the win.

If Americans do nor see through this as a gross invasion of privacy in the name of pay equality and put it as an advantage for the democrats, they deserve the destruction of the country under the democrats and Barry.

THIS is the YEAR in which the Republicans SHOULD have the Democrats scrambling to cover their arses, but instead the GOP is playing defense. Why? Because the GOP Insiders are NOT LEADING the charge to attack the liberal policies the Democrats have rammed down our throats!
The GOP is setting us up for another liberal FAIL because they haven’t the courage of their convictions, and that is why they support liberal Governor Mitt Romney. They think alike.
Be prepared for the Third Party onslaught which the GOP is forcing real Americans to consider thanks to their refusing to support conservative ideals. Americans will be looking for a better choice and the GOP hasn’t got one. All they’ve got is their support of another liberal agenda.
DannoJyd on April 29, 2012 at 2:50 PM
Not needed. The GOP is laying all of the work for the democrats this year.
DannoJyd on April 29, 2012 at 2:52 PM
Let them pass it.
Then, as pointed out, it will get challenged, and eventually lose in court.
McConnell, Boehner, Romney, – everyone – should say it clearly and consistently -
The President wants to legalize an invasion of privacy. He can have it, because it won’t stand in court. So when it gets overturned, realize the Constitutional lawyer has shown he does not understand 10th, 8th and now 4th Amendment.

Care to detail those 1000+ laws that have been enacted impinging on women’s freedom? I’m female and I can’t say I’ve seen any laws, other than Obama’s, that impinge on my freedom. I suppose you like to ignore the fact that Obama’s executive actions impinge on everyone’s freedom. Is it because men are included in that everyone? Why do you hate men?
